The Republican Base

There is a big fucking difference Mutt and if you cant see that, im done with this conversation.

As we get closer to election day I expect the McCain - Palin campaign to get dirtier and dirtier. They cannot run on the Bush record. They cannot plausibly run against it. As the Bush economy keeps getting worse they will try to change the subject by charging that Barack Obama has grave character flaws.

Would that include the Barney Frank and Chris Dodd economy?

I'd like to say a few words about the recent behavior of the McCain campaign.

I've noticed in the last few days a distinct negative downturn in the campaign speeches of John McCain and Sarah Palin. You've seen the newscasts--Sarah Palin stirring up the crowds with lies and xenophobia, smiling as people shout of Obama: "Terrorist!" and "Kill him!"

This... this right here is what makes me so fucking sick about Republicans. Talk all the horseshit you want about "extremists," this is the true face of the conservative movement in America.

It's Orwell's "Two Minute Hate". Life imitating art.

Oddball, seriously, youve lost me. The fact that you are defending this guy is sad, just sad.

What's so sad is that you can't tell the difference between defending someone and just wanting to know the truth.

You are comparing Ayers to OJ and they aren't the same thing.

Ayers was a shithead. What he did was way out of line. He has to live with what happened to his accomplices when they blew themselves up. He started the organization.

But Ayers never hurt a human being himself. Bottom line. He could have, what he did was reckless and dangerous. And also set back the whole anti-war movement. The Vietnam War which was drafting Ayers' friends and sending them home in bodybags.

On the other hand:

McCain directly supported an organization that ran death squads and attempted to overthrow the Nicaraguan government. Obama was 8 when Ayers did his criminal acts. McCain was an adult when he supported the Nicaraguan terrorists.

I think the strongest words or phrases John McCain has used to describe Barrack Obama is "naive," "bad judgment," and "remarkable!" Sarah Palin referred to Obama's ideas of a sudden withdrawal from Iraq as "dangerous."

If you look back in U.S. history, you see that those words are extremely mild as compared with the early elections. Folks are just more politically correct these days. Politics isn't supposed to be pretty. By its nature, it tends toward the ugly. What is amusing, of course, is that EVERYONE HATES NEGATIVE ADS. Oh yeah? That's horse feathers. People love to say that but more than loving to say that, they love to watch negative ads. Check the YouTube viewership on positive ads versus negative ads.

That's quite true. However, when a candidate for the office of vice president stands before a crowd and positively BEAMS with pleasure when the crowd shouts, "Terrorist!" and, "Kill him!" that says something about her, don't you think? When a member of her audience is heard screaming, "N****r!!" at a black television cameraman, and Palin says not one word to silence this kind of behavior, it speaks volumes about exactly who she is and what kind of campaign she is waging.

It speaks frightening things about what might happen if we ever find her in the White House.

Again, I said nothing about McCain or Obama.

You asked the question if Ayers is a horrible terrorist why isnt he in prison?

I used the OJ line because I wanted to show another example of someone who did a crime but got off. Just because OJ WAS free, it doesnt make him a non murderer. I THOUGHT (and was wrong) you would understand the analogy.

Just because Ayers didnt go to jail, doesnt mean he isnt a terrorist.

They both got off for dumb ass reasons.

"Way out of line" give me a freaking break.

You are correct about this, there is no excuse for letting this happen.

Give ME a freaking break.

The only reason Ayers matters or has even been heard of for 40 years is because of Obama.

Just like no one remembers Iran/Contra or the organization McCain supported in Nicaragua.

Bottom line is, if Ayers was a dangerous terrorist to this day, he would not be a college professor. He'd be locked up for doing something else stupid. I'm sure he's been watched his entire life because of what he did.

Meanwhile, Johnnyboy Songbird gets a free pass for supporting DEATH SQUADS in Central America during Iran/Contra.

What she fails to see is that had she spoken up, and told her audience that she and McCain will not tolerate this kind of behavior, she would have scored a perfect ten with the media.

And its not about scoring with the media, its about doing the right thing. McCain and Palin seem to have a hard time doing that lately.
