My mom has a very short attention span and terrible short term memory. She'll make a stew and end up putting spices in it several times. Ending up with inedible gloop at the end. I learnt to cook young, it was that or starve

I can bake, but its not a very macho thing to do really. besides, there's something restrictive about having to use a recipe that annoys me on a deep level

who says you have to use a recipe? Just throw in little of this and some of that, most things have the basic recipe, just play with it and see what yummy things you can come up with

Many do end up taking a nap after a holiday feast

But I always like to get up and work off all that yummy food....
