Well sub 2 was a moonshot for the longest time. The shoe he did it in is under 100 grams. Marginal gains are everything at that point. Apparently London conditions were perfect for PB.

Apparently there was a Nike runner who did it but it was very controversial. I’m not a runner so I didn’t fully understand. I used to run a lot and I was always trying to do a sub 20 5k.

Yeah Eliud Kipchoge's attempt was behind pacers in formation who acted as windbreak the whole time. Also the second caveat was that it was a Nike event so not under official World Athletics conditions...

I just saw a tweet about it having controversy…it’s still pretty amazing
