After dropping of the girls Bill runs some errands before heading home . Remembering the text messages he looks to see
one from a friend at the vets reminding him of a meeting that night and one from Janet wondering if he would like to come by on Friday . Finding himself with nothing to do for the afternoon he began checking over the bike in the garage.

Helen appreciates that Mavis may have caused disruption to Bill's routines and wonders how the day is going for him. She texts

'Do hope your day is going well Bill. We certainly pleased Mavis and thanks for your discretion. Much appreciated. Do you have plans for this evening?'

Mavis having got Bill's detail from Helen texts Bill

'Great breakfast, great bike, looking forward to the thrill. Mavis xx'

Bill replied to both: Quite welcome , I guess I needed an excuse to get the bike out of the garage instead of just letting it
sit there. I do have a meeting early tonight but should be home by 8ish depending upon how long winded they are tonight.
I still have to get fresh fuel and check the tire pressure on the Bike . The good news is no rain in the forecast for a few days at least.

Mavis responds 'great to hear from you Bill. Pl. let me know when you are ready and I will make my way over. I am VERY excited xx'

Helen responds 'OK Bill I will stay on at college and maybe get on with some research in the library'

Bill arrived home a little after eight but saw no sign of Helen downstairs. He decided he could use a hot shower and some sleep . He replied to Janet with a maybe depending upon how he got along with the bike. then headed up to get in the shower. In the shower his thoughts drifted to Valerie. He realized he was missing her . Not just the sex but her company as well. He wondered if she might want to spend some extended time together and how to work that around her busy schedule. He thought of Claire and realized she had not been around for a bit. He must have been thinking for a bit because he was running out of hot water.

As she was sitting in the library Dave just came up and smiled and whispered in her ear 'hi'. They then proceeded to work and chat informally from time to time until Dave suggests that they had done enough and it was time for pizza. She feels relaxed in his company and his happy to accept. They order pizza and cokes and get talking about the weekend 'how about we take in a football game and then you can come back and meet my folks for food?'

'This is all rather sudden Dave' comments Helen.

'I am been trying to pluck up courage for a good while and all that's happened is that I have become more and more motivated to ask you out'

'Oh OK then we had better put a stop to that, so yes, I'd love to come' laughs Helen

Dave won't take no for an answer and walks Helen home, holding her hand at times, well most of the time. Helen sees Bill's car in the drive. Perhaps you'd like to come in for a moment and I will introduce you to Bill, the uncle that I live with.

Helen asks Dave to sit in the lounge and hears Bill in the shower. She walks upstairs and knocks. She explains to him 'I have a friend Dave downstairs. He walked me home and I thought it would be polite to invite him in to introduce him to you'

Bill answers Helen while drying off fro the shower. He has no desire to meet a boyfriend but does not let that into his voice as he replies. Okay ,be down in a bit. He dress's quickly a little annoyed he can't go to bed as he had planned and that she has brought a guy back to the house. Bill sucks in a deep breath and heads downstairs determined not to let it show on his face.

Dave holds out his hand to shake Bill's as he comes down the stairs.

'Hello Sir, I hope I am not disturbing you. I was just seeing Helen back to check that she got home safely. I am a colleague from her class at college although she has said she would come to football with me at the weekend and have a meal with my family'.

Dave looks towards Helen with a smile and can sense that there is a bit of tension in the air. He had thought that Bill might have liked to know who Helen was with at the weekend but takes a hint and makes for the door. Helen sees him there and he gives her a peck on the cheek. They wave each other 'bye'.

Once Dave has gone Helen explains to Bill. 'Yes he and I were working together in the library after class and he suggested a football game at the weekend which I feel was kind of him. There's nothing going on between us'

Helen did not feel that she should need to explain somebody seeing her home safely to her uncle or inviting him in when it was apparent that Bill was about. She was pleasant but after a few words she told Bill 'I'll be going to bed now, I'll see you in the morning.'

Bill watched as Helen turned to leave the room. He heard himself bark "stop". She turned around to look at him , her expression was frightened but defiant. He had trouble getting the words out. You are my niece,...and lover at times.
I tried to warn you about bringing men around ... but that's part of my own emotional mess left over from my marriage and the loss of your aunt. You are not my personal property....I want you to enjoy your time hear and at school without worrying about me. I honestly tried to look perfectly normal but from the reaction of your friend and yourself it did not work. Get some rest and we can talk about avoiding such things in the future. I will give it some more thought tonight.

'You are misunderstanding this Bill, I did not bring him around at all. He walked me home and I invited him in to introduce him to you. I get it now that you do not want to be introduced to my friends. That will be easy to achieve.'

After her outburst Helen continues up to her room and texts Dave and Mavis. Tired and full of emotion Helen thinks to herself.. 'lover at times he says, well if he ever touches me again I will scream.'

Helen knows now that deep down Bill has only been after her body and has no real interest in her wellbeing. How otherwise would he be like this about a friend who is only simply looking to ensure she is safe. He should be thanking the friend rather than chastising her, if he had any sense of decency.

Bill sits by himself in the kitchen feeling oddly sad and confused. He had not said a word to the young man.
He thought he had concealed any feelings he had for Helen by just smiling and keeping his mouth shut.
Taking a deep breath he pours himself a drink and heads for the living room. In his armchair alone in the dark
He tries to work things out.He had spent a lot of time just like this after Diane had passed. Now in the span of two months he had the feeling he was being divorced without being married. Her anger hinted she may have stronger feelings for him than he thought. He wondered if she understood he was trying to spare her the embarrassment of being involved with her own uncle. Or maybe it was just him that would be ashamed . So far only Claire knew about them or so he believed.
How had he let this happen. He never dreamed Diane's closet could be a Pandora's box . He would have to wait it out.
If he offered to get her an apartment to save her the financial stress of finishing she might think he was trying to get rid of her. If he didn't he might wake up to find her gone anyway. In the morning he would finish the the bike and run it through some trials. He doubted any one would go go riding now. he fell to sleep in the chair.

Mavis receives a text from Helen and smiles. She considers 'so Helen is going out with Dave, no sorry going to a game with a friend! About time she tried to work at a serious friendship rather than somewhat throw herself into the club scene, that is not her style really'. Mavis texts back 'pleased for you, remind Bill about the bike will you, can't wait for day?' Helen responds 'thanks, course, nite' and puts her phone down and drifts off to sleep.

Helen wakes quite early the following morning looking forward to the day but then remembering how the previous evening had passed. Then an idea dawns on her. Of course, Bill is looking to make things uncomfortable by encouraging me to move out, do that myself so that he can move one of his lady friends in. She resolves 'well I'm not going to budge, I am not going to take the bait and make things easy for him. I am going to carry on as normal and frustrate him as if nothing has happened'

Helen then remembers Mavis and how accommodating Bill was with her when he could have raised the roof, surely this meant that Bill wasn't trying to move her out. It did just not make sense. Ah but of course Mavis was female, a big difference to Bill, she works out.

As she could not go back to sleep Helen moves downstairs to the kitchen and is surprised to see Bill asleep snoring in his chair, looking all of his age. This reminds her that perhaps things have become more challenging with his advancing years. He has no partner or really close friend, who does he go to for advice?

This leaves Helen feeling rather sad and she makes coffee, pouring a cup for Bill, knowing that it is usual for him to wake early and takes it into the living room for him, biting her lip a little. Perhaps she needs to be the adult in the room. Maybe the company of Dave overwhelmed her clear thinking here.

......................

Bill's eye's blinked open to find Helen looking at him and a fresh cup of coffee on the table next to him. She did not seem angry and her expression was blank. He sipped his coffee and cleared the morning fog from his brain. Last nights discussion and all his thoughts came rushing back in." I know we have hit a bump in the road and I want to clear things up if I can. First and foremost I want you to understand I care for you a great deal. My feelings for you are ....well complicated to say the least. Our situation is and odd one and quite frankly has caught me off guard. I am not at all sure how you see things or how you feel. I don't want you to feel pressured by me or our financial arrangements. If you want your own place I will pay for it as well as school until you get your feet under you and can do what you like. Helen it's important you understand this is not because i want you to leave. I don't ...not at all.

Helen listens to Bill's words intently and is rather shocked and overwhelmed at his offer and generosity.

'No Bill I don't want to leave here. Of course I would like my place at some time but not now in these circumstances. I had been working late and was tired last night. I feel that perhaps you were tired too. I know that we may need to rebuild our relationship a little bit but I am prepared to do that and I do appreciate that the house is off limits for any of my male friends without invitation. I do accept that is a reasonable wish of yours, particularly as we have been an intimate couple ourselves and have sexual feelings for each other.'

'I do like Dave, the guy you were introduced to yesterday. It is only though the start of friendship and I mean we have never kissed, he has never touched me. I may find myself in a group of his family or friends at the football on Saturday'

Helen now reaches for a tissue as she is becoming rather upset and indeed embarrassed at what her invitation to Dave to meet Bill has caused. The tears begin to flow as Helen's shoulders slump a little and she asks

'are we going to be ok now uncle?' and with a little laugh she follows up with the comment ' Mavis mentions her desires.. you know. the bike !!!'

Bill stands and pulls Helen into a hug and holds on. Yes...yes my little bookworm i think we will be fine. kissing her on top of the head he says" tell your friend with the bee in her bonnet I will have the bike done in about two hours. If she sends me an address and a time i can pick her up. After giving Helen a kiss on the cheek and heads for the garage. with the bike cleaned up he takes out the spare helmet and rides of to get gas and run the bike through it's paces.

Mavis receives the text from Helen and comes over full of excitement. She thanks her lucky stars that she has nothing on in the next two hours, not that it would matter, the bike would come first. She appreciates that Bill will be very professional and safety conscious so settles down and dresses appropriately making sure that she has money on her and her phone. She decides to go bra less as something of a gesture. It will increase the thrill. She texts Helen her thanks and informs her that all will be fine. She likes Bill, but appreciates she is not likely his type. She is only riding for fun and if anything were to happen it would need to be at Bill's instigation. She is not going to embarrass herself.

Helen says bye to Bill with some relief. She has a demanding day at college and she needs to be able to concentrate.

Bill arrives home to find Mavis already there bouncing up down on the balls of her feet thankful she can't see his eye's behind his sunglasses marveling at her bra less bosom. He tells her if she feels like anything is wrong to wack him on his right shoulder. If she needs a ladies room two taps. They should be back in an hour and a half. With a wave to Helen they leave and go around the school and the lake before getting on the highway .A little while later Bill takes the exit for the state park. This is a two lane road that winds it's way through the park with great views of the river and mountains. on the other side it goes through farmlands ,hills and small towns before coming out further up the highway for the trip back.

Mavis loves the feel of the bike, its acceleration and the way it transports them both through the air. Once she becomes accustomed to Bill's riding style she feels safe on the back, banking nicely on the curves as he lets out the throttle and puts the bike through its paces. She takes it as a compliment that he is riding the bike without obvious reserve and treating her as the experienced pillion that she is. She begins to enjoy the views and wishes that he might stop at some point. This seems to be going all too quickly and before she knows it she will be back home, the treat over.

Once they are through the mountains and hit the towns she summons up a bit of courage and taps him twice on the shoulder. He is stopped at a small junction so there is no danger and he pulls off the road. Once Mavis has removed her helmet Bills sees a face with a big beaming smile. Mavis rests her arm around Bill's shoulder. Their bodies have been close up all the trip and she feels that they are achieving something together, that they are now partners in something. She keeps her body close to his, it seems natural.

Mavis asks 'I'm getting the drinks, tea or coffee Bill?'

Bill smiles back at her happy she is enjoying the ride. " a small black coffee would be great thank you " he removes the helmet and jacket and sits on the low wall in the parking lot to wait. Two you guys emerge from the store making cat calls and whistling at Mavis over their shoulder as they walk to their car. Bill slides his sunglasses down his nose to glare at them and let them know he does not think well of their act. One of them takes this as a challenge and marches straight for Bill with his friend just a step behind. As they get close the friend spots the tattoo on Bill's forearm showing the master at arms insignia and the name of the destroyer he had served on. he reached out to grab his friends arm and they skidded to a halt in front of Bill. The young man stood ramrod straight and snapped of a salute while his buddy looked looked on in confusion. "wonderful day to be out for a ride with your lady sir...Hope the the weather holds and you both have a great time. " Bill just nodded and pushed his glasses back up while the guy pushed his pal back towards the car on the other side of the lot. He turned from watching them leave just in time to see Mavis hand him his coffee with a puzzled expression.

Mavis feels a glow in her body as she hears the words 'your lady sir'. Perhaps the body language from the two of them means something. Her experience soon tells her to lighten up and enjoy.

'Well that was something of a surprise Bill, what brought all that on and why did the guy get all official and walk off?'

'You are a very interesting man Bill, you really are'

Mavis then acting naturally and without any forethought runs her hand across Bill's chest as a gesture of affection. She leaves it around his breast area and gives a little squeeze.

She is thoughtful, she looks at Bill and smiles wondering, should she give him a little lip kiss, would he appreciate one, here in public?

Bill smiles at her. Seems they were quiet enamored of you. One of them must have served for a bit. When he spotted the tattoo decided to get respectful and move on. He sipped his coffee enjoying her gentle touch.
It's been awhile since I been up this way. Do you like it?

Mavis thinks better of it and continues the conversation, the moment having passed. She responds 'the scenery has been magnificent Bill and being out here with a man is rather the icing on the cake. Thanks for bringing me'. Mavis does now give Bill a quick kiss on the cheek.

'There we are now, I've done it' she says as she gently pushes him on the shoulder in horseplay.

Bill laughs and almost spills his coffee.Teasing back " out here with a man? What would your girlfriend think?. Then he asks when do you need to be back?
It's a little over thirty minutes from here . Or would you like to keep going north

Mavis speaks rather sadly when she says 'I'm a girl that likes cock Bill. I live on my own though and I get lonely. You may well know that sort of feeling'. She continues 'yes I am a bit bi, it helps but it is men for me. Do you know of any?'

'You are giving me a great time Bill and I am in no rush to get back. North it is if you are happy'

Bill is still a little shocked by her bold language but he likes her just the same. The invitation is obvious enough but he keeps his mouth shut and let's it pass. He's already had enough trouble with Helen as of late, what would happen if he got tangled up with this one. " North it is my lady" They wind their way passing through some more small towns and cross over and old covered bridge before heading south again. As they come back past the school he see's the same car with Shannon and Terri in it going in the opposite direction. It seems to him they don't recognize him on the bike and he thinks that's for the best anyway. A minute later he stop's to ask Mavis. Would you like me to drop you home or would you rather wait for Helen at the house. I have to go out for a bit to the club and won't be back for a while.
