The Queen is 93.

The Queen – or the Princess, as she was then – didn't just drive trucks during WWII; she also learned how to repair them. "When the training centre was visited by the King and Queen and Princess Margaret, they found Princess Elizabeth in overalls, working on the engine of a Red Cross lorry," says the narrator in the video. "Princess Elizabeth, honorary second subaltern, ATS, is now a competent mechanic, and proud of the fact."

"The Queen is the only living head of state in the world to have served during World War II and she was the only female member of the British royal family to do so. She joined the Women's Auxiliary Territorial Service when she was 18 and learned how to drive a military truck, during which time she also acquired some serious engine-fixing skills."

Wow.

she'll remain queen till she dies, then the title will pass to charles. he has been brought up all his life as heir to the throne.

Since he was 9, apparently.

Personally, I'd much rather she name William. Because William is young and also because I remember how Charles strung Diana along and then married her all whilst he cheated with that filthy whore Camilla. Quite the scandal. And then divorce.

As a member of the commonwealth I'd never be able to look upon the royal family with the same respect.

since he was born, his name was firmly in place as heir to the throne.

does he want the job? probably not. would he abdicate? dunno. as for popularity, harry is most likely more 'popular' with the general public than william, and it's not a matter of the queen suddenly renaming who is heir.

maybe their days are dated. i'm no royalist, that's a given. but looking at america as how the alternative could play out? umm....

Fuck, I detest that ugly bitch.

RIP Diana!

RIP Diana!

Why tho? Like serious question. What did she do that was so awful?
To her Diana was the other woman and she had no reason to like her at all. Nobody in her position would.
She does not come off as a very nice person but most of that group aren't nice people. It's no reason to hate someone tho.

Yep. She's about as popular as poo in a lunchbox that one. Which is one of the reasons why she didn't become The Princess of Wales. Because too many people associated that title with Diana.

God. Who made this horrible alt? It's dumber than smoot.

I'm pretty sure he was 9 when he was given the title or Prince of Wales and heir apparent. Could be wrong.

I'm not an idiot, I know HM doesn't just pick a new King or Queen for fucks sake, BUT she would definitely have a say. ETA As would the efficient.

If the Queen lives as long as her mum Charlie will be 80 before he gets the job. Imagine waiting for a job for 76 years!

as it happens, it's parliament that can have the actual say on succession via parliamentary supremacy but to deviate from the fixed line of succession has all kinds of problems attached to it, least of all what would happen if william died unexpectedly leaving an infant heir to the throne? messy.

charles has the experience william lacks.

as for camilla, if charles had been allowed to marry her in the beginning, as the love of his life, diana would never have been foisted upon him and the rest is history. personally, i'm glad he and camilla were able to be together after so many years of having to be married to others they didn't truly love.

Prince Charles was invested as Prince of Wales in 1958. Longest serving Prince of Wales in history.

Didn't realize that Camilla is technically "Princess of Wales", but chooses to go by Duchess of Cornwall out of respect for Charles' first wife (Dodi's fucktoy)

Oddly enough I always thought of it in reverse. Dodi being Diana's fucktoy.

Oh god, the hagiographic worship of Diana makes me want to puke. She was a media manipulating clothes horse, nothing more.

How much did Camilla respect Diana when she was fucking her husband all those years I wonder.

People hated Charles and Camilla. That's why she didn't get the title.

Me-"I think chemotherapy must be awful"

Loonytunes- "OMG, you want everyone to get cancer!"
