The Prophecy

Edge

I didn't enter the town right off. I decided as I reached the outskirts that they might be watching from the clearing above, so i waited, moving carefully through the trees to a place where the overgrowth was thick and settling in there, letting myself doze once I felt they wouldn't be able to find me.
WHen I awoke again, it was nearing daylight. The sky was lightening, and the sounds of their pursuit had ceased. The town was gaining some life, but not fully awake yet. People were gathering in the streets but they weren't quite alive with the daily commerce one would expect, even in a small town.
I crept from my hiding place and moved toward town, entering carefully, moving among the people as soon as I could, unsure of whether they still might be watching from above.
As i tried to blend in, not easy with a sword at you side and two strapped to your back, I saw a man coming toward the inn, catching the eys of those around him, dressed in chain mail and looking as though he served someone of royal blood, perhaps.
I followed the man, keeping my distance on the off chance I might have wronged his lord in some way, then entered the tavern behind him and watched as he approached the bartender and requested a message be taken to some woman he'd met the ngiht before. I debated approaching and asking who he served, and if that person might be in search of loyal subjects (who might also be well-paid), then decided to lay back for a while. I sat in the corner, watching the man and the other patrons from afar.

Bogar

Waking from a very resful sleep, Bogar stretched in the bed, and debated staying there for a while longer, then thinking better of it, got up and pulling some fresh clothes, once again a mixture of greens and browns, from his pack he got dressed. Rotating his trunk a few times, he worked out the last few kinks in his muscles, and settling his pack on his back, he left the inn.

Walking down the street he decided to first stop into the local blacksmiths and see what they had. He noticed happily that there was an arrow fletchers shop attached to the smithy also. Walking in he and the blacksmith immediately started haggling over several pieces of equipment. Soon enough they were done, and he had several pieces of armor and another long sword to add to his things. Settling in the corner he quickly went about incorporating the new set of steel gauntlets and shoulder pieces, and steel half chest plate into the many folds of his clothes there they would add some much needed protection if he was going to be dealing with more and more hostile bandits. Walking over to the fletcher, he was surprised at the quality of the work and had no problem paying the prices demanded for the man's work.

After he had finished his shopping, and with a somewhat lighter purse, he headed over to the bar. Walking in, he sat down and ordering a mug of sweet wine, sat back and began to re-arrange his pack to hold all of his new stuff. All the while he was watching the several charecters in the room, especially the one they called Preston, who looked much better than the drunken lout of the night before.

The man stepped from the fire, and still weakly, struggled down the stairs. He shivered as he was exposed to the warm air. He slapped 10 gold pieces down in front of the bartender. "Find... me the... woman who... was here... earlier", he managed to gasp out. Then he staggered into a corner and collapsed in a chair.

Edge

This girl was in strange demand. After the second man came in search of her, I grew greatly intrigued, but stayed my place. Best wait and see what was going on. Especially given the great differences in appearance between the two men, one appearing like aroyal guard and the other...well...
And to top it off, a third warrior had entered the tavern, this one not asking for the girl, but certainly involved with her in some way. Seldom would so many warriors be in one place, especially one where alcohol is served, this early in the morning without similar cause.
I settled back and waited.

Sara

The female barbarian warrior had seen the woman and the man talking in the temple and decided to leave them be. Decending the stairs she made her way toward the tavern that she had first seen the woman at. She did not understand why she was pulled in this direction but she did not question it. Besides it was daylight and she needed some food. Some rest would be nice also since she had been up all night but she had lost more sleep than this before. She would sleep when she could.

Walking through the door she called for some breakfast and juice before sitting at a nearby table. Looking around she noticed several of the men that were there the night before as well as some new faces. She wondered about them and the woman's words concerning heroes. Sara put the thoughts away as her breakfast arrived. The woman would answer the questions when she came and Sara had enough time and patience to wait until then.

Preston

Preston sat at the table watching everyone that entered the tavern. He eyed over each person, wondering what their reason was for being here. Preston reached into his small pouch and pulled out his pipe. What he need right now was a good smoke to clear his thoughts. As he lit his pipe he began to wonder how he would do as Satanius requested if these people were involved. He frowned on this thought, as he blew perfect smoke rings in the air. He would have to rely on luck to complete his mission. Then it hit him, what was it that she was searching for, was it something Satanius feared, was that the reason he wanted her dead. An evil grin crossed Prestons lips, his mind now on the posabilty of getting even with Satanius. Maybe he would wait and see what happened, besides no need to rush ones fate. Preston leaned back in his chair, trails of smoke slowly leaveing his lips, quietly he laughed at the thought of getting even with Satanius.

OOC: I'm sorry my computer was down and I was unable to post but I"m back now!

IC: Nalia smiled at the man and for once felt a glimmer of hope. She reached out and took the sword impressed by the craftmenship. She closed her eyes a moment and then touched the sword gently to his shoulder. She then handed back his sword. "Know this" she said "you do not fight for me you fight with me, you fight beside me as a fellow hero and as an equal" he took the sword "The power that you sense within me is also in you, you must learn to awaken it" She motioned for him to follow "now come, the rest await us in the tavern" with that she turned and exited the temple.

Edric

As she left, I turned my attention to my blade: now humming with a hidden energy. I sheathed it, before following her out of the temple.
"I have been called many things..." I thought, "but never a hero." My attention then focused on whether the others would believe, and, if they would not, how they could be convinced.

Bogar

Grunting, Bogar watched as a female barbarian came striding in and ordering some food sat down near him at another table. Looking over he saw Preston take a seat and pull out his pipe. "Not a bad idea, but I think I'll eat first." he thought at seeing him smoke, then ordering some food himself, he waited to see what would happen next in this surprising place.

Edge

Others had ordered food, and the smell of it cooking had roused my appetite. I needed to eat, to build up my strength in case those I'd just escaped were following me.
I got up, moving carefully, trying to remain discreet, though I doubted i twas possible, given my appearance. My clothes were cut and torn in places, but that would have gone unnoticed had it not been for the fairly fresh blood on my face and neck and hands.
I made my way over to the bar and looked around. The bartender seemed to have gone. To find the girl I remembered.
I turned and looked around for a waittress, found one, and ordered a plate of whatever it was that I smelled cooking (I was almost certain there was bacon in the mix somewhere), then wandered back over to my table, trying to keep my head low and my eyes alert for movement, remembering that the man who'd escaped us in the attack above the city might have as much reason to attack as though that had chased me here.

Nalia entered the tavern and noted that everyone was there just as she expected. Thats fate for you.. she went strait to the bar and ordered an ale. Then she turned and surveryed the tavern, looking to her new companion she smiled "As I said they cannot resist the call, they may not know it yet but being in the tavern all together at once is no coincidence" she turned back to the bar "Leave them be for now, in good time they will come to me"

Edric

Edric sat down next to Nalia, his head still spinning. Hero? No, that can't be right. Edric noted Bogar again, and the others.
He spun around to face Nalia.
"What... can you tell me more? About the... the hero thing. I still find it... somewhat... disorientating, to say the least." he said, a look of innocent confusion and curiosity on his face.

Sara

Sara finished her stew and rose from her table. Coming up beside Nalia she heard the man speaking to her. "Yes, I too would like to learn more about what my destiny is supposed to hold. Please, do not hold back the information now. To go into a battle not knowing your enemy is a sure way to get yourself killed."

Preston

Preston leaned back in his chair, takeing another puff on his pipe. He watched as some of the other people in the room made their way towards Nalia, Preston decided he'd wait. He watched the movment of the others, Trying to see who might present a problem to him latter on. Preston saw the confusion in their eyes, and knew that they diddnt fully trust, nor understand what Nalia. Preston grined slightly, for he too did not know what Nalia was searching for, but he did know Satanius wanted her dead. Preston shifted his eyes now towards the others, waiting to see what they would do.

Edge

I heard the door open and glanced up, freezing when my eyes found the girl. It felt as though even my heart had stopped, and a feeling arose in me that i'd never felt before, like a combination of dread and utter freedom. When I moved again, I took in a deep breath and noticed that my hand, grasping the fork that held the bacon, was shaking in quick jerks. I lowered it, hoping no one had seen the strip of bacon wagging on the end of the fork like a dog's tail.
I looked around, that feeling staying with me, wondering if anyone had noticed. I wanted to walk over to her and ask her what had just happened, as though she knew, but I didn't want to draw that much attention to myself, not when I wasn't sure who any of thsese other people were, especially those standing around her.
I tried to go back to eating as if she wasn't there, but I couldn't keep my eyes lowered. Who was she?

Lokken stood up abruptly, the chair falling with a clutter on the ground. He staggered over to where Nalia stood. "You... are one... of them... I shall help," he groaned haltingly, then collapsed.

Bogar

He felt the... tug... when the woman walked back into the bar, along with his supposed partner.. "Shit, oh well, she got him before I could get us away." he thought silently, as he watched, other people began to stagger over to the table just like they were drunks going ot the bar. "Hmmm.. theres more people involved than I thought." he thought as Lokken approached the group and fell flat on his face.. "Including a true drunkard." he laughed silently in his head. Looking at Preston, he decided to wait and see which one of them could hold out the longest.

Nalia understood the other curiosity and knew that it must be satisfied. But before she could say anything a man approached spoke haltingly then collapsed. Nalia frowned, another drunkard? What hell was fate thinking. She turned to her companions "I will happily answer your questions but first help me carry this man to that empty booth over there so someone doesn't step on him. Together they hefted then man over to the booth and laid him down on one of the seats then she also sat down motioning them to join her. "please sit and I will answer all your questions" they sat down and looked at her expectantly. "I don't know much about the whole thing I was only notified of it a short time ago. What I do know is there was a prophecy written that an evil shall try to take over the land and the worlds only hope were the heroes of light. The sage of light shall search out with her soul to find those heroes. I am she and thats why I am here, I don't know why you were chosen that is for fate to know but I do know that you are the heroes. I know this doesn't really answer all your questions but I know someone who can and as soon as the other heroes come to their senses and join us I can take you to him. He is a friend of my family, a wise druid who lives near by. He will know much more of this then I" she leaned back in her seat "until then we must wait for the others."

Edric

Edric wore a very perplexed look on his face. After a moment of stunned silence, he stood up and spoke.
"Well... I don't know about you guys..." he said, gesturing to the other supposed heroes, "... and I don't know much about prophecies or heroes, but I do know one thing: I need to go with you. I would rather not go into the details." he said, seeing the look on Nalia's face. He sat down again, motioning for a drink of ale. He was eager to hear what the others' reactions would be.
