That's ridiculous... Wow. At least here, 3 cop cars screeched onto the sidewalk a few seconds after the fight broke out (patrolers cruise the streets pretty heavily Thurs-Fri-Sat because of all the fights) and got out of their cars and started wacking their batons around.

There is a club my friends and I have stopped going to because people keep getting STABBED there. Hell, someone very nearly died earlier this year in the club I work at because someone used a broken Heineken bottle to slash the guy's neck open during a fight. At least we all got to go home while the police and detective examined the place. I had to make a statement to a lawyer and all kinds of BS.

Despite being in Hawaii, Honolulu is pretty shitty if you ask me. Seems to get more dangerous every year.

Tonight I saw the gnarliest street brawl I've ever seen.

It involved about a dozen guys, who seemed to be beating on only a couple people. Somehow a girl got mixed up in it and her face was hella bloody. She was freaking out to the cops afterwards, she didn't even know any of the guys yet she got caught up in the mini-mob and punched in the face.

They all ran down the street until catching up with each other (or whatever) and then it just EXPLODED into action. I almost got caught up in that shit... If a couple of my good guy friends hadn't been walking down the street, one of them grabbed me up over his shoulder and carried me up some steps, I might have been that girl with the bloody face.

WTF is my corner of the city coming to.

Rapes on my campus after dark, break-ins to my so-called "secured" apartment building, and fights/rapes almost every night on the street I work on. What, am I not allowed to feel safe ANYWHERE?!

Nothing actually. A lot of teenagers are great. But with the guys they have more adrenaline at that age, they have less control, and they still think they're going to live forever. The combination can be explosive. And quite often those boys are good kids, they just need to grow up some.

Also, where theirs teenagers there will be some girl who's still rather naive trusting, and hangs out at the campus after dark. If I was a rapist, that's where I'd look for a victim. When I was 17 I had to take some classes at the college so I could graduate. Ditto, sort of. I don't have any classes after dark for that very reason. I tend to look like a kid, but why bother trouble? My TKD instructor says I'm fast enough to dodge bullets, but I'd REALLY rather not test that theory. That's why I run with a buddy most days, and when I don't have someone to run with, I vary my route and stick to lighted areas.

In the condo complex I used to live in some jackass tried to rape a woman in our laundry room. She was a LAPD officer coming home from work and was in her street clothes.
