I can't believe that my friend David that I had met earlier this year, had convinced me to spend all of my savings for "An amazing buisnees opertunity" In this frozen wasteland. So now he was stuck, no way back. The reason why I was upset, is that David was a no show, He was arrested for fraud.

I leaned against the railing of the docks watching a ferry dock and cars roll off of the cargo bay. "Fuckin' Alaska." I cursed out quietly, rubbing frost off my light beard as I looked around. Everything was so god damn cold. I grabbed a cigar from my pocket and slid it onto the tip of my lips. I patted my coat, looking for my lighter, and then pulled it from one of my pockets, and flicked the small device, a little light emitting from the top.
I took a breath in of my cigar and kicked some of the snow around the place. I leaned back and streetched my arms, and walked down the road. After about five minutes of walking, I approached a small diner, and began to reach for the handle.
"HEEELP!"A woman screamed out.
I stopped mid way and looked up, and adjusted my black hoodie. "What the-?" I said looking down the Alley. Deeper into the alley was a man, and in his arms he was holding a woman at knife point.
"Hey!" I shouted, running toward the man. As I ran down the alley I repeated what I had shouted before. "Hey! What the hell are you doing!?"
The man looked at me, and let go of the woman and began to run of down a seperate alleyway.
"Are you Ok? Whats your name?" I asked picking the woman out of the snow.

It had been a tiresome week, and Aubree had never looked forward to something so much than a night on the town to celebrate the end to what seemed like never-ending stress. Her closest girlfriends had invited her out to a local club, considering that they hadn't seen nor heard from her throughout the course of the week. The club was somewhere that they went at least every other week, and Aubree's fake ID made it that much more worth it.

Aubree nearly had to beg her friends to allow her to have her boyfriend tag along. Their rough past was something that every one of her friends had knowledge of, and their great hatred for him wasn't something that they hid very well. Despite their opinions, Aubree felt that things were going well between them, and figured she'd make the most of it.

"Ugh, I so need this..." Aubree huffed as her boyfriend pulled his car into the back parking lot of the club, her sitting in the passenger seat. Hand-in-hand, they made their way into the backdoor, the brunette flashing her fake ID at the bouncer with an innocent smile. Piece of cake.

It didn't take long before Aubree and her boyfriend, Tyler, made it onto the dance floor after a couple of drinks. Their bodies moved in unison to the loud beating of the music. "Give me a sec, babe. I'm going to go grab another drink." Tyler shouted into her ear over all the noise. She nodded at him in response, turning back towards her girlfriends and joining them as they continued to dance. Aubree was only slightly aware that a young man, maybe a couple of years older than her, at least from what she could see through the dim lighting of the club, had joined up behind her, dancing with no invitation. Just as she was able to turn around to object, she could feel a strong hand wrap around her arm, yanking her hard away from the other man. "What the fuck is this?!" Tyler shouted, now loud enough for the club-goers within their general area to hear them. "What?! Tyler, no, I-" Before she was even able to finish her sentence, Tyler had stormed off through the crowded dance floor, back towards the exit.

Without even a glance at her friends, Aubree ran after him, dodging person after person so not to lose sight of where he was going. The cold Alaskan air whipped at her face the second she made it outside, and Tyler was still visible, now headed down the alley way between the club and the liquor store. "Are you fucking kidding me, Ty?" Aubree spat, coming up close behind him as he refused to stop a be civil. "Seriou-" She was caught off guard as Tyler had spun around, too fast for her own reflexes, grabbing her by the neck and shoving her back against the brick wall. Her breathing hitched slightly, his hand becoming progressively tighter around her neck as she looked into the eyes of a monster. She had to strain her eyes in the darkness to see the small, sharp weapon that he was holding just inches away from her face. Her heart kicked into panic mode, beating harshly, a thousand times per minute, against her chest. It took her a few seconds before she was even capable of calling for help. "HELP!!" Her voice as loud as she could possibly make it. At this point, all she could think about was that she was going to be killed, and by the man she thought she loved, none the less.

Aubree squeezed her eyes shut, only to quickly open them again as an unfamiliar voice sounded, the tight grip releasing from her neck. Barely able to breath, she fell into a small pile of snow, laying there and panting for air. She knew Tyler was gone, but was still far too afraid to get up. Soon, a pair of cold hands brushed against her arm, causing her to flinch, thinking that he had returned. She forced herself to look through the darkness at who was with her, nothing but a stranger. As he began picking her up out of the snow, Aubree heard him ask her name, but was still attempting to catch her breath before she could manage even a single syllable.

"Au-Aubree," she stuttered, the word sounding between two heavy breaths.

"Au-Aubree,"She said slowly.
He looked her over as he picked her up. Having just rushed over to save her, he hadn't gotten a decent look at the gorgeous woman.
"I'm John.." He said slowly, checking for cuts or bruises on the woman, though the only mark of damage was a red hand sized mark around her neck.
"What the fuck was that guy doing? Did you know him?" John said, looking down the alley, and obviously, the man was now gone.
"Coward.." He said, under his breath.

Aubree's breath finally started to slow, though her heart continued to pound at the mere thought of what just happened. She was barely aware that this perfect stranger was checking her over for injuries; a simple act of kindness.

"Uhm.." Aubree began, swallowing deeply before she continued. "He i- was my boyfriend." She managed to correct herself before she finished her sentence. She nodded her head solemnly, hearing the single word he muttered under his breath.

"Hmm.." he said. Why would her boyfriend all of a sudden attack this beautiful woman?
"You look pretty shaken up.. Aubree. You have anywhere to stay, or where you living with that dirt bag?" He felt inclined to help Aubree as much as he could.

The moment John finished his questions, Aubree gasped quietly, then feeling the faint on-coming bruises on her neck. She had just realized that there was no way she would be able to come home. Tears stung her eyes and she wiped at them with her fingertips. "I don't know where I'm supposed to go..." she whispered, looking into the man's eyes for the first time. His looks radiated a sense of mystery, yet there was something about him that seemed so magnetizing.

"Then I insist you stay with me." He said, staring back into the womans eyes.
She was incredibly goregous, and he felt mesmerized by her. An almost lustious feeling, that he hadn't felt in his time in Alaska.

The tone of his voice, coupled with the words he spoke themselves only attracted her even more to this stranger. But could she trust him? After all, she had trusted Tyler for so long. For all she knew, it could all be an act.

"I guess I could do that." She nodded once in his direction, no expression in her face or her voice.

He smiled. "Well, let me find my car." He grinned, and looked around, and then saw his white Jeep liberty. He pulled Aubree by her hand and walked her to ther car."Here we are, my trusty steed." He said, trying to lighten the mood.
He opened the passenger door for Aubree, and then helped her inside. He then proceded to his side and hopped in. "You need to go to your house? Y'know pick up your stuff before Dirt bag #1 shows up?"

Aubree forced a soft smile in return, although it didn't seem to forced as she met his gaze again. She willingly allowed him to take her hand and lead her to his car. She couldn't help but chuckle slightly at his comment; quite the charmer. Maybe he wasn't so terrible after all.

She climbed into the passenger seat and buckled up, looking over at John as he got into the car and began to speak. Quickly, Aubree shook her head, ignoring the soreness in her neck. "I'd rather not chance it. I think I'll be okay for one night.."

"Okay than" He said, working the stick into reverse. After a short while they reached his small house, a brick cabbin, a little small, but it was humble.
"I am sorry that it isnt much, A bit of financial problems have popped up in my past." He said, a little ashamed.
He hopped out of the car, and opened the door for her, and helping her out onto the snow.

Aubree looked up and out through the window as the car pulled into a small driveway. The house looked small, peaceful, much more appealing that her run down apartment that she shared with Tyler. She gave a slight shrug of her shoulders at his comment. "Happens to the best of us." She turned towards him, a single corner of her lips turning up into a sympathetic smile.

She thanked him as he helped her out of the car, smiling once again, before she followed him slowly into the house, maneuvering through the snow in her heels.

He chuckled as he easly wade through the snow in his combat boots, while she struggled with her heels. When they made it to the door, He helped her onto the stairs, and opened the door. Inside was a small living room with a small tv, on the right was the bedroom and bathroom, on the left was the small kitchen and dining room.
"Welcome to my humble abode" He said shrugging.

Aubree studied the small home as she stepped inside, taking in the homey environment. "I like it," she nodded her head once, turning to look at John with a soft smile on her face. "it's very.. simple. I like simple." Of course, anything was better than her torn up apartment that she was left to take care of.

"I guess simple is good now- adays." He said, grinning. After a few minutes he turned to Aubree.
"I just need a few things from the bedroom, and its all yours, I guess I'll sleep on the couch tonight." He said smiling.

"No, no. I won't do that to you! You were nice enough to allow me to stay. And besides, no offense or anything, but that cannot be very comfortable." She laughed softly, pointing at the slightly beaten up sofa.

"Well than.. You suggest we should share a bed together?" He said grinning.
He wouldn't complain, now that the adreniline had run off, he was finally appreciating the slender frame of Aubree.

Aubree leaned forward slightly to peek into the bedroom, noticing the larger sized bed. "Well, I don't see why not.." she shrugged her shoulders once again, meeting her gaze with John's.

He stared back at Aubree. He couldn't help look down, then quickly back up, hoping she hadn't noticed.
"Well it is pretty late" John said, looking to the wall, seeing that it was already past midnight. "And we might as well catch some 'Shut eye'" He said sarcasticly.

Aubree certainly noticed John's eyes as they gave her the 'up down', as she chuckled to herself. She returned the favor, only a little less obvious. Aubree then nodded her head in agreement, meeting his eyes once again. "It certainly has been one hell of a night.."

"Do you need to get dressed, Undressed? I will give you a few minutes unless you need help, I'll be out here." He said, patiently and waiting, giving Aubree a smile.

"Mmm.. I think I may need some help." Aubree spoke as she stretched her neck slightly, wincing a bit. Of course, she was playing up her injuries, but he would never know. After all, she was almost killed.

"Well than.. Lets go" He said, leading into the bedroom.
He smiled as he looked over her frame oncemore, and being able to see it naked was going to be a plus.
