The Dragons Guards

She jumped back out of the way of the crystals he spat and her eyes flashed as her anger rose and brought lava up from the floor to melt the crystals where they were then hardining and cooling when they were gone.. her eyes did not leave his.

. There is no dragon here that you can dominate only myself.., and i am no easy prey.. come then Hark if that is who you truly are... she left the cave then as quickly as she could leading him out into the open so that she had more room to manover

So, the little birdy told you that too? He yawned. " No matter, I will simply take you insted. A fire spirt is a fire spirt, after all." Harken refused to move, however. As a gem dragon native to water, he would find open areas where he would need to fly haphazerd at best. No, this woman wasen't about to give up such valuble text, so as long as he stayed here he could force her to come back. He drew in a breath, silicating steam rising from his nostrels, as he aimed at the shelf containing all the books, perpared to raise his claws in defence when she inevitable attacked.

celia

Damn celia cursed so he would not be drawn forth.. so be it.. where had she left his little friend.. if he wished to distroy what was preshious to her she would retalieate in kind. ok you want to play.. here birdy...

She saw the bird in the air flying and waved a hand causing flame to shoot up out of one of the holes in the ground around the valcano along with scalding steam .. she didnt hit it enough to harm it badly but singed his feathers a bit to see if it would gain some attention.

In his periphial vison, he saw her turn her concentration away from him.

Good improv Nuttsy, he smiled as, faster then a sailfish, shifted his mouth so it was aimed directly at the girl.

The torret of pure water broke loose, engulfing her within it's fury as he kept pushing the energy out. The lack of oxygen and heat would dous her down eventually, he reasoned, as the thrush landed on his head horns.

She'll give up after this, he theorized. That would put your average Archdemon on the brink of unconciouness.

celia

Fool she cursed herself and simply raised the heat around her turning the water that he surrounded her with to steam her red hair was lose now from its braid and looked more like living flame, as she looked up at him and smiled..

she began going threw her mind thinking over the lessons she had learned and studied what could she use against him what dragon had he said's skin he had stolen...Think Celia ... he is no fool or clumsy knight easyly defeated.. think...

It had become a battle of wills; who would give up first? So long as she kept her heat up this high, stopping the water would send him and his borrowed skin up in smoke. Still, if she stopped, she would be turned into so much powerless and damp flesh, easy prey for his superior physcal strength.

Teacher, he grimmised in his eyes. You will have a sucessful student before you die! This I swear on the Center of the Realms

(OCC- Ya, short, but we are kinda at a standstill now. Remember, you break you concentration for a NANOSECOND and every bit of firepower you have will be snuffed

How can i stop him... he is an amythest dragon stone, made of gem.. all stone can be melted in flame.. how hot do i need to make him to defeat him.. she begain raising the heat further and further as well as raising her arms to encircle him in flame as she did so...

she was starting to sweat under the strain of using so much energy.. must .. keep focused .. her vision was starting to blur.. and darkness over come her noooo this cant be.. i used too much .. just as she passed out completely she thought she saw him fall to earth.. and then she knew no more..

Lilly a 21yr old from a village between Freya's lake and Roxis forrest domain had heard stories off and on thru out her life from the elders of another village that had been guarded by a dragon and distroyed when the dragon had gone to seek the wisdom of his brethren leaving only 5 survivors in its wake.. the dragon gifting these survivors with special abilitys so that they may continue to guard him, and themselves.

Curious about this legend and not wanting to marrie the man her family chose Lilly packed things she thought she would need to survive away from home and slipped out into the night.. she wasnt sure which direction to head in first but thought she would begin by going farther into the woods before turning twords a lake she had heard of.. some said the remains of the old village lay perhaps a months journy from there on horse back..

Lilly was lath of form standing 5ft 2 in and was around 110 lbs soaking wet. she was dressed as most any village girl she carried a staff, and small dagger for protection. She had long blonde hair and sky blue eyes..

Lilly found herself facing an old road, overgrown with milkweeds and camomile and with deep mossy ruts. On either side of it lay forest. To the immediate sides there were many shrubs--blackberry bushes, patches of fern and rows of small saplings--but past that was primeval forest. Great oak and maple rose and spread cathedral like, towering above the girl.

Not far from the road lay an old mossy stone about the height of a tall man, weathered and ancient looking. An old road marker.

Hm, he wondered as he started to slag. Perhaps I underestimated her

Their wasen't much else in the world now except steam, tons and tons of steam, and the spewing sound of water. Then, even through the mist, he saw her began to glow a deep orange.

He had started melting after that.

Did any of the other Last Dragons ever have to deal with melting? NO. When whoever he'd swiched skins with got his back, he'd definatly owe them a favor.

The heat came at him in a wave, as his tank suddenly ran dry. The last bit of water came out as almost a solid missle, smashing into her form and possably breaking a few bones. It was almost unbearable...

"Nuttsy," he raised his gaze up to his familer, who was sweating so much that it looked as though he was melting too. " A bit of help here?"

The Thrush fed his energies into the skin, which allowed him to remain awake after the blow. Obvoiusly, the books where a soggy mess, as well as just about everything else in the cave. Not the best place for a fire spirt right now.

Shrugging with what little energy he had left, he heaved the woman over his jagged shoulder and set out towards the peak. It was going to be a long climb.

Lilly

Lilly walked up the road to the marker and gently moved the over grown vines and weeds out of the way so she could brush the dirt from the sign to read what it said.

Had she not grown up in this area she would have been aw inspired by what she saw of the cathedral like trees, but she still found them beautiful and interesting.. unable to make out the markings tho it looked like some sort of warning.. that she couldnt read very well..

shurging she continued on her way past the marker in the road hoping the road a head would prove to lead her to good fortunes because she would not return to wed the toad her family had chosen.

Celia

Celia was unconshious after the battle but was roused by being carried. her energy slowly rebuilding itself.. she moaned and moved slowly her stomach telling her she was extreamly hungry, and her head ached from her efforts before. Her body feeling as tho she had been beaten altho she knew she hadnt it just felt that way..

She tryed to sit up only to have the room spin as she wondered how she had gotten where she was and what had happened to Hark.. her memory was blank and she remembered nothing after the battle.. it was taking time for here eyes to adjust and focus so she could look around with out feeling dizzy..

The grasses and weeds in the ruts suggested that no wagon nor any regular traffic of any beasts of burden had trod this path in a while. She could hear birdsong--the twittering of finches and the whistling of thrushes, the chattering croak of a magpie.

Elsewhere the wind in the swaying tree boughs and in rustling shrubs and weeds brought the warning noises of the birds to the ears of Roxis. He was slow to rouse, like the very vegetation he was heart kin to, but he stood at length and began to walk along forest paths known only to the forest animals, listening, alert. He began to know the path being used, where it had begun to be used, and where the walker--whoever it was--would end up...

Lilly

Lilly hummed softly to herself as she walked to pass the time, off and on thru out the day she thought she was being watched but did not hear or see anything out of ordanary and so continued on...it had been a beautiful day but the sun would be setting soon and she needed to find a place to camp.

Looking around she found a small clearing a few feet off the main road that was relitivly shelttered by the older trees and would be comfortable to rest in. She set about making camp and preapairing for night to come.

While Lilly was making her way along the path about noon was when her family noticed she was missing and along with her intended went out in search of her allerting the villige that she was missing.. they searched in every direction accept the old forrest path Lilly had taken beleiving no one would be foolish enough to travel there..

Many beleved it lead to the old village or to a the shrine of the earth god, but where ever it led none had come back..

Freya

Freya was amazed at the things she saw in the city of machines she had seen them from a distance in the reflections of her lake using the water to scry and see far distances and other areas and to keep up with the changes in the world around them, but this was the first she saw of them up close..

They stopped near a long metal monster and she eyed it warily watching as people got on and off of it leaving what looked to be the creatures belly.. you want me to get inside that ?? she asked and seeing that he truly wanted her to she complyed but was not too happy about it.

Yea come on it's going soon"

Dea said but that was a bit he was thinking it was funny but now there was two men in black looking for someone as he wonder what they wanted then one looked at dea and point as he came over to them and stopped in fount of them and the smaller man asked him

Man in Black: " Are you Dea?"

The man ask as he pulled out what looked like a small knife and looked at him
and smiled. as he was about to stab him with it

Roxis arrived towards evening in the general area that the stranger had come to. The wind through the boughs of the trees and their rustling leaves had brought him news of what tastes and sounds the air bore. And now he could smell on the wind a human. A woman. He felt odd about this--the only women he had seen--rarely at that--were his fellow guardians, and he preferred his own company and that of his friends the plants. But he was curious--and besides, it was his duty to the Dragon who had saved him. He must find out who this intruder was. Was she dangerous, and if so would he need help in defeating her? He was confident, for his was one of the most subtle and yet powerful of all the powers bestowed by the Dragon. Hidden by the trees he approached quietly the place where he felt sure she must be, to observe, listen and if need be judge and act...

*&#^@%%>>#* He thought to himself as he once agian forced one foot over the others. Why in the Realms was he carrying her to the top of the volcano again? Oh ya, that twing of pity he had.

"Nuttsy," he got out as he inhaled. " Remind me, first time we go to the Crystal Sea, find this guy and give him a big thank you, ok."

"Ighty Hark," the livly chirp responded. That voice would never get hold.

It had been days; the volcano seemed to be conspiring agenst him with variuos falling rocks, pits, and shattered passes. Most likly a producat of the aracane link between his victeam and her enviorment. Figures.

Suddenly, he felt a bit of movement on his shoulderblades. She had awoken.

Tired, and a bit parched, he tossed her into a nearby wall, breaking even more of her bones in the process. He needed to be SURE she couldent fght

Looking around Celia recognized that she was at least in her own cave, but she also noticed that she wasnt alone.. everything was still a bit fuzzy and her body was still extreamly swore.. she wondered how many of her bones might be broken and how long it would take her to heal..

She could already feel the comforting warmth of the cave seeping into her body and feel the healing heat searching threw her healing her a little bit at a time. She wanted to sleep and let herself rejuvinate but her curiosity and a small bit of fear got the better of her tho she wouldnt admit to being afraid if she could help it.

What is it you want from me ? she asked sure he was near by and surpised she had managed that much she was growing stronger by the minuet but her body was also insisting she sleep so she could get better faster. She fell asleep waiting for him to answer

Lilly

Lilly fell asleep, after making sure the fire she had started to cook the food she had brought was burned down. She had enjoyed looking at the stars and listining to the sounds of the forest and animals around her, and wondered how long it would take her to reach the old village or shrine that the villagers had spoken of.

She can speak already? I would have thought. *Yawn* Great, he coulden't even get a cohernt thought in without yawning. Staying awake for 96 hours did that to a guy. Without a thought in the world, except his yawns, he plumped into sleep.

Nuttsy knew what to do, however, he stood watch, strong upon Hark's head horns, ready to respond if she awoke again

celia

She didnt know if it were days or only hours later but she woke slowly and got shakly to her feet holding onto one of her bookshelves only to fall to her knees when she let go.. Damn!! she thought.. at least i am awake and aware now.. the rest would come...

She saw Hark then curled up infront of the entrance still in Dragon form.. she also noticed the Thrush once more.. Little one.. ? I must ask you to let me leave while he still sleeps.. i'll not attack i've not the energy for it ... yet.. if you let me leave i'll go in peace..

she had a feeling she already knew what the birds answer would be but she had to try.. sence she didnt have enough energy to walk yet let alone fight, she would have no choice but to crawl to the secret exit if she could make it that far before Hark woke.

"Simple no," Nuttsy taunted, flying over and biting at her ears, jumping between each one so she diden't have time to smash him

She had enjoyed looking at the stars and listining to the sounds of the forest and animals around her, and wondered how long it would take her to reach the old village or shrine that the villagers had spoken of.

Roxis stood at the edge of the little clearing. He was at first angry that she had brought fire to the forest but then observed how she handled it. He was slow to the true anger that made him inexorably rage, and so his observation calmed him to thoughtfulness.

First of all, he had not in some time seen a human woman who was not one of his comrades. The suggestion of a body very different from his own intrigued him as he saw her clothing now and then hint at her shape. Though this was a strong young woman, a peasant girl, nevertheless she was fair and her skin seemed from the distance he watched from softer than his own. He was fascinated and restless within. Hints of memories of his former life disturbed him and he shook them off, for now.

Second, he knew that fire was not always the enemy of the forest. It would purge, and new growth would come, stronger than before. She had handled it well, watching her fire and putting it out properly.

What he did want to know was what she intended. If she was harmless it should be an easy enough matter to turn her back.

Celia

Foul bird.. Celia thought cursing as he flew at her biting her ears.. she was just a fraction of an inch too slow for the moment to deal with him.. and stopped trying to move from where she was simply ducking down and covering her head and ears with her arms to keep him from biting her further.

She thought about raising the temprature enough to knock him out but it wouldnt do her any good because she was still too weak from fighting Hark to try anything like that yet.. Damn it..

she lay there keeping her head covered and waiting for more of her strenght to return.. it wouldnt be long now until she could walk.. she needed to get away to get some food and recover she wasnt sure what Hark had planned and if she could help it she wasnt going to stick around and find out.

Deciding to try her legs again she used the bookshelf once more while at the same time ducking the thrush's attacks and gained her footing.. slowly begain trying to make her way around the room to make her escape.

Lilly

Lilly woke in the morning and began cleaning up her camp sight leaving nothing behind save the now cold ashes from where her fire durning the night had been.. Moving on her way now she continued down the path.. continuing this pattern for the next few days.

She still felt as tho she were being watched and worried that someone from the village had seen her leave and might be following her, but if they were why did they not show themselves she even thought perhaps a wild anamial was near but then why did it not attack..

These thoughts made her a bit afraid but she was determind not to turn back, there was nothing waiting for her there but an ugly older man who had already had 2 wives die in child birth and alot of children who were not even her own.. no she would not go back...
