The now fully official Author’s Hangout Halloween 2025 competition support thread

I posted my story on the other site, but I don't think I can actually fix all the little issues I need to in time for here. I'm not even sure what all the little issues are yet. :(
 
Well, I'm struggling here to finalise what i wanted published due to ongoing health issues which are slowing me up. My main piece of work has been put on the back burner for next year, working on something shorter which I'm really hoping I can get in before the gate shuts on submissions.

My next story, and my entry for the 2025 Halloween contest, “Aphrodite’s Law,” will be posted on October 16.
 
I've got an opening for a new Halloween story, although I don't know that I'll have it finished in time for this Halloween as it's really just the bare bones of an idea:

High on a hill stood a haunted whorehouse.

“A haunted whorehouse?” I hear you say. “What kind of start is that for a horror story?”

Truth is, this isn't a horror story. It's just a story. My story.

For days now, I've been trying to rework the story I wrote for another site to believe it's good enough to post here. I can't get there, and I'm struggling to figure out why I'm not satisfied with the story. There are a few little things, it isn't that scary, it isn't that sexy, and other things that may or may not be issues. It doesn't feel right, it doesn't read like something I want others to see. It doesn't read like something I wrote, and doesn't sound like my writing when my computer reads it to me.

Therefore, despite my best (or maybe not so best) efforts, I don't think I can get it right in time for the contest here.

Bummer!
 
I may have wandered a little deeper into the shadows with this one. In this fantasy tale I wrote for the Halloween Contests, I found myself exploring nearly every category this site has to offer, making it a challenge to choose a single which one to go with.

I settled on Lesbian Sex.

the Story is WHATEVER YOU DESIRE and recently dropped.

At its heart, this is a story about two women--one a lonely wife searching for something she can't name, the other an immortal being, weary of centuries of desire and loss.

If you've ready my work, you know my detailing of each encounter includes everything...I mean every little thing. Smells, sounds, odors, flavors, hairs. You name it, if its a part of the sexual act, I make sure it reads as great as it feels

As the story developed, I chose to make the path as twisted as possible. That means I have chosen to visit several kinks that might not be the "thing" some readers are here to enjoy. I'm pretty certain that will have rating impact, but I don't get the chance to write fantasy material, of I went all in.

Without revealing too much, know that this story will t test your comfort zone. I mean, really, really, test your comfort zone.

But stay with me--the journey leads to an ending that's both erotic and intense, and, I promise, worth every step.
