As an authoritarian, Trump wants to control the news flow. He wants to disbar judges who rule against him. I suspect he would like to promote violence against his enemies, as long as he can maintain plausible deniability.

He will succeed or fail depending on whether or not his policies improve the standard of living of the lower and lower middle class whites who make up most of his constituency.
