The lit old timers thread

So a long long time ago on a different style board we had the general board. It wasn't what it is today. Which seems to be mostly about people's favorite type of porn. While we had that back in the day it wasn't the main reason for coming here.

While I don't know the in's and outs of what has gone on with people I do remember quite a few of them. Sure I wasn't buddy buddy with anyone but I could still shoot the shit regardless.

Anyways I stil see a few old timers on here. Which begs what would be considered an old timer? 2015? 2012? How well you settled and were accepted? Maybe your attitude?

I think moving politics to its own section was a mistake but that section doesn't have the traffic in my opinion.

Some of us have moved on, some of us have passed on, some of us never left, and some of us come back and forth.

Maybe some of you who know people outside of here can tell people to come say hello. They don't have to stay, but just a hello is nice.

Or don't and let this thread die off
Been on and off Lit since joining and completing profile in 2016 does that count?

At my best friend's memorial last year, our dear friend Mark told of an old Jewish belief that says a person lives on as long as they remain on the lips of those who loved them. You both telling stories of your partners in such loving manners keeps them alive. Hugs to you both.
Thank you. That is beautiful. 🙂

I couldn’t go out at all Sunday because we got so much smoke, today was less.
How is it where you are?
We've had many days of it this month. A lot of had us blotting our eyes indoors. It got dark early Sunday, so much so that we checked the weather for approaching storms. There were none.

Today was actually the worst. The smoke was more acrid than usual and I felt mildly nauseous when I walked the dog. I assume it's mostly a spruce fire. I keep hoping they replant with alder so that it smells better next time. Lot's of news stories and alerts about air quality or the lack thereof. I'd like to see more stories about whatever we are doing to control it. It would seem to me that if the administration was so concerned about global warming they'd be more concerned about this deforestation and publicizing whatever they're doing about it.

I’m not sure what they can do about it. It burning in northern Quebec pine bogs. My understanding was it started by arson and lightening.
We’ve had 26 days of heavy smoke so far
I can't even remember some of my own old Lit names!
nice to see you back again.

I don’t feel old.
I just went biking with my daughter and S-I-L. I got a nice pace going, and looked back and they were struggling. We went on my usual route, and they stopped to catch their breath.

WTH? I'm nearing 60.

I suppose it’s what you are used to doing and they are not used to doing.
When we have Forest fire smoke, I have problems.

That's true. I used to ride my bike everywhere (7yrs to 25yrs). They play video games all day. lol

Haze and smoke...two things that ruin days here, but elsewhere it's far worse. Sorry.

Also in regards to the smoke you can thank Alberta and B.C. For most of it I think. People being careless is usually the cause. Sometimes lightning.

Ours had been coming from Quebec, but we get it from the west too.

I am in Quebec. Some days are worse than others. Sometimes you can smell the burning (it smells like a campfire). It burns my eyes.
Our days have mostly been in a haze of smoke, smog or clouds.
This is probably the reason why I am having upper respiratory/sinus issues.

I think it's affecting one of our housecats. He snores under normal circumstances, now he sounds worse and one of his eyes is streaming. Today is better, though. We can actually differentiate clouds from sky in the west. I don't know if I'm desensitized, but I can't smell it today. It still bothers my eyes. I had some wasabi for lunch, so at least my sinuses are open. I'm glad to hear that nobody has lost anything to the wild fires. I didn't know that the Quebec fires were in bogs. I can understand why that would be a serious problem. I thought that the issue with the Saskatchewan fires was that they were simply very remote and I figured that they would have been able to reach them and establish backfires or fire lines by now.

We're getting a bit of cross border smoke from Canada, now. But, we'll be fighting back. 20,000 lightening strikes and 30 new fires in the interior, yesterday.
