The "Let's All Nag Angeline to Finish NaNoWriNo" Thread

Drum Roll......

50,066

I'd like to thank the Academy, and all the poets who supported me in this insane effort. (And I'm only on Chapter 9 with around 11 chapters to go. But I'll get there! But not in ten days...maybe sometime in December. We shall see.)

:rose::kiss::rose:

:nana: Way to go S!

Congratulations on your completion. I stumbled on this thread and just read it, in it's entirety. Very interesting.
I'd love to read the finished draft or proof.

I hope you're writing, too. You know. :rose:

been doin some, yes, and it feels very good - rambly stuff - snowfall seems to somehow get the boys down in the cellar off their butts... but 50k within one month? No way this year.

Knock it out of the park, girl.

It's not erotica, just sayin althought it isn't exactly sexless either. :D

If I put in up somewhere and anyone is interested, I'll send em the link. But I have to finish the draft first and clean out the messy stuff some. There's serious overuse of adverbs, I've noticed. Now y'all know how I got to 50k!

This thread needs re-naming - The Agony and The Ecstacy - well done S.

Thank you my dear PoeTess. The amazing part is that the agony and ecstacy are simultaneous. My god it is like childbirth! lol

I'm going to try to keep writing about 2k a day though I am taking off a few days at Thanksgiving! I'd love to have a finished draft by the first of the year. We shall see.

You just keep a ramblin!

That's perfect. I've about had my fill of erotica (Did I actually say that?).
I've started a couple of short stories of my own, but I've had no instruction in it.
The process that you go through is what I need to learn. References in here to books, writers guides and such are gold.

My sincerest congratulations, m'dear. An excellent achievement. Overachieved, in fact, as I might have expected from you.

Now (*clears throat*), I'll just point out that you are on perfect pace for a 75,000 word draft by November 30. Assuming you make Mr. ee cook on turkeyday.

Your ownself said that 50K wasn't enough for the story. Just remindinging. :) <-- Sunny smilie says "Hi!" and then "Get back to work!" smilingly.

I've written a ton of poetry but maybe nine or ten short stories ever. I have never attempted to write a novel before this. Not *ahem* unless one counts the Beatles and Star Trek parody type things i wrote with friends when I was around 13.

The best advice I can give anyone is just write every day. And Stephen King's On Writing is as good a guide as any on what to do--and a lot more readable than most. I love Strunk and White, too, but Stephen gives a lot of good advice. And a few things I'm not sure I agree with but that's what practice is for: to find out how you do and don't agree.

And don't criticize or censor yourself. Don't listen to anyone (including yourself) who says you can't or you're not good enough. Just write. One can always go back and change stuff.

eyez always cooks the turkey. No that's not a metaphor. The man loves poultry. I won't embarrass him by telling anyone how many midnights I've discovered him standing in front of the fridge with a piece of turkey or chicken in hand. Not me!

I am however cooking everything else, which isn't a lot but it's a good day's work. And I might want to watch A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving or something. And I really owe my mommy a letter. I'm just under 52k now, so mebbe.

Would you be insulted if I called you Jiminy Cricket? :)

Not if you let me sing like this, especially if you credit me with the trumpet break.

Love the song and the movie. Who doesn't?

I'm at 53,580 and still racing along with the outline. I got some news yesterday that my mom is ill. I think the current crisis is resolving but I may have to travel back to Jersey if she gets worse again. Not a happy situation, but not totally unexpected either. Obviously that is throwing me off a lot, but I'm trying to keep writing because sitting around worrying isn't good for anything. But I'm still committed to finishing the draft. 75k by the end of the month is possible but maybe not probable. We'll see.

Just keep singing. :rose:

RAP STYLE:

GO ANG, Go ANG!

You got me stiff as like a donkey
got me needin' more fuckin' coffee
You got me on girl
get me off girl
got me go
don't say no.
Don't say no.

I rise, to your occasion
make it worth it, don't deny it
I got you on me, turn you on me
don't say no, you gotta go

(Well okay, it's dumb and needs to be finished but ... lol GO ANG, GO ANG, GO!

:D SING like a bird, Tzara, sing. 'Swoon'
Um, well, the video was of a cartoon cricket and the voice was Louis Armstrong, neither of which would ever be mistaken for a bird. Or me.

I probably sound more like David Thomas of Pere Ubu on Auto-Tune, scary as that sounds.

keep going, angiebaby - never mind the numbers, it's all about the story now

Okie dokie! I'm currently at 56,208. Been slowish the last two days, but there has been a lot going on with my mom who is doing better for now. However, beginning on the 25th, I can upload my document and get my count verified, at which point I get certified (I'm already certifable lol) and receive my "winner's goodies." Yay t shirt!

I'm currently #2 (please, no jibes!) in my region. I was #1 but some biotch with 67k came in and knocked me off the mountaintop! (<----not really)

glad to hear you mom's doing better, dear. it's hard when our loved ones are suffering.

verifiable? you? well that's just dandy - we're all nutjobs here

*bites lip so as not to go down the no2 joke line* :D
and anyway, they've probably written a thousand more words of shit that'll need editing out when they've done... *winks*

Pere Ubu? Now there's a band I haven't come across since Uni. Wow. You know I saw them live? Actually met the fuckers, too (yes, they were rude idiot fuckers - lol). Funny.

PS. they were never as rude as Massive Attack.

(Yes, I know I still have around 60k to finish the draft. But today I get to eat turkey and celebrate!)
