The Matrix: Reactivated

Kabuki

Close. Getting too close. We need to get her to safety. Kabuki had to allow that she hadn't shown the usual panic attacks when the bullets had started flying, and she had proven capable of listening to orders.

Of course, if we can manage to free her, that will likely change...

Reaching the building's edge, he pointed to the fire escape. "Start down. I'll be along in a moment."

Turning back to the doorway, he drew his cell phone and a vicious little cut-down double barrel shotgun. Keying the phone, he sighted the shotgun on the doorway.

"She's coming down. I could use someone at the bottom, in case I don't immediately catch up to her."

He concentrated on the door, trying to block out the sounds of weapons fire down below.

Here, kitty, kitty, kitty.

Two followed Zaron, at a safe distance. Far enough away to think he could still escape, but close enough so that he couldn't stop running. They ran, their guns drawn, not firing, but just waiting. It was all a waiting game when it came to agents, waiting and wondering...

That's what Jones did as he came up to the door. He stopped, rather than bursting through the door. What exactly was that? Jones watched as Kabuki waited there, a shotgun in hand. Is that it? He wanted to blow Jones' brains out? Well, it would work for a good couple of seconds... yes.

And then, he saw the woman, running down. He saw it through the eyes of an old bag lady. She was down at the alleyway below, she was picking through trash. She saw what the Matrix saw, and ultimately what Jones saw. The baglady could just reach out and touch the girl, put a mark on her.

He just needed to get out of this body, and into hers...

Jones smiled, as he crashed open the door, charging full speed for the fire esape. One way or another, he would have that girl.

~he looked to the side as he saw through the cracks in the wooded fence. At one point it was a bag lady then it was an agent~

Not after all that, we're not giving up

~he ran over to the fence quickly, dodging traffic in the process. He used his focus abilities and jumped into the air. He went so high, his foot touched the top of the fence and he jumped and dove towards the woman. It all seemed like a slow motion picture to him but once it was done, it all was very quick. He put his arm around the woman~

It's time to go...now!

~they started to run, he noticed there car parked off to the right. Sadly, they hadn't left anyone inside, they all thought this would be quick. They hurried to the car as fast as possible~

He leaned forward reading the cord there was something wrong something different

"Oh shit Zaron do you hear me they have wired the car i repeat they have wired the car if anyone goes near that thing its gonna blow"

Verain had aquired a car and ha gotten Yakus's message she turned around and speed towards Zaron and the girl.

Verian pulled up in front of Zaron and waited until he and the girl were in the car before doing a 180 degree donut and speeding off in a southwardly direction she looked behind them 3 police cars were following them 2 agents in one the other one must be with Kabuki she guessed

She turned to Zaron and said

"This gonna be close and she better be worth all this if Kabuki is wrong then we are in for a whole load of shit."

Either way we're going to need her!

~he looked back also. Praying for Kabuki to get out of there as fast as possible.~

You know where to go, and step on it, Kabuki will meet us there....hopefully

Jones wasn't quite sure what to make of this new development. The man, this Zaron who was sending two of his agents away from the main fight, had now jumped right back into the thick of things. Now, he had all of his men in a line, his strength returning to him.

They would never escape now, not all of them.

When he blew open the door, it provided him most of the cover from the shotgun. Jones lapsed for only a nanosecond, a fraction of their time, even in their concentrated MAtrix modes. In a moment, he had this Kabuki, grabbing him by the arm, pulling it back, almost on the verge of breaking. He held the man there, limply, as he watched the car peel off.

"This is Jones," He spoke calmly, serenly. No more reason for this ridiculous running and fighting. Now, they had a plan, "Stop pursuit. Let them run wherever they want to."

The agents broke off pursuit. The police cars stopped, screeching to a dead halt behind the speedaway car, watching as their only lead ran away.

But... they weren't going anywhere, not without their precious leader. He quickly grabbed up handcuffs, steel adamant, reinforged. Not even Matrix strength could break these puppies. With Kabuki chained up, he reached into his pocket grabbing up the man's cell phone.

"Operator?" His voice slick, wet, oily on the phone. He gave a small pleasure talking to the rebellion, like they were performing some sort of breach of ettiquette. He understood the feeling of torture, knowing each of their members felt it at this moment.

"I have him, tied and locked up. Take a look at your little screen. I'm sure you can see it by now. I want a trade, a simple one. His life, for hers. You stop the car, kick her out and keep going. I let him go, and the rest of you as well. Everyone gets what they want."

Jones pulled out his gun, reloading, and pressing it against the man's temple.

"This offer doesn't last long... "

Ooc: Afraid to fight the agents now? You guys were gun-ho a few days ago...

Kabuki

It had, he kept reminding himself, been a good idea. The shotgun had been an idea that he had played with. Cut down for concealability, two loads of double ought buckshot for a combination of punch and spread, and a specific minimal fire zone. As soon as the door had moved, he'd fired, the first shot at knee level, the second a moment later, the recoil putting the second burst at chest level. He'd been in the moment, able to even see the individual bits of shot screaming away from the glare of the expended propellant, able to smell the gunpowder and the hot plastic. Even with agent level awareness and speed, it should have been a kill zone perfect for gaining him the time necessary.

Of course, the bastard had pulled a fresh idea out of it's bag of tricks, spinning the door enough from it's hinges to absorb the shot bursts. Even in that moment of enhanced awareness, he'd realized his problem, and tried for a different tact. But, in that moment, as his hand had closed upon the butt of the Beretta on his left hip, before the shotgun had even hit the ground, he'd felt the agent's fingers grazing his flesh. A moment later, the thing had him in an aikido hold, using his own nerves against him.

There'd been the normal moment of resistance, then he'd dropped, trying to find a better angle to relieve the pressure. And then the cuffs, and the sound of the agent's voice. With a bitter laugh, he imagined his people's responses.

"Forget it, you zaibatsu bastard. If they've got the One, then they're running for safety. Even you can't get to them."
