There's a whole section for single serving cheesecakes.

Funny story from ummm... holy crap almost 20 years ago...

My best friend in high school was a guy about a year older than me, and I was way too broke to get him a graduation present, so I offered to make him dinner. 9 layer lazagna, italian salad, homemade bread, and cheesecake. (I kinda liked him, even though he was an idiot. ) Anyway... so I'm prepping everything for dinner, and get down to the cheesecake. My parents didn't have a Kitchenaid, so I had to use the blender to cream everything together. No biggie! I dump the cream cheese, ricotta, eggs, lemon zest, yadayadayada into the blender, scraping things down with a wooden spoon, and the phone rings - dinner guest of honor calling to see if I was slaving away at his meal. So we chat for about 5 minutes (during which time I get totally distracted), I hang up the phone, and push the button on the blender.

Did I mention the wooded spoon was still IN the blender, and the lid wasn't on?

The blender screams like it's posessed, the spoon goes skyrocketing straight up to the ceiling, hits at an odd angle, and bounces back and forth between several cabinets on the way back to earth. I squeak out something unintelligible, and duck - convinced I just blew up the kitchen.

The cheesecake came out fine, the kitchen took forever to clean, and it made for interesting dinner conversation...

Oh, God, Cutie. That sounds just like something I'd do. Ask me about the scrambled eggs in the German Chocolate Cake icing I made that one time. Oops.

Guess I'm doing the cooking, huh?

I normally cook and bake quite well, thank you very much. It was just a brain fart.

Just because I'm not usually domestic AT ALL doesn't mean I can't cook. A fat girl's gotta eat, you know.

How come you always tell me you're going out to eat instead of you're cooking?

Because I'm lazy! Also a "fat girl" prerequisite. ;)

Gracie, what is pred-induced diabetes? I am on much smaller amounts than you but it may be long-term. I do not want diabetes! Like Netzach, I am surprised that they are giving you pred for the ears...but I looked it up on Google and apparently it is not uncommon! I am surprised that the doses are so high though.

Many years ago before my chronic urticaria was under control, I started a countdown sequence of pred same as you - 60, 50, 40, etc. Below 20mg it was like I wasn't taking it at all. Now I find that 5mg is enough to control my CU pretty well, though the doc I saw last week still isn't real thrilled with the idea of me being on pred long-term. He wants me to do a countdown 4-3-2-1mg over the span of two months, and if the CU comes back he says we'll try cyclosporine for 6-12 months. God I love autoimmune bullshit and being sick IT'S SO MUCH FUN! (not...)

BTW, Netz and gracie, have you noticed that pred makes your pee smell funny? I started taking 5mg/day on my own and my pee smelled funny. I suspected the pred, so I stopped for a few days and the smell went away. I went back on, and the smell was back. I forgot to ask the doc about this, what's your experiences say?

Ok, prednisone induced diabetes is very rare. Frankly you have to be SO borderline diabetic that's it's not a matter of if you'll become diabetic, but when. Frankly, I'm the only person I've ever met who has it. Also - 5 mgs of prednisone won't screw with my diabetes, I have to be over 30 mgs.

I've found that prednisone makes my pee smell funny and my cum taste bad. K won't go down on me while I'm on prednisone. I've also learned that drinking lots of water makes this a bit better. I've never done low doses of prednisone long term - I don't know what it'll do.

So... before I left the DR, J requested that I put together a 3 ring binder of 100 menues (half for 2; half for 4+), and a second binder of recipes, so that we can sit down once a week and he can decide how often he wants to dine at home/what we'll have. (The man obviously paid attention when I explained to him that I'm really anal about my kitchen and my cooking. :D )

I'm such the geek; I love doing stuff like this. I'm being so very me - the menus are broken down by number, with a corresponding number attached to the start of the recipe page; every menu is formatted the same (beverage, main course, bread, salad/veggies, dessert - if possible) with the recipes arranged in the same manner; the tail end of the recipe section for each menu has a shopping list broken down by pantry, produce, meat and dairy.

I've started with the menus for two (because cooking for two is a much bigger pain in the rear than cooking for 4-6+), and I found the coolest freaking cookbook on the PLANET at the library: Small Batch Baking - 90% of the recipes make only 1-2 servings.

You can't cut down recipes for baking like you can for a main course or side dish - baking is an art as much as it is a science, so if you just half or quarter something, odds are you'll flub it up (I love love love to bake); I was prepared to only add dessert to the larger menu list and mostly do a weekly batch of cookies (the poor man had *never* had a cookie fresh from the oven before he met me), but now I don't have to limit myself to that! :D

It's so freaking cute! Pineapple upside down cakes baked in jumbo muffin tins, and mini bunt cakes, and indvidual cherry crostatas, and chocolate zucchini breads, and tortes, and flans, and olive breads...squeeeeeeeee!!!!!! :D :D :D

Wow... just WOW!

Seriously CM... do you have a clone??? ;)

Grace try taking cinnamon tablets. I take 500 mgs in the morning and again at night. It hasn't been scientifically proven but it widely accepted by dietians that it will help lower your blood sugar. I personally had very good results with it.

You can find cinnamon pills/tablets at Wally World, Sam's Club and most health food outlets.

Blurt/RANT

THAT IS IT. FROM NOW ON NO ONE GETS A RIDE EXCEPT MON, WED, AND FRIDAY BETWEEN 8 AM AND 1PM. IF YOU'RE RUNNING LATE THAT'S YOUR FREAKEN PROBLEM!

This excludes work, dr's appointment, and anything court mandated.

I think K might have a problem with that.
