The new Naked Party Thread.

Spey Rod? new one on me.

Steelhead are fun. They don't know when to quit. :)

I think a 'spey' rod is a kind of two-handed fly rod, but the Bear would be the better to describe it.

Aren't steelhead some kind of trout ?

You may be correct on that but i have enough trouble using a one handed fly rod.

Yea, steehead are like a trout but have the bulldog stamina of a salmon. They may be in the salmon family for all i know. I just like to catch them.

Our local fish are a little less active
:)

You know you have caught the same fish too many times when you set the hook and it swims toward you. Catch and release takes the fight out of them. ;)

Oh, I would not say that too loud; especially in certian parts.
The Pike are thoroughly aggressive and the Carp positively mental.
The local Chub are very determined, too; even the smaller ones.

Yes, a spey rod is a two handed fly rod, just the thing for big fish on big rivers. Steelhead are basically rainbow trout that spawn in streams and then run away to sea to feed. They big and tough. Tasty? This is the fish God invented for His own dinner!

Did you ever try the strawberry pop and bran flakes for carp? It works great over here.

For trout I might use a fly rod. I've even used one to catch small mouth and large mouth bass but for steelhead and salmon, I prefer a spinning rod.

Look up Stauter-Built Boats. They are out of the Bollix Mississippi area. I found one of their boats for sale locally with a trailer for $500. It's 15' 8' long and 46" across the widest point on the bottom. 60" across the gunnels. Pointed nose with a semi vee bottom. I have some pictures I'll try and remember to send you.

The boat according to the manufacturer was built in 1959. It has a forward and aft seat and a livewell and storage locker amid ships. Other than some sanding and repaint, it is solid as a rock. I slipped an old '59 28hp Johnson I rebuilt on the back and it handles like a dream. I plans like a dream and is shallow draft.

I'm taking measurements and making some rib templates. I don't like the way the floor is laid out with longitudinal ribs to stiffen it. The cross ribs are trip hazards. I'm going to put a floor on top of the ribs, take the roundness out of the forward deck, and box the gunnels. The boat is heavy as hell and way over built.

Sobriety is over-rated.

I had it sneak up on me a good number of years ago. One day i realized i hadn't had even a beer in 4 or 5 months and there was a six pack in fridge with one beer missing that had been there 6 or 8 months.

Molly,
Can I learn something of stalking from you & Tx please?

I think it may help with my photography. . . .
<Hh r r rrrr umph>

First lesson, never ask the stalkie about stalking. It's bad form. ;)

Second lesson, never wear camo. It's a dead giveaway that you're up to something.

And three, if you have a camera along, you are now a Pavarotti and not a stalker.

Thank you.
I shall try to remember your guidance.
I'll try and use a smaller camera, as well.
