the shape of pubes to come

I've noticed a trend going on here amongst some Lit members to shave their pubes. Years ago, this was almost unheard of except in "fetish" (yesterday's fetish = today's norm??) circles. I know that there are even people out there that are mildly spooked by it because it reminds them of seeing a pre-pubescent. Some crave their lovers to be shaven almost religiously. Some prefer their lover's lawns be well manicured.

I've also noticed it in porn movies (which is NOT an accurate portrayal of life in general) and magazines that their models are groomed down if not totally shaven below, male and female models.

Is this a trend that will continue? Will we ever succumb to the days of being bushy down below again? Is shaving a fad that'll fade eventually??

What's next? Will piercings be the next wave???

I will never get overly hairy down there again. To me, and this is just my humble opinion, it enhances sex. There's just something about feeling a warm body pressed up against pure skin.

*Goes to Nair herself*

Actually im a guy and i agree with Ezzie, as a male i enjoy the new sensations that come from being shaved. I can feel the heat from my S/O while i am with her and we are intimate. The feeling is amazing, and i dont think i would ever go back. Although i might be a little imbarassed the first time i have to go to the doc while shaved. :) Luckily that hasnt happened yet. Im not too worried though im sure he has seen stranger things.

I dont mind a little hair. I think today a lot of people think hair=dirty...more so with the really young ones than the older crowd. They see shaved pussy and dick when they see porn, so why would they expect anything different? It does feel amazing when shaved though....

For myself, i won't let the hair grow back. i feel cleaner when i'm shaved. i feel sexier and more sensual when i'm shaved. i started shaving for personal reasons, to try and enhance or rather jump start a sexual act, however it didn't work, but i liked the feeling of the smooth skin, freshly oiled and often times exceedingly wet...so i leave it like it is. i didn't do it as part of a fad and that's just my two cents worth! :p

hair, no hair, it's all good!

BTW it's largely an American thing - not quite so fussy about such things in Europe ;)

When we were first married, my wife used to trim her pubes into the shape of a heart. It looked great, but totally fucked my lawnmower.

The majority of men I have dated have prefered me shaved, bald. I have, however, had "haircuts" that consisted of a small patch on the mound, and a heart shape (which I really loved once it filled in!).

I tend to prefer my pussy bald. It looks good, feels great, but can be a bitch to maintain. Especially when one has skin that is too sensitive for harsh Nair to go near!

I also prefer for my partners (male or female) to be bald or trimmed closely. It's no fun flossing when you're trying to go down on your lover! ;)

I for one don't mind that the woman I'm with leave a small strip above the lips, but I honestly prefer clean shaved lips, it's just so much more inviting for me!

I don't shave myself, but that have mainly to do with that I'm single. If I do get a girlfriend, and she would like me to shave, sure I will do that for her, if she does it for me. That's only fair.

Oh and peachykeen, I think it's just as much an european thing as an american thing. Especially when you look in mens magazines.

i am a male and shave my wife likes it. she shaves as well. some hair is all right, too much hair and you should teach the little beaver to hunt.

I haven't shaved in almost a year, and I won't do it again. Ever. I hate the itching that comes with it, I hate the red spots that makes me look like I have an STD, and I hate the attitude behind it - that some men want little girls instead of grown up women, because girls are much easier to control and force to obey.

My hubby also hates shaved pussies. He finds my hair a huge turn-on.

I haven't seen any of the posts here mentioning shaving as an attitude. The posts here mention it as being comfortable, sexy and a huge turn on not only for themselves but for their partners.

There doesn't seem to be any attitude toward the other sex other than wanting to thrill them. There doesn't seem to be any control issues here with either sex regarding shaving.

Based on your comments and assumptions, what does it say about the men who shave? I don't believe any of the men here wish to be little girls because they like shaving.

While I'm not for or against anyone shaving, I believe its a personal choice. I have yet to see an underlying attitude toward shaving. I see it as a erotic fashion trend more than anything else.

I see nothing wrong with shaving. My partner does so regularly now and says she loves the feel of it, both during sex and not. I find the sensation great too-- feeling her skin, soft wet and hot. Men, in generally, are very visually stimulated, so having the clearer view of the pussy is a major turn on. I just trimmed myself a bit, and will try shaving completely here soon (she expressed interest).

Another point in favor, and perhaps part of the popularity, is that it's something we can control. A lot of people experiment with their hair (on their head) so why not pubes too? If you don't like whatever you did, it'll grow back!! So have a blast-- trim, shave, make fun shapes, change color!! (That last was fun!) It's about the only part of our bodies we can modify at will and have it revert if we want. I'm all in favor of shaving!

Dont know if anyone here listens to the "Bob and Tom Show" Its a radio program, comedy mainly. And they had someone on there that called in saying she was a nurse i believe. Said a doctor was performing an apendectomy on a girl with her pubes dyed green with a tattoo that said, "keep off the grass." guess it sounded funnier on the radio. But i thought it as interesting.

That's fun! I wonder if her significant other would be considered a lanscaper then? :D :D

Who knows? Could dying of our pubes be the next fashion statement?

personally, i'm entranced with the concept of a brazilian wax once i figured out what it is... and plan to get one sometime to see how it's like... :)

I seem to be really flexible on this one. Sometimes I like have well-trimmed pubes, other times I like to leave just a strip above the clit, and then sometimes I just shave everything off. I go with whatever I feel like doing - and maintaining!

However, if my S/O has a preference, I have no problem with that. Well, unless he wants the jungle to return! That will NEVER happen!

Svenskaflicka, I find it interesting that you seem to think men who like women completely shaved are seeking for control, dominance, or some weird "little girl" thing. Some men just enjoy the look for itself. Yes, it is a common thing to be asked in BDSM societies - but not for the reasons you've mentioned. It normally makes a woman more sensitive to touch. Plus, getting those pubes caught up in ropes and things HURTS! Nothing like being bound and then having your pubes start being pulled to destroy a moment! :)

LE - I was looking at some porn pics from the 60s recently, and was amazed at the amount of hair on the women. I mean, you can't even find their clit! :D Well, I would suppose, since everything repeats themselves, there will come a time when a return to a more natural look might very well come back. And if it does, it should prove interesting!

I'm sure it will prove interesting if it does come back. Judging from the new sensations that people have "discovered" through shaving, do you think it will though? Granted I know fashions ebb & flow like the tides but there were certain fashion trends I'm glad to see went out with the tide & never really came back.

And judging by our pubic fashions, who decides these trends? Is there an Armani or Calvin Klein of nudity that we just don't know about???

well, I shave myself cuz I like it better that way. Completely hairless is the most comfortable to me for some reason. There are times that I go without shaving for a week or two, but the hair that's grown back in that time isnt that much so it isnt much of a bother.

my boy however, trims himself cuz he knows how much I hate flossing with his hair when I'm giving him head. He enjoys what I do to him so much he's ready to fall asleep and he knows that if I have to stop every so often to pick my teeth clean of his hair I'll get him real close and then stop a couple of times so he gets the point. It drives him nuts (literally). I don't expect him to shave or to trim, but it is a nice treat when he does remember.

Ahhh, a couple that shaves together and stays together! I applaud you for shaving for yourself first and if it turns the BF on, so much better!;)

Interesting. But I would have to say it probably begins with the porn industry. At least I've never seen anything published in Cosmo or Glamour on the benefits and how-tos on shaving one's pubes.

The porn industry is always looking for new ways to entice and draw an audience, and it makes sense that "they" began shaving, men watched and thought - "Gee, I'd like my girl to do that" - and we're off to the races.

For me, I don't think I would have have shaved if it hadn't been for the men over the years asking me to. Eventually it became something that I wanted to do. I also think it affects generationally. Women who are younger, in their 20s, probably grew up with the idea of shaving and it just seems like it was always done. For those of us who are older, there is more of a remembrance of "how it was". I can remember the initial request to shave (back in the early 80s), was absolutely shocking! Not for the idea of the man I was with. Hell, if he liked it, all the better. But I just about died when it came time for my visit to the gyno! Even now, I get a twinge when I have my exam. I'm sure most younger women don't even blink an eye.

Strange how one segment of society might have such a large impact on the whole.

Very insightful Chele! Seeing as how us "older" folks have bridged that gap from the bushy bushy days to the shaved days here, I've always been fascinated how these trends start. I'm really curious to see where our society will take us next sexually.

Up until the late 70's, gay people weren't hardly heard of on TV. The Brady Bunch couldn't even show a toilet (and with 6 kids too- some architect Mike Brady was...sheesh!). Lucy & Ricky couldn't sleep in the same bed. What icon of this era will be looked back upon as groundbreaking?

What taboo/ fetish of today will be the commonplace thing 10-20 years from now? :D
