The Deplorable Tariffs Are Paid for by Americans. Current administration admits it; data proves it

Treasury Secretary Bessent is a dangerous lunatic. He openly admits he’s created “enemies lists” of people who criticize Trump, and he’s going to use the federal government to persecute the people on his list.

Sounds like he is auditioning for another position in the administration and playing to trump and vought

Article about Trump’s bullshit idea to bribe voters with $2000 tariff checks.

Most Republicans are pretending there is a choice to be made between paying the checks or reducing the national debt. The truth is that neither is an option.

One Republican tells the truth:

Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.), the vice chair of the Senate Republican Conference, said money coming in from tariffs needs to go toward slowing the growth of the debt.

“Any income that’s coming in from anywhere is reducing the deficit at this point,” he said, noting the national debt is now nearly $40 trillion. “Whatever dividend that would be paid … would still add to our debt.”

We are still running a huge deficit. The national debt cannot be reduced while continued deficits are adding to the debt, that’s not how math works. Tariff taxes collected from American consumers and businesses isn’t nearly enough to eliminate the deficit.

I expect Trump will bribe voters with checks even though it will add to the national debt.

And even the Supreme Court now acknowledges that.

Which leaves only trump himself and reich guide as the sole remaining people still unable to acknowledge that fact.

A Republican senator states the obvious: sending tariff checks to everyone would increase the deficit.

Republican Sen. Ron Johnson (Wis.), a leading fiscal hawk in the Senate, says the country “can’t afford” President Trump’s proposal to send out $2,000 tariff “dividend” checks to working-class Americans to help them afford higher living expenses.

“Look, we can’t afford it. I wish we were in a position to return the American public their money, but we’re not,” Johnson told Fox Business’s Maria Bartiromo.

I think Trump will do it anyway because he wants to bribe voters before the midterms. And he’s never given a fuck about deficits.
