The Coming Darkness - closed for JadeKnight

His claws continued to gently graze along her inner thigh, occasionally going along the top of her thigh. He did grin a little seeing her reaction.

"Mostly just getting used to doing her duties as a wife, cleaning the house, cooking, that sort of thing."

He hummed at her time at the temple.

"Those are useful skills to have learned."

“Yes...” She was breathless. “I have a knowledge of medicines and such....I was being trained to become head priestess one day...”

The wagon rolled on and from the shadows of the trees eyes watched them. “That them?”

The dwarf nodded. “Yeah, let’s follow a bit. There is that bend in the road where it narrows. We can take them there. They moved out and the shadows moved with them. The trees where they had been hiding were dying as if burnt.

His fingers continued to tease her for a few more moments before stopping. He frowned for a moment as he felt the small hairs on the back of his neck stand up. It was just a reflex he had developed from an early age when he felt someone watching. He frowned as he looked around, but kept the cart going.

He stopped touching her and Selakir felt her desire slowly dying down to embers rather than flames. Her breathing slowly returned to normal. She did keep herself close to him. His presence made her feel safe.

They road down the quiet road. She frowned. “Does it seem like it got darker to you?”

The wagons was steered into a bend. At the end of the bend the road narrowed just a little because of a large tree. A wagon still comfortably fit it was just a bit tighter.

Something hit the wagon hard. The impact was on the back, coming from the left side. It sent the wagon tipping. Selakir began falling away from Draco as the world shifted. She cried out.

Darkness descended on the uprighted wagon. Selakir hit the ground.

“Don’t eat them. Just the horses! Rest of you, grab them!”

He nodded in agreement to her statement about it becoming darker, which did concern him a little. He didn't respond as he kept an eye out for danger.

He was caught off guard for a moment as the cart was hit from behind and began to tip over. He let go of the reins quickly, but ended up underneath the front of the cart as it came to a rest above him. He hadn't thought to bring a weapon to carry on himself, but a small box tumbled out from under the front seat and the top popped off from the impact.

Growling a little at the trouble, he grabbed the dagger as he crawled out from under the cart as the horses struggled to get free. He couldn't see where Selakir was, but decided to wait on finding her. He lifted his free hand into the air, casting a magical light spell. However he wasn't quite used to his newly charged powers yet, so it ended up illuminating the little area to the point of blindingly bright. He groaned and turned his head away as he closed his eyes quickly.

Rough hands grabbed her and began dragging her from where she had fallen to the ground off of the cart. Selakir struggled but the hands were stronger than she was.

The horses made noises as if something was squeezing the air from their bodies.

Then the area was filled with bright light. Selakir was dropped to the ground as her captors tried to cover their eyes. Screams, inhuman screams filled the air.

Selakir covered her ears and closed her eyes.

The dwarven leader, Rutger growled. His helm had shielded him from the worst of it but it was still hard on eyes meant for the dark. "Get her! Move!"

The creatures were recoiling from the light. Some looked badly injured. He had never seen anything that could hurt them before. Rutger ran full tilt at Draco and rammed into him. He was stout but solid.

Selakir got up and began stumbling away from the noises. Her hands reached out in front of her and slowly she opened her eyes. Blinking she kept her back to the wagon and ran into the trees. She got a little ways in when it seemed like the shadows were closing in on her. The trees began to die.

She screamed.

Since he had to close his eyes against the light, he didn't have time to adjust to it yet. That left him open to attack, so he was knocked back and off of his feet from the dwarf's charge. He doubled over for a moment, coughing a bit. The light continued to shine above his hand, but it wasn't so bright now.

Draco growled as he got to his feet, hearing Selkair scream. He gripped his dagger tighter for a moment as he stared down the dwarf for a moment before moving towards him. Draco had heard the screams of pain from the creatures, so he figured light was probably going to be the key.

He feinted as if to attack the dwarf with his dagger, but instead flew over him. He reached down with the ball of light, shoving it against the dwarf's helm to blind him and jerking him off of his feet. He Kept the light in the dwarf's face as the tip of his dagger worked underneath his helm before plunging deeply into the vile creature's throat.

He panted softly as he left the dagger there, standing up as he looked for the direction his angel went.

They were closing in on her. It was the things from her dreams. Selakir looked around. There was no escape.

She knelt down and screamed. The air rippled, pushing the creatures back. She needed Draco. Without out him these things would kill her.

A dwarf appeared. "I'm taking charge. Boss wants her alive. Go eat the other one."

"I thought he wanted both alive?" Another dwarf was scanning the trees.

"Who cares. He gets one, that's good enough."

The other dwarf wandered over and grab Selakir. "None of that screaming business."

Selakir jumped, hoping her wings would take her but the dwarf had a tight grip on her. "I may need to cut those off...."

He drew his sword and placed it where the wing met her back. He began to cut.

Selakir screamed in pain.

"I said no screaming." She was punched, hard. Her sight began to go blurry.

Find her... The voice whispered to Draco. She is the key to defeating them. You need her at your side to win. We need you to win...

Her next cream gave him a bearing on which direction he needed to go to find her. Using the light globe to illuminate the way, he conjured up a second one in his other hand.

As he flew along, he pressed the two globes together causing them to brighten even more. They turned into a ray of bright light that shot ahead of him swaying back and forth like a powerful beam.

He was soon rewarded by the screams of pain from the rest of shadow creatures as the light beam burned them. He let the beam widen as he landed a few feet from one ones gathered around Selikar, hitting all of them.

Around him the shadows cringed, screamed and recoiled from his light. The dwarves turned, shielding their eyes. "Take her, run."

One dwarf squared up to face Draco. The other dwarf began to run, taking Selakir with him. "Draco! Help me!"

The other dwarf growled and readied himself to fight. "The master has plans for her..."

Draco smirked for a moment, "That's what he thinks."

The beam of light shifted between his hands as he ran towards the dwarf preparing to battle him. The globe of light split into two halves as it began to form into a pair of swords. He lifted one light sword up to parry a block from the dwarf's axe for a moment. He brought the other sword around, the tip finding a hole in the side of the dwarf's armor and sinking in deeply.

Draco kicked the dying dwarf aside as he hefted the other sword of light and threw it at the other one carrying Selikar, shifting into a long spear mid-air as it continuing onwards.

The dwarf was hit with the spear. He cried out, falling. He half threw, half dropped Selakir. She hit the ground and bounced.

She was trying to get up when something grabbed her legs. Her skin felt as if it was burning. A creature began to pull her in. Her hands scratched at the ground. The creature wanted to eat this elf. She was so full of energy. It remembered what it's master wanted though. It and the others congealed together and pulled her into their depths.

Selakir screamed and tried to get out of the blackness. The creatures tried to move fast. They had lost so many the shadows were smaller now and they feared the winged bringer of light.

Help her...do not let them take her or you will fail. If he gets his hands on her, on you both the world is over Draco. Slay them, save her. The goddess urged him forward

Draco was getting pissed by this point, growling as his angel was getting taken away once more. He lifted from the ground, flying after the mass that had taken her.

Seeing the creatures all together now, it was time to do something drastic. The sword of light and spear had faded away as he brought up another small ball of light. This one wasn't going to hurt the creatures, but he had a plan.

He threw the small ball of light, so very dim. As it disappeared from view, it suddenly brightened to that of the sun within the creatures for several seconds before disappearing.

Around her there was a tremor. The creatures that had her stopped. They screamed. Selakir blocked her ears trying to keep the sound out. She was dropped to the ground as the creatures died. She was on the ground, hands on her ears and shaking.

The woods were abnormally silent. The creatures had consumed the living things around here. The trees were black, twisted and dead.

"No...no...no..." She was trying to drown out the screams.

Seeing Selikar fall to the ground, Draco ran to her. He knelt beside her, hugging her gently.

"Easy angel. I'm here...it's ok."

He reached down and gently picked her up in his arms, giving her a soft kiss on her forehead. He carried her slowly through the forest back towards the cart. It would take a little bit of work, but he knew he would be able to get the cart back upright.

However, he sat down on a large nearby rock, letting her rest softly in his lap as he held her close.

Selakir was shaking. At first she tensed when he hugged her. It took her a moment to realize it was him and not the creatures or the dwarves. She wrapped her arms about his neck as he picked her up. Her face was in his neck and she was crying.

"They tried to cut my wings off..."

She sat in his lap, calming down. Her dress, hands and legs were dirty. Her skin hurt in the places the creatures had touched her.

"I warned you there was something coming. The goddess said only you can fight it." She curled up in his arms.

"I know, I know."

He sighed softly for a moment as he continued to gently hold her to comfort her. He kissed the top of her head for a moment as he ran his claws gently along her exposed back. When she mentioned her wings, he did take a moment to check on her wings to see if they had hurt her any.

He frown for a moment seeing where they had cut her a little, making her bleed some. He didn't have anything to bandage her up with and he wasn't sure yet of trying to heal her with magic.

"Everything is good now...I'll protect you my angel."

"Not just me. You...we must protect everyone. Look at what they did to the horses, to the trees. I don't know why but we are special and the gods need our help." She pressed her face to his neck. "Hold me tighter..."
---
He was angry. He had watched through the pool. They had had her in their grasp. He had been so close he could almost taste her. His eyes raked over the elven woman in her red dress as she sat on the man's lap.

That man...not even a man...his blood boiled. He would find a way to get them, defeat them so his plan could be accomplished. He just needed to find a way.

"Of course my angel."

He kissed her cheek softly softly a moment as he held her against him. He closed his eyes as he just held her close. His claws grazed gently up and down her back and neck as his other hand petted softly over her wings.

He opened his eyes after a little bit, looking towards the overturn cart. He wondered if it would be worth overturning the cart or just returning back home to get another one. Either way, they would have to move on.

Halgurd needed to think fast. He gathered some of his creatures to him and with a cast of his spell they were transported to the woods.

The air changed in front of the pair. Selakir tensed in his lap.

Suddenly creatures were around them. Halgurd quickly cast two spells to bind the pair before they could react. He walked towards them. "Now, you have caused me quite a bit of trouble. The two of you..." He sighed and looked at the pair, unable to move. His hand reached out to stroke Selakir's wing. "Nice spell, this..."

He crouched next to them and looked at Draco. "I need you both, I do. You have some rare blood and powerful magic. She...well not only is there a power in her that will open the gate she will be fun to play with. So, shall we?"

Draco was just a bit more than pissed at this point. It wasn't even noon yet, and already he was getting into trouble. He looked at Halgurd with a little smirk.

"You can go to hell"

Since his hands were free, it wasn't hard to do what he wanted. He turned one hand downward as he summoned up a dim ball of light. With a twist of the wrist, he showed it to the guy and his creatures as he intensified the brightness greatly.

Halgurd cried out in pain and hissed as he backed away as fast as he could before disappearing into shadows. The minions screamed as they died, Draco quickly shifting the light into a dagger cutting them free.

"I think we should go home now."

He lifted his angel up, holding her close before flying into the air with her.

Selakir was shaking. It felt as if her bones wished to free themselves from her skin. She held onto him tightly.

"I do not wish him to touch me. Please do not let him..."

She was glad the mage was gone but also a little scared of the power Draco seemed to wield.

Selakir laid her face deep into his neck. "Never leave me. I fear he will take me if you do. I have seen myself bound by him. I have seen myself killed by his creatures." She held on tighter.

He didn't say anything as they flew, merely holding on her so she wouldn't fall. It wasn't long before they were at the house, landing softly. He took a moment to whisper in her ear.

"I won't leave you."

He got the door open and carried her inside. Claire was gone, so they had the house to themselves. He laid her gently on the bed before grabbing some bandages, bandaging around her wings.

Selakir let him work but then pulled him close. "Hold me please. He was cold...he was..."

It was out of character for the young, inexperienced priestess but she lifted her head and kissed him. She crave warmth. She craved comfort and feeling. Whoever that mage was was none of those things and feared his presence. She had seen her dreams. She knew he was her death.

Selakir wanted Draco. He was the promise of life and happiness.

Though he wasn't expecting it, he welcomed it nonetheless. He mmed as he met her kiss, his tongue invading her mouth gently. Their tongues danced together for several moments before he broke the kiss gently. He lowered his head to kiss at her slender neck, licking between kisses.

His hands slid slowly along her sides, rubbing the silk against her gentle curves. His fingers moved over the curves of breasts before engulfing them and squeezing gently as he kneaded her soft flesh over her dress.
