The Isolated Blurt BDSM Thread

I'm on metformin, although for me it's for the diabetes. It's okay. It helps keep my blood sugar levels even and that helps me not crave sugar - because my blood sugar levels don't drop down as low. On the other hand my god-daughter was on it (she's pre-diabetic) and it made her really sick. She was throwing up and had headaches and the like. She's the only person I know who had that reaction, although it's common enough I was warned it might happen. My mom's on it and so is Lady Agie (mwisdom's girlfriend) and it works for all of us.

On the other hand, keep track of if you've taken it. Once I wasn't sure if I had so I took another and turns out I had because it gave me SUCH a migraine.

Thanks for the info ladies. :)

I swear to god, moderating Lit is like dealing with a bunch of fucking children sometimes. Aren't we all supposed to be 18 to post on here?

After my most recent jaunt - 8 flights in 12 days - I feel like someone should do a PSA for folks who've never flown before.

For air travel newbs out there, a few tips!

1. Wear comfortable shoes that you can slip on and off. Comfortable because you sometimes have to walk long distances and stand in line ups (forever), slip on's because you will have to remove them before you pass through security and there will be a whole bunch of people behind you waiting (not patiently) for you to get your shoes back on when you're done.

2. Get to the airport a minimum of 2 hours before your flight. 3 hours is better.

3. If you're going to a big airport, go online before you leave and print out a map. Check your ticket, find out which gate you'll be flying out of. Don't wait until you're in the middle of a hectic airport, lost and panicked.

4. When going through security, you will have to strip down to pants, top and socks. The more crap you pile onto your body, the longer it will take you to strip down and re-dress after.

5. If you are VERY nervous about the flight, go see your doctor before you leave and ask him for a "chill pill". Don't wait until you are locked in the plane, freaking out at every bit of (normal) turbulence.

6. Know which items you want out of your carry on bag long before you place it in the overhead bin. The middle of loading is not the time to go digging for your novel.

7. Chewing gum on take off and landing can help equalize the pressure in your ears. Bring the gum from home - most airports don't sell gum.

.

Wish I had found a better map of the one I stopped through in London. I did pull it up before I left, and knew it was huge, but still ended up sobbing on the phone because the sign above my head said my gate was still a 20 minute walk ahead (after an hour in check points and walking this far) and I only had 20 minutes till my flight was due.

Who stole my sex drive?

Hey! I just found it! Thanks!!

You can have mine. I'm not using it.

BA-ha-ha-ha! Good one, wenchie!

"Ummm, I asked my Mom...and, um...she said to get off the computer..."
(Sympathies, Etoile.)

Where's the 'Like' button, please?

My blurt...oh, crap on a cracker, you kids have me laughling so hard, I forgot...
(can't be all that bad, then, eh?)

Christ on a crutch. You make an innocent comment about liking CBT, and you get fucking "What would you do to me and my nuts?" PMs left and right. I suddenly remember why I don't post about sex and play anymore. Fucking creepers.

See, that never happens to me for some reason, and I do have a mean sadistic streak, CBT being one of my favorite outlets for it. (something about busting the balls of those who piss me off is very satisfying. In fact, it's the reason I got into it in the first place![Lord do I miss that toy])

And if you are travelling internationally, please check your passport is going to be valid before you even book your tickets.

Holly shit was that a heavy handed bar tender. I had 2 Maker's and coke and I feel like I had 5 or 6!

Gonna try to find my bed with out falling!

CBT: cognitive behavioural therapy. I'm doing an online (computer-based training) course on it at the moment.

That, too. When I was getting my psych degree, I always snickered when we talked about CBT, the therapy, because I couldn't help but think of CBT, the kinky play.

Aaaaannd now the two are inextricably linked together in my mind, forever. Thanks, Bunny, my psych classes just got infinitely more interesting :D

Yes, but the question is: can you use CBT as a CBT tool? :D

My mind pings around all over the place when I hear "CBT". There are three widely-recognised meanings for CBT, and I have personal experience of them all -

cock and ball torture

cognitive behavioural therapy

compulsory basic training (required by UK law to be done and certified before you ride a motorbike as a learner)

Word! In fact, any countries want your passport to be valid for at least six months after your entry date. Check carefully!
