The Cozy Corner

I am grilling pork short ribs. Nothing special for seasoning. Just salt and pepper.

Then I'm going to sauté it in a tomatillo and serrano salsa. Serving that over a small bed of buttery white rice. I already made the masa for flour tortillas and will be making about a dozen so hubby can take some in the morning.
I tried growing tomatillos to preserve but I didn't get enough fruit from my harvest. The store bought one is just not the same. Not to mention that tomatillo are still kinda niche in Aus so pretty expensive.

Tomatillos love hot weather. I had a small green house and grew them every summer, but lost the greenhouse after a real bad windstorm. I never asked hubby to build me a new one. You're right though - store bought is just not the same. Thankfully, there are a few good Mexican-Latin stores within 25 miles that carries them - imported of course.

Maybe a little tip. If you bury one of those small irrigation hoses - the black ones that bleed though, they'll love it. They love hot weather but watering them above ground gives off too much humidity and they don't like that.

Amazing tips, Carmen. I'll apply them to the next crop and report back. Cheers.

Had a late lunch/early dinner at Pizza Ranch with my two oldest kids, my Parents and my Brother and his family after spending the afternoon at the Deer and Turkey Expo. Kids had a great time at both. But now I remember why I never take them to Pizza Ranch....its bad when the fried chicken is far, far better than the pizza lol. Oh well, all in all a great day!

Even the name Pizza Ranch sounds suss.

I totally use one of those packets because I’m lazy when it comes to cooking. Still love me? 🥹
Always only love for your Girl!

@LatinaCarmen1980 would shake a finger at me if she knew what I call taco salad anyway.

And I like Pizza Ranch - now it’s been easily over a year since I ate there but I’m not a food snob.
