The Gods' Game

John/Juran

I set off for the farm at a gallop with my sword drawn. I wanted some of the fun. I see a couple of orcs exiting the barn as I approach the farm. I urge my mount on at a full charge into them. I knock one over as I decapitate the other. Quickly I leap from the saddle and prepare to engage the other, when I notice that the orc's head has been crushed by my steed. I grab my shield and set about looking for others.

"What's the matter, are all of the orc's afraid of one elf?" I asked, almost yelling, as Iwalk about the farm looking for more of the orcs.

Narration

The first into the farm, Juran was also the first to see the worst sight there. Inside one of the barns about a dozen orcs were gathered in a circle. The quiet sobs of a woman, too pained to even scream anymore, came from within the circle. As he drew nearer, he saw the orc who was obviously leading the group casting spells, focusing his energy on the hidden woman. Each spell he cast, she whimpered. But the whimpering was becoming quieter and quieter.

Shane/Shikima

well hell if everyone else was going to the farm so was he he took his mount out around the barn and listend as he went for any sounds that wasnt his friends movements and such . he stopped at the outside of the barn and listened hearing something inside the barn

John/Juran

Inside the closest barn I can see a dozen orcs gathered in a circle around an unseen woman who is sobbing. My blade starts to glow with a magical light as I approach the barn. In orcish, which I can't explain how I know, I say to the orcs "How about playing with someone your own size?".

The orcs are startled by my sudden appearance. Not waiting to see what they do I charge them and drive my blade into the chest of the one that appears to be the leader. I pull my blade free from his corpse and start swinging savagely at the rest of them. Some start running in fear, others just stand there dumbfounded, and others start to fight.

Still recovering from the spells I had cast, I watch the others approach the farm. Juran draws his blade, which is glowing a soft blue color, and walks into the barn. Soon thereafter, I hear the sounds of a battle, and the orc flying out of a shattered window confirms that Juran is having fun. Looks like its time for me to join in.
I dismount near the farmhouse, and with Skrrytch flying overhead I move toward the barn. The closer I get, the more I feel something is wrong. When I step inside I know what it is.
I see the results of Juran's fun with orcs. Bodies and parts are everywhere. In a corner of the barn is a woman, & something is over there with her, but I can't quite make it out. Then I hear a voice begin to chant in orcish, and before I can react, a blade arches down & pierces the woman's chest.
The scream coming from her was horrifying, even to me. Blood foutained out from her mouth, chest, and eyes, pooling on the ground in front of her. The old Orc’s voice rose higher as he chanted, and finally he fell silent. The blood continued to pour out of the woman, and then something strange happened. The blood on the ground started to move, and take on a form. First a head, then shoulders, and finally a entire creature stepped out of the pool, red droplets littering the ground around it.
The creature had a beetle-like head, and a humanoid torso, with a snake’s lower body, but with a scorpion-like stinger. It had four arms, two human-like and two ending in scythe-like blades. The entire creature was the color of blood, and it continued to drip from its wet body.
“ Juran, get back. This old fool summoned a BloodReaver

The Blood Reaver

The beast reared as it seemed to sniff the air, antenae searching, tasting, looking for prey. And there the prey was. One man, alone, a weak opponent and but a snack to the monstrous creature. It slithered forwards towards Juran, hissing and snapping its mandibles as it did. The sword-like arms thurst and slashed the air angrily, moving faster and more dangerously than the lumbering form would have seemed to allow. A few seconds later it was within range, ready to make a kill.

John/Juran

I hear Arzat's warning in time to see the Bloodreaver approaching with a speed that didn't seem possible. Quickly I start backpeddling out of the barn. Hoping I can keep out of its striking distance, and that I can get some help from the others.

"Uh, guys, I think I might be slightly outmatched on this one" I yell to the rest of the group as I move backwards.

Shane/Shikima

well he heard his friend yell that he might be outmatched and knew that the horse wasnt going to be quick enough so he leapt off and ran to his friend's side and grinned at juran " ugly thing isnt it? think we can take it?" his ears lay back flat on his head watching the beast come towards them as he drew his sword and grins

( bah i didnt know this many posted since my last...mail notification only sent one out )

Andrea Ishkama

Men always seem to run into a battle without plotting or anything. Thinking seemed to be their enemy, not the monsters in this land.

I watched as they all ran to the barn. Shame they didn't think of climbing to the top and jumping in with the surprise attack.

I started climbing, finding the walls slick. Crap. Changing shoes, to my spider climbing boots, I tried again. My feet kept hold of the slick wood with not a problem this time. Looking down from a patch in the roof, I saw what appeared to be some gastly smelly monster, just in time to hear "I think I am outmatched on this one."

I pulled my sword, its blade sharp from extra care. "Bonsia!" I scream as I jump plummeting my blade into the monsters back as I fall from the roof.

The advantage of surprise didn't really help as he turns and I go flying off his back into the grass next to Arzat.

"What? YOU can't figure some spell to deactivate that thing?" I yell at him before running up to help Juran.

The Blood Reaver

Another tasty morsel. This one looks a little leaner though, so for a second I consider just which food looks tastier. Then I know. This one tried to attack. I turn around and slither after Ishkama. Saliva drips from my mandibles, slick with toxins as I prepare to eat. Food. I am so hungry. And this morsel is helpless. I raise a blade above me and prepare to strike.

John/Juran

I see the Bloodreaver turn towards Ishkama. Now is my chance to strike. I rush forward and bring my sword slicing down on its tail with a mighty swing to sever the stinger.

The Blood Reaver

I hiss in pain as the savage sweep nicks my tail. Then I swing it wildly, slashing the scorpion point across the food that tried to attack. I hear him groan as my tail punctures him and pushes him aside. Let him rest as the toxins flow through him. Let him suffer before I eat him. For now, I turn my attention back to the woman.

John/Juran

I am thrown against a wall as I feel the poison start to flow though my veins. It feels like my blood is on fire. I try to get back on my feet, but the poison is quickly draining my strength. I manage to get to my knees before I slump back to the ground and start to lose conciousness.

Zack/Kellan Harnstein

Seeing the beast before me, I sense at once this is nothing natural. It is a perversion of magic made to look like parts of my goddess's creatures. I try to reach it with my mind, but am unsurprised when I am repelled. That only leaves my staff and my body to fight it with.

Then I see Juran fall, and feel the poison running through him. I run down to where he is, screaming for Arzat to do something. He is our mage, a necromancer come to that. If anyone can do anything, then he can.

Then I am by Juran's fallen form. I pick him up, slinging him over my shoulder as I turn and run. The creature stops for a moment as it sees me, but turns back to Ishkama, obviously hungry. What can I do? If I do not save Juran, he will die. If Arzat and the pussy can't do anything, then Andrea will die. I pray to the goddess that my girlfriend will be saved, barely even realizing that the Zack part of me has started to reestablish a control in response to the heightened tension.

I drop Juran under a tree and lay my hands on his wound, muttering the "Poison Draw" spell under my breath. At once I feel the sickness start to pass into me, sapping my strength as it punishes my body. Then I let it out, feeling the pain ebb away into the welcoming dirt below me. I don't have time to check on the rest of his wounds. I know now Juran is safe, and whether he can help or not, I need to work with the others to save Andrea.

I rack my brain for what will even hurt this thing while levitating up to the hayloft. Lets see, extremely high strength, made of animated blood enhanced by a demonic entity.... wataminute, made of blood!

The reaver is advancing on Ish when I make my attack. First I cast a spell to lower its natural resistance to magic. Swirls of color surround it, and then pinpricks of light shoot through it, causing it to turn to me, screaming in rage. That was the appetizer, now for the meal!
I extend my hand out to the beast, palm facing it, and begin chanting. Swirls of blue and white light grow in my palm, until with a final word a cone of blue and white mist shoots out of my hand and over the BloodReaver. It screams in rage, but is cut short as the Cone of Cold envelops it and freezes the creature solid.
"Ok Ish, its stopped."

Shane/Shikima

blinks watching one person go down and then the big bloodreaver gets turned to ice " ooo can we bust it incase it unfreezes before we leave? " hops up and down his tail slideing from his pants and swaying back and forth" did we get all the baddies? cuz i really wanna eat one " nodded and peeked out the barn door his eyes searching for more critters

John/Juran

Slowly I wake up. My blood doesn't feel like it is on fire any more, but my chest feels like I was kicked by a horse. I look down and see that the my armour has been split open by the Bloodreaver. That fact alone amazes me, considering my armour is magical. I look around for the others and moan loudly in pain as I try to stand up unsuccessfully.

Andrea/Ishkama

The Andrea part of me drops the sword, not wanting something potentially deadly in my hands. I run over to Zack putting my arms around him. I don't wrap them around his shoulders like I normally would, but around his waist.

"I was so scared!" Was all I could say to him. For I was scared. My body reacted as a fighter would, knowing that whatever was inside must die, but my heart knew of the dangers and was frightened that someone I cared about would die. MOre over Zack would die.
