Pete, Gabe, Alfred, and Raya.
Jamie moved in to speak to Wraith, and Pete and Gabe stood there for a moment, gawping at Wraith's tale of terrible woe.
But then there were newcomers and, touching Pete on the shoulder, Gabe suggested that they go introduce themselves.
"Mean Joe Greene," Pete nodded to J'onn. "'Fred. How're they swingin'?"
Alfred, recovering from Damian's unexpected departure and Constantine's alike, blinked at Pete. "Side to side, rather like usual. Though I'm unsure this is the time or place to discuss that, if such a time or place even exists..."
Gabe smiled tightly at Var-Sen, and at Var-Sen's pretty blond bride-to-be, and had no idea who they were. "So, um. Seems like I'm not the only newcomer at the party anymore, and I have to say, I'm a little relieved. I'm glad to have someone else who's as clueless about all of this as I am."
He held out his hand to Raya, the ol' Heartland Handshake. "I'm Gabriel Sullivan. And you are?"
Raya arched a cornsilk eyebrow, and smiled a soft little smile. "I am Raya Ro-Zan of The House of Zan, ere long, Rao willing, to be wed into The House of Sen. And this is Var-Sen, my Yellow Sun so often dressed in black. We serve the destiny of Krypton's Last Daughter."
Gabriel paused. "...oh."
And suddenly felt very much alone.
But suddenly, Pete was there, taking Raya's hand and shaking it emphatically, his eyes dancing with a sort of flirtatious glee. "Let me be the first, Missus Sen, to personally welcome you to Earth. Me and The Prof are old buddies, me and Spock danced with some uglies down in Honduras, and I would be honoured to show you the sights."
Raya grinned a beaming grin. "I must say," she nodded enthusiastically, "Var-Sen promised me that his friends of Earth were quite marvellous, and you do not disappoint. For a planet of a mere Level 1.5 stage of development, your sense of humour is surprisingly well-developed."
Pete's eye twitched. "Sense'a humour. Riiiiight."
And grinning, Gabriel Sullivan no longer felt entirely alone. "If you think that's funny, you should read his newspaper articles."
"Screw you, Chloe's Dad," Pete shook his head. But he was laughing.
