The door hissed shut leaving me amidst the wreckage of the hall. Laughing aloud to myself, as I ran two hands through my sweat streaked hair. "Just like that, it is back to work," I say to myself searching for my pants. Pausing only for a pull at a half drained bottle of wine.
Pulling myself together momentarily, And still gripping the remains of a wine bottle I slide out of the door and pick my way through the twisting corridors of the ship. The doors reading Medlab hiss and part. Revealing a darkened room lit by a few blinking yellow, blue, red, and white lights glowering from the imposing machines of the lab.
Blue was no where to be seen, she must have went to retire, trusting Madame's condition to the expanse of imposing technology. She was not really in danger of her health, she should be her old self soon enough. That thought brought half a smile to my face as I drew up a chair near her bed.
Reaching out a hand, slow agianst the flashing light. I touched her cheek, mindful of her bruises and split lip. Leaning over her to lightly kiss her lips. The warmth of my lips caused the monitors to beep and blink as her eyes cracked open through a painmed haze. "Good morning," I said cheerfully offering her the bottle. She tried speaking, but her lips only flapped slowly, to parched for words. I smiled broadly as I thrust the mouth of the bottle to her lips. Holding the back of her head and tipping the bottle to fill her mouth with azure sweetness. Her cough told me she was done and I removed the bottle and laid her back down on the pillow.
"You didn't think I could leave you without a little celebration did you?" I whispered in her ear, twirling the bottle in my hand. "Actually, now that you should be feeling better soon, I thought we should talk about that foolish manuever you pulled. Congratualtions. I don't know why you went and got that little bauble you chased, but you retreived it. I was thinking, on that. It would sure be a shame for Gloormia to have it, espescially after he pays you off and sumarily dies."
