The Economy

Scary and getting scarier. Doesn't help any of us except trying to help fund his deficits. Would someone please stop him before it all collapses?

It'll take the mid-terms and impeachment to stop him.

The GOP reps by and large and terrified of him - and if he is impeached, I'd expect him to try and use Presidential orders and crap like that to fight his way through. Regardless, he needs to go. He's doing way more damage than good at this point.

The US trade deficit is bouncing up and down. Imports up, exports down in November.

US trade deficit widens by the most in nearly 34 years in November

The U.S. trade deficit widened by the most in nearly 34 years in November amid a surge in capital goods imports, likely driven by an artificial intelligenceinvestment boom, which could prompt economists ‌to trim their economic growth estimates for the fourth quarter.

The trade gap increased 94.6% to $56.8 billion, the ‌Commerce Department's Bureau of Economic Analysis and Census Bureau said on Thursday. The percentage change was the largest since March 1992.

Goods ‌imports advanced 6.6% to $272.5 billion, with capital goods soaring $7.4 billion to a record high.

Exports tumbled 3.6% to $292.1 billion in November. Goods exports plunged 5.6% to $185.6 billion.

I honestly didn't think things could get this bad this quickly.
Keeping the demented president away from the public has become a two-edged sword.
The public is insulated from the President's rapidly deteriorating mental capabilities...BUT
Trump is now insulated more than ever before from public opinion, relying upon carefully curated sites on the internet whilst the wagons of exclusion keep tightening up the circle.

The billionaire tech bros are working feverishly to put a shine on the cosplay patriot they've installed as vice president, but despite nearly a month of constant exposure to the public spotlight, the consensus is is that Vance is still not ready for the Golden Office....and now they have to re-examine their options and expectations.

We'll know we're in the endgame when the Mossad defenestrates poor Usha Vance. The only question is when.
Rob always starts with armchair psychiatry, pivots to tech-bro puppet masters, sprinkles in some palace-intrigue speculation, and then lands on… Mossad assassination fantasies? That’s a Reddit thread that forgot to log off.

If Trump is “insulated,” it’s apparently not from your demented imagination, which seems to have unlimited access and no adult supervision.

When you’re ready to talk about actual policies, decisions, or facts, let me know. Until then, maybe dial back the Tom Clancy cosplay and step away from the conspiracy blender.

Amazing how fast you reached for a sexual insult the moment you ran out of arguments. That’s not insight, it’s projection mixed with your persecution kink. When a coward, like yourself, can’t defend his words, he starts inventing fantasies about other people’s motives and orientations. It’s easier than admitting you're losing. My disagreement isn’t desire, and my criticism isn’t courtship. Your age-crazed war with the misfortunes of your own life isn’t important, or sane enough to inspire obsession. Try arguing like an adult next time instead of outsourcing your insecurities to cheap smears.

The former US Republic turned vampire empire can't keep the lights on, can't deliver healthcare, can't stop mass shootings, and can’t govern without political executions. It can’t serve a near $40T debt, can’t stabilize the dollar as gold surges past $5,000/oz., can’t hold its global position, and can’t settle mass public outrage.

Yet it has a mandate to ‘fix’ other societies with bombs. That's not governance; that's imperial, criminal malfeasance guised as ‘responsibility.’

What does minding our own affairs have to do with domestic welfare?

I wish to no end we would stop all money in foreign aid . . .
Dear Buffalogurl:

Have you considered that a very large and systematic share of US ‘foreign aid’ is routinely diverted from humanitarian or development purposes into military assistance, the enrichment of US corporations and contractors, the maintenance of US bases and client regimes, and other instruments of imperialist influence?

This is no accidental or exceptional feature; it is a structural manifestation of modern imperialism: aid is one of many levers used by the US ruling class to secure markets, resources and geostrategic dominance at the expense of the global working class.

Political influence and bribery through ‘soft’ channels alone [philanthropic instruments and foundations, lavish ‘aid’ or consultancy contracts, etc. are used to purchase influence. This is also called ‘bribery.’

The Clinton Foundation case and other channels show how corporate and state donors use charitable vehicles to intertwine private profit and foreign policy aims. And don’t assume for a moment that the ‘Clinton’ reference constitutes this as an attack on the [uppercase ‘D’] Democratic tendency.

A very large portion of US overseas security assistance and military aid directly funds armed forces, equipment and base access [this runs into tens of billions annually when combined with weapons sales, security aid, FMF lines and training].

Aid redirection benefits the US ruling class and allied elites: defense contractors, banks and transnational firms profit, client-state elites are bribed or rewarded, and imperial geopolitics is advanced. The working class in aid-recipient countries receive little genuine relief. Instead their lives are subordinated to the strategic needs of imperialism.

Domestically, the same logic channels resources away from healthcare, education and social needs toward war and corporate subsidies, as shown by the contrast between soaring military budgets and mass hardship at home.

That is the point I made in my antecedent post that the US can’t do anything good at home. The ongoing wrangling over public housing, welfare, etc. provides political cover for the enormity of ongoing corruption that promotes US ruling class influence the world over.
