The Compass Rose

Well said Niamh!

*soft smile through a few tears* I have not forgotten the safari either. Memories made richer now in hindsight. Sad how we don't realize how special they are at the time.

I too will miss Harry, and was shocked to hear of his passing.

Fare Thee Well, Arful my friend

Sometimes, as we wend our way through our lives, we come into contact with people who make an impact. Harry was one of these people.
We never met, physically, but enjoyed a great deal of excellent and humurous and serious conversation through the medium of the internet.
Harry was one of the most brutally honest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting, and my life is fuller for the time we shared.
When I suffered the trauma of losing someone close to me, Harry was there, supportive, understanding, serious, honest and an absolute tower of strength to me, a faceless internet friend.
His antics during the Safari hread will always be a part of me. His almost irreverent outlook on life was refreshingly different and always intriguing.
To all of you who knew him personally, to all who knew him though Lit, to all whose lives he touched, remember him as he was, he would want that.
And to Harry, my friend, I say farewell, typing these last few words to you through a mist of tears at the terrible sense of loss I feel for someone who I had never actually met.
That says a lot.
Go well, my friend, tread softly and look out for a wizened old black man in a crisp khaki uniform and a tattered hat who will be happy to share a joint, tell outlandish tales, mutter alot, and who will be overjoyed to have a new friend.
And, Harry - thanks for everything ...............
