No, no! Get back up on your soapbox please!
Tell me about some of the "bad" stereotypes. Like what exactly?
Just things like being passionate, feisty, having a high libido, that sort of thing. Feisty is healthy at times, it helps make things interesting. Passion is also healthy, a positive thing when balanced with the logical side that's no less resident with Latinas than with the rest of humanity, whatever the hype might be. Jealousy? We all get jealous, don't we? We just face it and don't let it run our lives.
Having a high libido, if true, is a good thing, I would think, and despite the belief of some to the contrary, it doesn't make one automatically promiscuous. I think that some insecure men who weren't used to their Latina girlfriends or wives and worried that they couldn't keep up (not without exercise or better physical fitness or something) hyped things a bit. It becomes a stupid urban legend or meme or trope or whatever. Insecure idiots with fragile egos! By the way, being ethically polyamorous, I'm certainly not worried about either of us getting strange if we please. I would simply insist on the same rights as her, but without having any illusions, knowing that she'll almost certainly attract more lovers than me. That's just a statistical reality. It's not a race or rivalry or competition, just consenting adults sharing each other freely and not chaining each other down. That's how I see it.
As much as I tease playfully about the fertility side of things, I actually find it very attractive myself when I see a Latina with a strong desire to reproduce, but again, this is hyped up and blown out of proportion, mostly by nativists with their stupid racist fears of there not being an Anglo majority eventually. Fuck 'em. Doesn't bother me. Not having any racial majority of any kind would be a good thing for this country. A little less arrogance from us Anglos would be a nice change. And I think that a Latina with a baby bump is actually very sexy myself, very sensual.
Just my take. So, yes, as I said, I admit to some fetishizing of Latinas, but the difference is that I mean it playfully, with a great deal of admiration for and appreciation of them. I'm only human, but I try to turn any subconscious racism upside down, confront it, and work on appreciating people as individuals, not collectives. Besides, in my view, race is a myth. The only true race is humanity. On this planet at least (unless you believe that Ancient Aliens guy).
I hope that this helps and is taken in the spirit given, of friendly, appreciative, respectful, and yet playful goodwill.
