They're like a big clementine. Really ugly, but easy to peel, no seeds and soooo sweet.

It's technically a dekopon (which in itself is a variety of satsuma, Sumo is the trade name) and it's very popular in Aus too and Tess and I always wait for Sumos to come back into season and buy boxes of it. That's right, boxes not bags. Haha. I go through like 3 a day... You know it's a good morning when you wake up to posts about your favourite citrus...

The pomelo rootstock actually makes it easier to peel as well. That's why it's such a messfree eating experience. Perfect for eating in bed.

No, no. Grape is still the preferred choice for bedroom fruit action. It's Tess's favourite fruit for that. Table grapes and cut strawberries. Mmm what a delicious mess.

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder because I actually find satsumas to be a very pretty citrus. The most aesthetic is probably Buddha's Fingers/Hand tho. Just don't stick it anywhere you don't want citrus acid.

Not very good eating but the oil is super fragrant and is used in ceremonial perfumery in China and Japanese Zen traditions. Hence Buddha.
