The Lit front page, a request

Someone reported me for spamming the forum!

You know who you are. ;)

Same thing for me except MS IE 5.50

Hi Harold! :)

For those that haven't heard this before - when I'm ready to retire, I'm considering turning all Lit tech duties over to Weird Harold.

Someday this may all be yours!

:)

Was that a big crack rock you were smoking today, Manu? ;) You should turn the techie stuff over to... hrmm... the WhitePower troll. That way he can't spam the board anymore.

And to answer your earlier question, I had it set to Largest by accident, sorry. My husband screws with the IE settings when I'm not around, the blind-arsed git. It went back to normal once I checked my font size back. Now I feel super-intelligent.

And, btw, Manu- tyvm for all you and Laurel do. I think the Lit staff knows this already, but you are dearly beloved but us smutmongers.

Reply button?

I don't think this relates to the front page, but I seem to have lost the reply button at the end of each thread.

It is there and I have just used it, but it doesn't show on screen.

Og

Edited for PS. I use vbulletin default 3 style. The reply button appears if I change to imagize liquid.

Keep up the good work

Hi,

Nice to be able to do something in return for all your efforts, although not much.

All looks in order with my IE 6.0, have tried it with “ignore colours specified in web pages” on and off. I always find the white background hard on the eyes when reading and set mine to a sort of buttermilk colour.

The comment earlier about the position of the bottom add still applies, it is offset to the right.

Keep up the good work

I'm on Opera 9.01 and the front page looks as un-inviting as always. ;)

(Seriously, a little color won't kill ya. And why are the actual main links into the site two screens down and tiny? it's as if you don't WANT peoplr to find the stories.)

I am unfortunately using a 6 year old Imac, OS 9.0.3. If I use the Netscape Communicator (4.7?) I can not access the new site page. If I switch to Internet Explorer 4.5 I don't seem to have any problems accessing the site, although the page layout is totally different than it had been. Time for a new machine.

Firefox 1.5.0.6

No problems, same as always.

Thanks for the info on looking at it with an older machine. What happens when you visit the page with Netscape 4.7? It should still show the page no matter what browser you are using, even though it might not be as pretty with really old browsers. Is it not coming up at all for some reason? :)

For those of you seeing fonts way too big or way too small on the front page for the last few days, please have another look. We've made some changes to the way font sizes are calculated. I hope it resolves the huge and tiny font issues. Please let me know. Thanks! :)

Reverted to vbulletin just now.

Reply button is visible.

It looks fine now.

You need more color.

All looks fine to me too, though the Zuma ad is off to the right slightly.

Thanks for all you for us! :)

Sorry to bother everyone! :)

I was wondering if some of you could spare a few moments to take a quick look at the front page of the site and let me know what you see:

http://www.literotica.com/

We are testing out some new code for the page and I want to make sure that it's not causing anyone any problems.

If you do see anything strange, please let me know what went wrong and what browser and version you are using. If you prefer, you can send any of the info in PM.

Thanks, and again, sorry for barging in. :)

I would love to see something better designed? Easier to find how to post a story or search for one on the front (splash) page? :)

Looks normal. Text and image alignment looks like it might need adjustment, perhaps. IE v6.0

You are correct on the Netscape 4.7. The page displays fine. The problem is that the browser cannot open any of the sections. The links are dead as far as it is concerned. But like I said on IE 4.5 there is no prob.

Thanks - I'm looking into this! :)

hi manu--a request

it looks good and i tried some links, which seem to work. you've done a fine job!

could i make a small request? does this homepage have to have salacious nudes, in photos. i cannot open it when my daughter is around. that goes for both ads and lit material. i remember an ad with upskirt crotch shots of "college girls" in very tight pants.

obviously you have to attract people, but maybe some line drawings, like the lady with her butt presented, would suffice.

ALTERNATIVELY Give people the option of suppressing all such material when opening the pages; that is what I have to do for AVs, many people's lewd little pics, avatars at the side or in the signature.

I should not have to wait till 10pm to visit Literotica!

I think a picture of a Swiss Alpine scene would be nice and set the tone of the place perfectly

With yodeling. I like websites that open with sound, especially if it can't be turned off.

hi sub joe

sort of like those ads for room deodorants!

Can you test the page again with Netscape 4.7? We think we might have that issue resolved now. :)
