The scream turned to something far more subtle."Come to the tower of Light! Come! The Dark Lady shall fall by our combined hand!" it seemed to whisper.
The man seemed to ignore her as he ran towards a group of horses. Sighing softly she gave chase once again finally catching up to him when he stopped. "Drakfiend you can only run for so long!"
Marcus turned quickly at the sound of the woman's voice, pulling his axe off his back. He saw her running towards her and shouted out, "I am not a darkfiend. I am only marked like one. I would never serve evil as I fight it."
He could see by the look on her face that she didn't believe him and got his axe up and ready. Before he could balance himself properly to receive the blow he knew was coming she slammed her sword into his axe, knocking him back a few steps. He brought his axe up and swung it with a speed that seemed impossible for a weapon that side, knocking the sword out of her hand. He looked at the woman and said, "I am not a darkfiend so I will let you live. But I can't have you trying to kill me right now."
With that he grabbed a piece of wood next to him and hit the woman across the head, sending her to the ground unconscious. Marcus then turned and grabbed a horse quickly, leaving a pouch of silver behind to pay for the horse. He rode out of the city quickly, not looking back and hoping that no hunter would find him too quickly.
OOC: sorry about that Lady_Siren, but I had to find a way to get out of there and give your character another reason to come after Marcus. Sorry I had to render her unconscious.
Horses breath arose like a mist form the ragged brown steed.
It stood uneasy, ready to move.
Its rider was Enchantra, a Zusayan Sorceress dressed in dark ornate leather that offered scanty protection. She was quite used to it, for she was the 3rd concubine of the god-emporer Nuadah of the Zusayan, a postition of some note for he has after all 300 such concubines. And she was a spy.
"I take it you heard the summons, my lady?" came a soft but strong voice from the hunting tent. A green robed figure of a man strolled into view. Like her leather, his luxurious robe bore the motif of a dragon. It was the chief of Imperial Intelligence, though why he was here she did not know.
"We've worked before havent we Enchantra, so for our beloved and compassonate god seated upon his throne in Brigantia i hope
we can find out what this latest outlands thing is all about. The gods like to keep abreast of human affairs, I think it is why they made us."
"The white tower needs help, may your name be unspoken", she said from horse back.
"Ah no, it needs investigating. Peace go with you."
She caught a bag of coinage that he threw to her. Fine, whatever. It was another adventure in the offering.
With that she rode like the wind leaving the hunting expedition behind to their supposed purpose of collecting new creatures for the Imperial zoo gardens. With the wind in her hair her charger determindly carried her to sight of the White Tower and the mysteries that awaited this new adventure...
Lalita's eyes fluttered open. She cursed under her breath and she struggled to her feet. Her head was pounding she felt like she had been run over by my hundred horses. She hurried and grabbed a horse and saddled it. Checking the tracks she mounted and took off determined to kill that darkfeind.
Marcus stopped his horse and tied it around the branch of a tree then sat down underneath it. He had been riding for hours and hoped that he had put enough distance between the woman that wanted to kill him and any hunters. He didn't want to die before he got this mark removed from him. He knew that it had his advantages as he could go into a darkfiend lair and kill them, or as many as he could kill and they would be none the wiser. There was one major downside though- the hunters that would be after him until he got this mark removed and that woman, whoever she was.
He then suddenly felt very tired and in one breath was asleep.
