The great medical saga continues.

I'm being entertained University College Hospital for the next couple of weeks.
Not continuously but a couple of overnight stays and a mass of tests to try to establish why my brain and limbs are sometimes failing to connect. I have to come off my meds from today... which likely means I'm not going to be great company.

On the positive side, we know what has caused the problem. These tests are designed to determine if any of the damage is repairable. They include new brain and spinal scans to compare with scans taken two years ago - that's Tuesday. Electrical nerve conductivity test - they are fun, different bits of my body get connected to an electrical pulse generator, I think they turn it off when they can smell burning. An overnighter to determine sleep disorder - will they let me read in bed, 'cos I sure as hell can't sleep? A two day mental function test to see how much I can remember. And finally, doppler tests on leg muscles supposedly to see why they go into spasm. No idea what that involves.

I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to it all  Progress reports as and when.

Sounds like you're in for some serious fun there, Neon. ;)

Regarding leg spasms, several years ago, I began kicking in my sleep, for no apparent reason. My wife (at the time, my fiance) and I saw a couple of doctors, who suggested everything from magnesium and potassium pills to exercising before sleep.

Eventually, I was diagnosed with an apparently unheard of chronic blood-clotting disorder. My kicking in my sleep was apparently a self-defense mechanism my body had adopted to try to keep the blood flowing.

You might want to get an ultrasound done on your legs while you're there. Can't hurt.

Gee, some people get to have all the fun!

Hope they finally get to the root of the drama and can offer some constructive help, neon.

Funnily enough, kicking in my sleep has been one of my most recent symptoms, I'll raise it with someone, it might explain why my blood-pressure is in the 190's. Thanks.

Yep, my BP was high at the time as well. Now, considering how rare my disorder is, I doubt you would suffer from the same. Still, it's worth it to get it checked out.

Believe me, you don't want to go through the crap I have to live with . . . .

Thanks. The neurologist told me the damage is unrepairable, this exercise is a double check to see if they missed any physical manifestation that might be causing some of the problems.

We must compare notes :D Here's hoping we both have better days.

*Hugs* Neon

Hope it's as stress-free as possible - and I'm with dampy on the nurse thing. Hot nurses can turn a pain in the arse hospital stay into more of a holiday, so keep an eye out for them. And if you're nice to them and make them laugh, they'll always go out of their way to help you.

Do you know... if you weren't sick and you were allowed to take weed in with you, hospital would be a pretty cool place to hang out and do some girl-watching...

All the best, though. And keep us updated :rose:

Hope things go well and you get a positive outcome. Sending my best.

Love and trength to you, neon.

I hope you get a hot nurse (or doctor) and are able (amid the medical nonsense) to get some rest and much-needed peace.

:rose:

Thanks Guys and Gals. A hot nurse for the 'sleep over' night would definitely be fun :D Great idea for a story... you go in for a sleep disorder test and spend the night performing for the nurse watching the camera :D

Love you and leave you folks. ;)

Hugs Neon, I'll light a candle for you and eat some pastry in your honor.

If they don't take good care of you, we'll be in to trash the joint! You can tell them I said so.

I hope there's some positive news for one of my favorite guys :rose:

Best wishes for a speedy and full recovery. :rose:

So if there's a "grab 'em" entry about a sexy hospital visit (the visit, not the hospital) then I'll know it's you. Maybe a sexy nurse who can't resist trying an Electrical nerve conductivity test on a certain body part to see what kind of pulse she can generate. Hmm.

Best to you.

Whoa!

Mega-bummer Neon! :(

Best of luck dude. Hope everything turns out ok.

Healing vibes on their way.

Keep us posted on your progress. :D
