The Coven Est. 1774

Rolland

occ: great idea would for you to be one of the farmers in the area, be single or not up to you. But we need other players besides witches. Also need Katy's parents filled.

OOC: sorry about the 17 year old i was thinking in the time period, ok revamping my character. sorry about this everyone

Modesty White (called dusy by friends her own age)
she is 20 an old maid who lives with her mother Constantine White. her father was never mensioned, he had been hung when she was six for being a warloc, her mother never talked about it so Dusty never knew if he really was one. But if he was, Dusty couldn't believe he would be captured and hung so easily, maybe it was just a story and her father was really still out there doing his magic freely.(trying to put a twist that can be used later or with Raven, he could be or know of her father) whatever the case Dusty spent her life taking care of her mother, she never went anywhere but to prayer meeting. Thank God the pastor didn't know about her father, he would find herout in an instant if he did. She always walked around with her eyes closed and with a sturdy stick to guide her way, everyone in town fully believed her to be blind, but she had a secret. She could see, her eyes were what were called witch eyes, a pale green with a dark green circle at the outer edge and surrounding the pupil, death would come soon after the pastor seeing her eyes. No one in town knew of her eyes except her mother, well............ and Katheryn.
Once when she had almost fallen asleep in prayer meeting Katheryn had nudged her, for an instant her eyes flashed open and stared at Katheryn, she closed them quickly but she knew Katheryn now had her life in her hands. As the days went by Dusty expected to be called by the pastor, and have her hearing begin. But to her surprise nothing ever happened. Katheryn must have kept her own council and not told any one.

OOC:better?

Fiera Parris

Abigail Williams. Reverend Samuel Parris. Ann Putnum. Even at this time, these names...mentioned to the right person...would conjure up images of the residents of Salem in a frenzied religious witch hunt...neighbors turning against neighbors...sacred bonds of trust broken by a few girls playing a harmless game and pointing fingers in the wrong direction.

Abigail – the instigator of those events, and perhaps the only real witch of Salem herself – was Fiera’s grandmother. The Reverend Sam Parris her Great-Great Uncle, and Ann Putnum Jr. a distant cousin. This strange lineage, made up of infamous names, was by chance one of the reasons that the villagers talked behind Fiera’s back.

Or perhaps it was her dramatic visage, with a pale, almost silvery blonde hair that was worn in the latest style of the ladies in London. Maybe it was the strange way her extremely wealthy husband and only son had wandered off in a great snowstorm while trying to find firewood, their bodies never found and nothing heard of them again. Could it be how such an upstanding pillar of Christian society, a God-fearin’ woman of just 27, whose connections and influence on a number of prominent families bore deep, could still remain an unattached widow after nearly two years...all alone...in the large house on the hill? But no, ask anyone in the village, and the first thing that would come to mind would be her eyes. Eyes of Satan some whispered behind her back, careful not to let the Pastor hear for held a worthy attendant of his church such as Fiera in the highest esteem. Dark eyes just this side of black that shone with spiteful hints of gold, speckles of what remains of a gold overlay after years of use.

Ah, but there was a darker side to this woman, the secrets that no one should ever find out about. For despite the fact in public she was revered for her dedication to the town and her religion, privately she practiced the darker magic and sorcery that could only be mastered by someone indebted to the devil.

Fiera Parris

Something wasn’t right.

Standing at the window, Fiera gazed past the large plot of fertile land framing her stately property. Rumor had it she was looking for a strong back or two to work the land for pay, and a handsome sum that.

Barren fields skirted the town, which clustered together, the white houses seeking protection from the wily Atlantic winds under the embrace of the Church and Meeting House.

All appeared normal, distant figures tending their land, ladies bundled in patchwork skirts darting from Church to the school to tea with an acquaintance, the least hint of a juicy tidbit of gossip catching their well-trained ears.

But still, something wasn’t right.

Unlike the dwellers of this small Massachusetts town, Fiera had embraced the darker side, and taken comfort in the power bestowed upon her. Magic and sorcery were a way of life, of survival, and in such games only those truly strong survive. The aura that all those bound by magic possess had been upset. There was another force here...very close...that was not of her own doing. Of course there were a few children who had untapped power, but that was a raw feeling that she had become accustomed to. Oh no, this was the doing of an experienced one, dark in heart and mind.

Just her type.

Katy

Later that night....

Katy lay in her bed looking up at the ceiling, waiting. An hour passed when she finally got back out of bed. Deciding to leave off with the petticoats and corset, she threw on a day dress, and her boots. She slowly crept out of the window. Her room raced the forest, so no one would see her exiting her room this way. If she was caught... She didn't want to think of the repentance the Pastor would want for this one. unmarried girls did not go out at night, heck not even married ones. She crept into the forest. Walking in to its depths. all around her she heard noises, an owl hoot, a scamper of small animals, and there was no wind tonight. Which was odd to her, but she shrugged it off.

She made it to a clearing, where the bright new moon shown down on her. The area was well lit thanks to the moos overhead. Good thing, she had forgotten a candle. She walked further back into the woods, following an old deer trail. She came upon a cliff face, and kept walking. Up ahead she saw something against the cliff. Walking slowly, her eyes weary and her heart racing, she crept up. Each step cautious, she moved slowly. She didn't know what was up ahead, but she was brave enough to find out.

A deer jumped out at her, Katy gasped and nearly shrieked in surprise. The deer scattered away in seconds, katy sat there. Her face pure white from the fear of the sudden appearance of that creature. Grasping her chest, she pleaded for her heart to stop pounding to harshly. One her knees weren't weak any more Katy stepped forward again and moved some overhanging brush aside. It was a cave! She sat at the entrance, and listened intently. Listening for any signs of life within, any signs of a creature might live here. She didn't see anything, but she would come back in the morning light and check it out. That would be the perfect place for her and her friends to practice.

Katy moved back to the clearing, making sure she covered her trail behind her with twigs and brushing the dirt free of prints. If she was lucky, which she generally was, no one would find this trail. She sat in the clearing, reading through the book. There were so many herbs here that needed gathered. Descriptions for each one, and what each one would do if taken in large amounts. She felt her pulse jump and stir to life. The excitement of the whole thing was more than she could bare. She wanted to badly to start right this instant with everything that needed done. Katy made mental notes of all the storage containers they would need, bowls, spoons, cups, boiling pot. Where to get these things though? She thought of everyone in town, all the houses were lived in, and no one had anything spare to give. And if she asked for these things people would wonder why. The more she thought, the more she was sure there was an old house up the road from town. She could go there and see what was useful in it. Also save all her quilt money for the peddlers.

She looked back down at the book, and turned to the pages further back. There was a spell to bring rain, wind, to bring health, even a love spell. Katy giggled at this. She wondered if it worked, but decided not to try that one. Love was something she did not need in her life. Marriage was a prison, one she wouldn't get into.

Katy read the wind poem to herself, not daring to open her lips and speak the words.. not yet. She repeated them a few times, and hoped she was saying them right. her eyes fairly glowed with pleasure, she had never had this kind of excitement in her life.. she was so ready for an adventure.

Standing she set the book down, and drew a circle in the pine needles. Slowly she raised her hands palm up into the air, and closed her eyes, her head falling backwards, her hair brushing the ground. In her mind the words ran over and over, moving faster and faster...did she dare try it? She felt herself relax, her palms tingled from being up in the air, or was it from that? She breathed deeply and parted her lips. Whispering, she said the words..and felt a slight breeze. She opened her eyes and focused on the moon, and said it a little louder...

Wind Howl
Wind blow
Wind come to me
As I command thee
Wind Blow!

Suddenly she heard it, the wind! It was coming! She smiled brightly and closed her eyes, tilting her head back further, her arms out stretched. And waited... The wind came down and whipped her hair all around her. her dress pressed into her legs, then lifted her skirts a little. She danced around in circles, laughing like a school girl. It had worked! grabbing the book up, she read on.. Now to make it stop.

Wind Decease
no longer blow
Take thee away
As I command it
let it be so

As quickly as it started, it ended. Hugging herself with glee, Katy hurried and rubbed out the circle and ran home. Climbing back inside her room, She hid the book, and went to sleep with a huge smile.
Tomorrow would be the begining.

"I wonder where Katy is? after that cryptic message this morning i want to know more..." said Aidan to herself as she finished her chores. Sweeping the small house she shared with her father and taking care of the few animals they had as well as making food for her and her father.
She ran to Mackenzies house and found her friends there. She heard sarah say "And then he rode away....i do hope hes alright."
"Hope whos alright?" Aidan asked? After Sarah told her the story of the man on the horse again, the girls got ready to go to the cave Katy had found....who knew? it might be fun, and maybe she could get closer to katy...beautiful katy....

Raven

Seeing the girl enter the den I realized that she was to scared to respond to me. This was going to take a while and maybe a litlle flourish.

"Sara sit before me as I tell you a story. A story of the beggining of my rebirth and your birth. I caution you to keep an open mind and rid yourself of the prejudice in your heart to the workings of magic." At the mention of magic Sara visibly shuttered yet remained seated a look of terror and curiousity in her eyes.

"How old would you say I am Sara, 20, 22. I am 328 years old. I was born the son of Giovany the most powerful Wizard to ever walk the planet. He was killed on my sixth birthday trying to cast a spell that would change the way people felt and thought change the very perception of man kind. As the spell was destroying him for he had not the power to contain it he saw me and an idea popped in his head. He took all of his power and knowledge and past it into me. I know of the beggining of magic and I shall see the end of it. I am not my father I am my own person but thanks to him I am the most powerful wizard, worlock whichever name you prefer, to walk on the earth."

Now time for the flourish. What spell to use, got it. "Sara I wish to present you with a gift." I lift up my hand and concentrate a blue flame rises from my palm and takes the form of a woman. "Do you know who this is Sara, she was the midwife at your birth she is the one who cursed you my gift to you is the first of two steps that will cure you of curse." The image in the flames suddenly jumped and screamed then vanished into a pile of dust. "With her death the power supply to your curse is gone now it can be destroyed however that is not free. You have power in you Sara more so then any woman I have ever met with training and practice you could reach the heavens and parrallel even my own power. Become my disciple and will rid of that curse and so much more. You will learn of things you could never imagine things of beauty and all of your dreams will become reality. ALL of them. I will come to you tommorrow have your answer ready."

I get up and exit the house leaving the poor girl sittiing on the floor without any further explanation. Midnight is waiting for me as usual at the door hourses are much smarter then people give them credit for and more loyal.

(do you want me to meet katy yet or just wait for sara to answer the next day)

Katy

occ: go ahead and meet Katy, Oral.

oc: the next morning Katy awoke refreshed and ready to wreck havoc on a few people. Each morning she woke with the same zest for life. All the thoughts of how she can help someone, do a good deed, and still manage to have her own kind of fun too. She got up and dressed, Dawn was just creeping over the horizon, her parents were already begining their day. Katy hurried as fast as she could, racing out of the house with a wave to her parents, and straight to Machenzie's house. Knocking quickly on the door, she entered without waiting for a responce.

"Ok, i'm here!" She was always one with a huge smile and a loud greeting. The Pastor said she needed to learn decorum. All well, some things are just naturally not there.

She sat down wide eyed and told the girls/women of the cave she found, and all her ideas. She didnt speak of the little spell she casted thought. She didnt want to upset anyone by her stupid actions. She grabbed out the book again, and handed it to Sarah and Aidan to look at. She hovered on the edge of the chair, excitement oozing out all of her pores. She wanted to know what each one felt about this "coven" idea, and if they were in with her.

She glanced outside a moment, hearing someone calling to her. She wasnt sure who it was. Standing up she glanced at all her friends, and said "I'll be right back, I forgot my chores. Keep the book here with you ladies, and ill hurry!" She grabbed her shawl and ran back outside to her parents stable.

It was dark in there when she entered. John must be working elsewhere right now. She hurried and started feeding the horses and cows. She had to feed the pigs, and muck out two stalls before she could race back to Machenzie's house. Her mind racing the whole time on places to get the supplies they needed. She had found a list of herbs in the book, and containers she needed to store them. She also needed to find candles, make a broom for cleaning the circle area, and she needed a specific outfit just for entering the circle. She also had to practice drawing that circle. It had to be perfect cemetry.

Her thoughts kept her occupied while she did her chores, she didnt hear anyone around. She stopped suddenly for a moment and looked around. "someone here?" she called out in a whisper. She felt as if she was being watched...."come out and make yourself known..."

Raven

As I watched the young girl working I wondered to myself why the book chose her to make itself known. She definately cast that spell last night she still has its residue on her. It seems she has noticed the pressence of myself I have become sloppy in my old age well no use keeping her waiting.

"My name is Raven," I say as I appear in front of her seemingly out of no where. "You cast a spell last night one from a book in wich you found. There is no use denying it I can still feel its pressence on you. You needn't worry about me telling anyone either for I wish to be your friend not your enemy. It is time I tell you why I am here but first," with a snap of my fingers all her chores are done.

"There now we shall have the time we need. I have already your friend Sara and now it is time to know you. But first an explanation of sorts. I will not give you my history for that knowledge is sacred and only past from master to disciple however I will tell you why I am here. I have come for the book. You see it has summoned me with its arrival. I have also come for you since you are now its keeper. I can take your friends also if the wish to become my students however you must come. I will teach as a student not a disciple remmember that at all times. Your first lesson is this you must not cast another spell until I say so for they are more dangerous then they seem. Talk with your friends now and meet me in the place in wich you cast that spell I already know of its location and will await you there. You must not come alone bring with you sara for she is vital to your learning and she has a question to answer whoever else you bring is irrelevant. BE THERE AT SUNSET AND BRING THE BOOK." With that I vanish the spell for invisibility is handy however the command is so much nicer.

She will be there and so shall Sara neither can resist my command.

As Aidan sat, trying to absorb all she had been told, about the book, and this Raven, she realized she had to know more, she had to have this power, the power to hurt her father the way he had hurt her, and the power to make Katy love her.....Aidan grew dizzy with the ideas, and as the need to have power grew.....she fainted into mackenzies arms.....

raven

OOC: you will have to talk to katy she was the one presented with the invite my charachter hasn't met yours yet he has only met sara and katy

Katy

occ: Mystic, since the Coven needs as many as 13 witches, we can arrange something where we bring you in. Perhaps meeting all of them on their way into the woods? Someone not sure if it is me sara or machenzie will see good in you, and invite you to join us on our trek.. sound good?

oc: Katy watched as this Raven vanished into thin air. So he knew she had cast a spell? She was a bit worried. He said he was friend, not foe... But still? How could someone know that?? And could others also tell she had casted a spell? She hurried back to Machenzie's to relay the command this Raven had given. She wasnt sure if she wanted to go. After all she found the book, not him. And she wasnt interested in giving it up or its' secrets. The whole walk to Machenzie's, which wasnt a long one, her mind franticly searched for answers. She hadnt had the book more than twelve hours and already a stranger, outside her inner circle, had known about its' exsistance... She needed a solution.

When she got there, she told Sara and Machenzie of the weird guy in the stable, And all he had said to her. She waited for their advice on what to do now. She also handed out a list of the herbs they needed to plant somewhere securely.. Where no one would find their garden. Also had on the list things they needed for the cave.. Now their meeting place.

Lewis!"
He called once again, looking towards the back of the farm. It was Saturday, either Lewis or Sarah should have been at home. They hadn't told him of any trip, this seemed odd.
And whatever odd was evil.
He opened the door, cautiously. Looking in at the house. It was ill fit, from what he could see. Like someone had not done the daily chores inside the house. His eyes turned into small squints as he went inside.
"HELLO!!" He called rather loudly. His answer was a small animal working it's way in some of the wood. He went towards the first room, looking inside. It was Sarah's, and it was empty.
Where was she? He already knew the answer though, she was out talking with the devil. At once a small anger inside him grew. Some special sessions with Sarah were going to begin very soon.
Walking into the next room, he spotted Lewis.
(you didn't give your father a name, I made one up. Feel free to change it if you don't like it)
"Lewis, wake up. It is nearly noon. Good god man, no one should be in bed this late. The good lord frownd on idleness."
He shook the man, but he did not wake. His loud snores continued unabridged.
"Lewis," he shook harder, the white wooden cross around his neck bobbing to his shakes. He nearly flung the man off the bed, and yet there was still no movement.
At once he stopped, looking at the room anew.
"The devils work," he whispered. Lewis had been hit by the devil. But why? Why would the devil want for this man to sleep.
"Sara..." Ahhh, of course. The devil wanted a whore for himself. Who better than to take a poor man's only child. The priest spat on the ground, satan's work was being done all around him.
At once, he got down on his knees. PLacing his hands on the eternally sleeping man, he began to pray to the lord.
He prayed, for the lord's good will to help this innocent man, who was now part of the devil's plan to infest his kindly town.
"Come, awake, arise from the devil's curse."
At once, the man's eyes fluttered open. Harold gave a pleasing nod, thanking the lord for his kindliness.
"Wha... what's going on?"
"There is no time for explananations. I need to know where your daughter is, she is in great danger."
"Danger? What's wrong?"
"The devil has his claws in her, I need your help to bring her back to the land of the righteous."
He shook his head, "I don't understand. She should be out doing her chores or inside. That's all she's allowed to do."
He nodded. Quickly, he walked out to the stables. If she wasn't there he could only assume the worst. They would need a search party, and quickly. It is said that the whore's of satan decompose rather quickly.

OOC: Katy & Raven i put an in to both your characters in my revamping post, if the opening works let me know i am free for PMs and am online alot

Raven

While waiting for the girls to arrive I cant help but think over the events of the day. First to find a girl with more raw power than any I have ever seen and so young to. Katy the fiery little bombshell I will enjoy leaching her for her spirit is as wild and fierce as her red flaming hair. I hope they either come alone tonight or bring no more then 5 girls there is much they need to know. All the elements are falling into place. The book has revealed itself after 100 years. It has picked a girl as its bearer who is kind and wild. The protector is an innocent with dreams that contradict her. Now all that are left unseen are the Watcher who surveys the world through different eyes, the Temptress who is more deadly then the most venomous snake, the Mother who shall watch after the group as if they were her own children, the Ancient One who shall bring wisdom and unite the whole (me), the Revenge Seeker who lives in pain.

Once this small group comes togethar the true form of this mission will take place even I do not know what that is. It's nearly sunset they should be arriving shortly.

OOC: if anyone doesnt like the name i gave to your character feel free to change it i tend to go overboard on plot and have a thing for theatrics.

Aidan

As the girls walked through the forest, holding hands, and looking for the plants Katy had told them to be aware of, Aidan felt a presence. As though she was being watched, and as if the person watching her knew more of her life than any of her friends. She let go of Sarahs hand ans ran ahead to Katy
"Katy, i think someone is watchign us" she said quietly.
"I feel it too, i believe it is Raven....using magic to remain invisible" katy replied, taking Aidans arm....
"Come!" she called to the others, "Lets hurry! the cave is just ahead"

OOC: Sooo sorry guys, I've had no end of trouble with my provider. Back now!

IC:
Sarah was the last of the group, trailing behind as she looked around in fear. What was she doing here? If but a word of this sinful adventure came to the village, it would be decided that she was the one who put the farmer to sleep, that she was a witch...
And yet--was there truly a way she could rid herself of the curse? And maybe help others who were in the same need as her? Certainly such a thing could not be sinful...

Katy

She stalked through the forest, even strides that ate up the ground. She was in a hurry to get to the cave. To show the others where they would hide all their secrets. She too felt someone watching them, But she didnt feel threatened. Looking no where but ahead, She led the girls to the cave.

"This! is the place we will keep everything we need... I Do hope it meets with approval. And ladies... This place is to be shown to no one! We shall swear it now. Even if threatened with Death, we will never speak of this place. Ever! No exceptions.." She waited for everyone's oath and then revealed the trail to the cave itself. The meadow where she had cast was behind them, the cave ahead.

"If you continue up this trail and behind some bushes.. there lies the cave. For now we will just wait in this meadow here for Raven. I am very interested in what he has to say to all of us...."
Her eyes narrowed and her thoughts ran wild. She was trusting, but she wasnt stupid either. If he scared any of them, they would deny everything and walk away.. Katy didnt bring the book with her this time.. She didnt know who this Raven was, and she was not going to risk losing that book.. She had placed it in a safe place. where no one could find it but her.

"ladies, lets all move into the meadow and sit, if someone comes by we will appear to be picking various herbs around the glen.. So keep your baskets with you.. Toss weeds in there if you have to.. we can always say we made a mistake and picked the wrong things.."

Katy went first, taking her basket along with her, and sitting in the lighted middle. It was peaceful here.. She couldnt hear anything but the singing of the birds, and the girls moving around. She kept her eyes moving, though appeared to be at ease. Somewhere Raven was lurking, She knew he was here somewhere.. After all he had commanded they be here. She wondered if the 4 of them was enough for a coven.. All four were here herself, Machenzie, Adian, and Sara..

Katy looked up and spotted someone walking behind some trees.
Curious as to whom it was, yet worried, Katy asked the girls to hush as she moved slwoly towards the unknown person. Katy jumped behind a huge oak tree and slowly snuck up on whoever it was. As she got closer she seen it was a female.. Ok where have I seen her before? Katy wracked her brain...

"excuse me.. ?" (This is to Modesty)

occ: Sorry had to improvise a little. Ended up in the forest already. Hope this is ok :)

Modesty Called Dusty

I had been walking in the woods alot, in the woods i could keep my eyes open, when all of a sudden Katy was there in front of me. no use in closing my witch eyes she had already seen and so had all her friends now, i was doomed to death if one of them mensioned my eyes to the pastor, i stood frozen in fright.

Aidan

Aidan looked up, startled and saw the blind girl walk into the clearing. Except she had her eyes open, and was most definatly not blind. SHe had entrancing green eyes and was staring in fright at the 5 people gathered there.
She saw katy talk to her, and hoped thigns would be alright, maybe the girl would be a good addition to their coven....

Katy

"well hello there Dusty, isnt it? We're out gathering herbs and saw you wandering around...ummm you know Sara, Machenzie, Adian dont you?" She didnt know what to tell the girl as to why they were there, so she used the herb gathering bit..

"would you like to come and chat with us for a few minutes?" She looked at Dusty, she looked really scared..

"Dont worry, we're not going to tell anyone we seen your eyes open.. If you promise not to tell anyone you seen us here today..Is it a bargain?" Katy waited for her responce..

Harold rode up to the modest ranch. His eyes squinted at the surrounding scene. Carefully, he walked up to the house, looking in at the front garden.
Was that devil's herb? He tore it out, sniffing it carefully? No, it wasn't. Just some cilantro that had grown awry. Placing it back in the ground for the lord to nurture, he knocked on the door.
"Pastor Von Garrett, so nice of you to come by. Is Katy in trouble again?"
He gave a wicked smile, "Not that I'm aware of. I just wanted to talk to her for a few minutes."
"She's not here right now. I think she's over at Machenzie's house."
A deep growl came from his throat again. He looked back at the other side, past the small meadow. Her house was over there. Who knows what was going on. Something told him where he found Katy and Machenzie, he would find Sara as well.
Three of them, were there more? Had something come during the night and taken his flock right from under his watchful eyes? The devil was indeed here now. He would need to stop them.
Grabbing his horse, Harold quickly made his way to the house of Machenzie. It didn't surprise him that it was emtpy either. He checked out the entire house, looking from the attic to the floorboards. Not so much as a single smiddgeon of anything.
Evil was here.
It wasall around. Just like the feeling of someone else in the room. The very stench of evil was here. Why was the devil here?
Good lord, help me in this endevour.
With all of them away, and a good conscious for the devil's work, Pastor Harold went back to town. He rode straight to the town hall, where a small barn served as everything from a court room, to a meeting place for the entire town.
Now, only the mayor and a few other high officials were in there.
"Good, you are all still here. I need to talk to you about a grave danger I've found in the city. There is a devil among us, taking the daughters away from their homes."
With a half hour, most of the town was out searching the countryside for the missing girls.
