"There you are" she said softly as she looked at the boy standing before her in the middle of the maze. He looked as if he was around the same age as her, she was 10. "Everyone is looking for you," Ava said closing the distance between them. "I couldn't find my way out of the maze," the boy said, looking more than a little scared as it slowly started to get darker. "I will show you the way out," she said taking his hand and started to lead him out of the maze the way she had gone in. "You know the way out?" he asked surprised as he stumbled behind her. "Of course I know all the paths of this maze, my father and the other gardeners taught me all the paths," she told him proudly. The two children wound their way through the maze, until they burst through the entrance and out into the rest of the gardens. Lights were bobbing ahead cast from lanterns as others were searching. The boy slipped his hand from hers and started towards the lights and the sound of people calling his name. Ava didn't follow but watched him run, she had nothing to do with the house, her father was the one to deal with the people of the house if the grounds keepers needed anything. The boy only stopped once, just as he reached the border of one of the gardens. Turning back he looked at the girl, with her bright blue eyes and pigtails, that had found him and saw her wave before vanishing back into the maze. Was she real he thought as he turned and ran towards his family.
The following week the boy was gone, it was said that his family had sent him to boarding school and Ava didn't see the boy again.
Ten years later
Ava walked the gardens of the manor, every so often glancing up at the big house. Her father told her that the son of the family had come back to live there. She wondered if he remembered that night ten years ago and what ever happened to the boy that had gotten himself lost in the maze. Oh well she had work to do, there was no time to be hovering around here. Plants needed to be watered and she needed to weed some of the further gardens away from the manor. Brushing some dirt from her pants she headed deeper into the gardens and here long brown hair tied back and braided.
((My character Ava helps look after the gardens with her father and the other men. She has very little to do with the house and the people living in it. I am looking for someone to play the son of the family who owns the manor, who she found when they were both younger. I want them to meet ten years later as he wonders the gardens after returning to his family home and we will see where things to go from there. ))
