The Last Daughter of Krypton OOC

Here's a funny thing.

Obviously "Doctor Who" as a franchise exists in "LDoK" continuity.

But I think maybe Jamie is mysteriously unaware of it. And maybe Rose is, too. She knows who Tom Baker is from other stuff...

I think this might be a perception filter thing, programmed into the process that integrated Jamie into the timeline. His mind just sort of... glances off of it each time it comes up, a moment of disorientation? Like when he saw Damian's Boom Tube disguised as a Police Box, he had a little episode.

(Something tells me that Ceri knows more about this than what she's saying, but she might not learn that until later. Much, much later.)

Amen, this might be the debut of something we discussed ages ago...

Why thank you :D
I thought I should throw some good ole silver age in there.
The classics never go out of style.

Did you read the JLA two-parter that updated Starro and put him into modern continuity? It guest-starred Daniel from "Sandman" and features two of the greatest exchanges in modern comic-dom. (I'ma hafta paraphrase, but you'll get the gist.)

Zauriel: "I have heard of you, but word has it in The Silver City that Morpheus, Dream of The Endless, is dead."

Daniel, smirking: "Dream cannot die, nor am I Morpheus."

And, later...

Daniel: "Why is your every thought haunted by him? You will surpass him."

Kyle Rayner, talking about Hal: "Every time I hear about this guy, someone's telling me he's this rock star space cop, the best of the best. What do I know that this guy didn't?"

Daniel: "Fear. You will surpass him."

...so cool.

though to me it poses a question if kyle had conquered his fear how in the nine hells did he end up as parallax at least in sinestro war. I thought that because he had conquered he would be immune to parallax's influence

I don't think Daniel was referring to Parallax but to Ion.

When Kyle received omnipotence, burning with all the energies of The Central Battery, he didn't attempt to remake the world as he saw fit. He gave himself an interesting haircut, he policed The Universe, and when the time came, he willingly gave up his energies to rebuild The Corps from the dirt up.

Kyle carried the legacy of The Corps when no-one else could.

No matter how far Hal has risen in redeeming himself, which he has, Kyle will never have fallen as far as Hal has had to rise.

Kyle has surpassed him.

Some might argue that in order to know true hights that fall for Hal had to take place. And that now he might go even higher then ever before.

An excellent point.

There's nothing written that says that Hal won't again surpass Kyle.

(And you realise I'm kind of in love with Kyle, so admitting that, please respect that I said so.)

While Hal was gone Kyle was better than Hal ever had been before.

He has surpassed Hal.

But Hal Jordan has never been daunted by heights. So he may, in turn, surpass the greater example that Kyle has set.

I love them both.

Just different GLs for different eras.

But I think tha they are defiantely hinting at Hal taking back his place as the greatest GL with all this stuff going on in Blackest Night. I swear this is what Final Crisis should have been.

Agreed.

I love me some epic-weird Morrison, but Final Crisis was bizarre as crap. The best parts were the tie-ins by Johns, including "L3W." And now Johns is taking ancient Alan Moore and running with it and it's fan-fucking-tastic.

(I love Hal, don't get me wrong.

I'm in love with Kyle.

:: grins sheepishly :: There's the difference.)

Meh, keep yer human Lanterns. Sodam Yat and Tomar Re.

Re was cute, but I liked Tu's demeanour.

(And I thought Sodam was cuter before the mohawk, just IMHO.)

As for human Lanterns, I challenge you to find cuter than Jenny-Lynn Hayden. My God that woman was a delight for these four eyes...

Something befitting you, then.

You're welcome.

It's lovely. The whole idea of J'onn quietly maintaining vigil over Jamie's "secret identity," even from Jamie himself. I knew you'd nail it, but you nailed it.

Did you come up with that Martian phrasing yourself, or is that from existing text?

(Very Marc Okrand. I approve!)

Agreed on the mohawk.

Cary Wren? Donna Parker?:)

She's actually done a bunch of 'em, you should check her album out, "Tanydwr" on Photobucket.

My favourite is this, especially since "LDoK" apparently has Buffyverse things happening in it, now.
