First day of senior year. First day at a new school. How horrible was that combination? With a sigh Roxi dug through her closet trying to find something wear. She picked out a pair of jeans that clung to her like a second skin and a shirt that she had always loved, that clung to her lean body as well.
When the shirt rode up it would be easy to see her tattoo, and she liked that a lot.
She styled her hair so that it framed her face, some of it hanging in front of one eye, and then put on her makeup. Some heavy black eyeliner around her eyes, mascara, and some grey eye shadow, as well as some pink tinted lip gloss.
She slid on a pair of knee-high black boots as well and then checked herself out in the mirror. Not half bad. Tough looking, but not emo-ish, just the image she wanted to project.
She was nervous as hell if she were honest with herself. This was a small town and it seemed like everyone knew everyone else, She had yet to meet anybody her age, so didnt know anyone in her school. She had had plenty of friends in her last school, but this would be different...
With a heavy sigh she grabbed her nearly empty bookbag and slung it over her shoulder before getting into her car and driving towards the school.
Her worst fears were realized when she parked her car and stepped out. Everyone was standing in groups with their friends and she obviously stood out because everybody watched her walk across the parking lot.
What was even worse? There seemed to be no rocker-type kids at this school. Now she really stood out.
One blonde cheerleader looking girl sneered at Roxi as she walked by.
"Nice outfit" the girl said, but it was obvious that it was not a compliment.
Roxi bit back a sharp retort and kept walking, choosing to ignore the jibe and the hundreds of eyes bearing down upon her back as she walked away.
The morning was horrible. Several girls made jeering comments about her outfit and the tattoo that showed occasionally, as well as the tragus piercing that adorned her ear and Roxi felt as if everyone hated her on sight, although she couldn't figure out why. She hadn't been mean to any of them... she just didn't fit in it seemed, and apparently these kids didn't like people who were different than they were.
