This is a new idea from moi. Middle ages- magic. 1 out of every 10,000 people born is a Skilled. The Skilled are themselves becoming a race. These Skilled are born with mastery over one spell and fighting techniques. These spells can range from Meteor to Bubble Burst. However, these Skilled can not learn any magic. They can, however, kill other Skilled and absorb their skills. The Skilled come in both good and evil, both male and female. There are normal mages and normal warriors as well. The world is called Mailxe, or the Mix. All races live here. However, recently, rumors tell of a large band of evil Skilled traveling, led by an extremely powerful Skilled named Gunthar who has absorbed hundreds of skills. Note that when you kill another Skilled and you are absorbing their skill, you can't do anything to defend yourself. However, you can be killed.

My character:
Race: Skilled Silvak Draconian (from Dragonlance)
Skill: Inferno
Heighth: 8ft
Eyes and hair: silver eyes and no hair(duh, he's a draconian)
Build: well toned
Weapon: Bastard sword
Armor: Light plate armor

I'll do it! (it's a mix of Hylander and some RPG video games I've played but can't remember. I like it).

Name; Charloette
Race; Succumbus
Skill; Cryostasis
Height; 6'2"
Eye and hair; Red and Green
Wing Color; Purple
Build; Medium. Well toned, but thin.
Weapon; Claws
Armor; Skintight rubber.

Being a creature of the abyss, She has more speed and natural defence than most. (especially magic defence). She is not super human mind you. She has the same stats as an unarmored Draconian. Speed, strength, and defencewise.

one day, morgoths dragonian found Charloette and tried to kill her. He fought her to the brink of death, but she managed to escape. Being a succumbus, she was a masacist and a nympho, so the pain she recieved was an incredible turnon. When she recovered, she tracked down that draconian, and raped him.

They have since developed a sort of relationship. At one point they discovered at the same time that they were both Skilled. Having opposite skills was another factor bonding them together.

there is only one clan of femail Draconians, and they live with their mates and their hill dwarf friends in a secluded area. Morgoth's character doesn't know about them, so he lusts after the next best thing (and has it).

Is this OK morgoth?

This sounds like the type of thread I would love to be a part of. I mean, this is something that I could really get into so to speak.

Name: Aaron
Race: Panther/Man
Skill: Lightning Blast
Height: 5' 10"
Eyes and Hair: Black and Green
Build: Medium toned
Weapon: Battleax and claws
Armor: Light but strong chain mail armor

Aaron is the victim of a magical experiment gone wrong. He was once a human warrior and protector to one of the Skilled but a mage caught him in a trap and tried a spell on him which went awry and caused Aaron to transform into a cat like creature.

Aaron was so shocked with the transformation that he ran away from his duty which caused his protecterate to be killed in a battle. To this day he still does not forgive himself for what happened.

Aaron now has the speed and reflexes of a panther as well as the heightened senses which makes him a perfect warrior. He still protects one of the Skilled and never leaves their side, no matter what- he has sworn that what happened will never happen again.

Does this character sound alright to you Morgoth?

Sounds fun

Name: Gromrir
Race: Dwarf
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Height: 4'5"
Eyes and hair: brown hair and brown/grey hair
Build: Stocky/muscly
Weapon: Double-Handed War Hammer
Armour: Thick Animal Hides.

I will play (That is, if you will have me) Gromrir, a Dwarven barbarian. He is NOT one of the Skilled, though is extremely strong and tough. His kingdom was attacked and destroyed by an army of orcs, but with the aid of his parents, Gromrir managed to escape. He was then 5; and was forced to either survive in the wild or die. He managed to live, and by the age of 10, he was found by a travelling barbarian, who offered to adopt Gromrir, who now knew alot about the wilderness and was extremely knowledeable in this matter. Once adopted into the Barbarian tribe, he learnt the arts of war, and by the age of 18, decided to leave the tribe and search for a meaning for his life.

This looks fun. Hope you all don't mind if I join in :)

Name: Ivory
Height: 5'8
Eyes: Light blue almost a metallic color
Hair: Auburn with silver highlights
Skill: Calling (she can call aid from animals or spirits)
Race: Elven

INFO: Being Elven Ivory knows all about magic, and can recite history from memory but she can never seem to learn any spells other then Her Calling magic. Her family is very frustrated and don't understand it either. They sent their daughter off to find somone who may knw what is going on.

I'd like to join in too if that's alright.

Name: Tyrais
Race: Angel
Skill: StarFire Blast
Age: Appears to be 25 (Angels are immortal but they can be killed)
Gender: Male
Height: 6'0"
Eyes: Extremely light blue
Hair: White as a cloud
Build: Slim but well toned
Weapons: Ironwood Longstaff, Holy Crystal Longsword
Armor: Light chainmail, Blessed silver gauntlets, and a Dragon scale amulet which protects him from fire
Natural Abilities: Flight, high agility, stronger than most human warriors

Bio: Tyrais is from a race of angelic warriors whose purpose is to combat evil. However, it is against their law to use any magic except holy magic. Because he is Skilled he is unable to learn his people's magic and was therefore banished from the mountains where they live. He travels the land still battling evil because it is all he knows. He mainly relies on his staff and martial arts skills when fighting. Only when he is facing true evil does he wield his longsword forged from unbreakable holy crystal. His gauntlets can deflect some types of magic, but not all. After defeating a dragon which was harassing a small town, a local wizard rewarded him with an amulet made from one of the dragons scales. Because the dragon was a type that was immune to fire, he now has the same protection. (Example: He can defend himself from attackers by hiding within his own starfire.) Finally, his wings are metaphysical and can be hidden away until needed.

Starfire? please describe that attack, I don't understand it entirely.

Cryostasis is a freezing magic. The opponent becomes completely frozen to the core. they are NOT encased in ice. they BECOME ice. it kills most creatures, but has the same affect as "stop" on the stronger ones. It is a high level power magic. the fact that Charloette is a succumbus, means she has a high magic aptitude, but even she can only use the skill once before requiring sleep.

the equivelance in ADND terms are, Cryostasis is a 15th level black magic elemental spell. In terms of a video game RPG, when you have a max of 99 MP, it costs you 80 to use.

Basically, when I say starfire I mean fire that is so hot it could only be generated from within a star. It can melt through practically anything. It can be defended against using certain magic and skills. For instance, if someone were to cast a shield around themselves or deflect my blast with one of their own.

The dragon scale amulet I described in my last post protects my character from fire magic, so by creating a wall of starfire around himself he is protected from most attacks and some magical ones. An arrow shot into the flames would immeiately disintegrate. Does this help you any?

That's ok. but with a magic that powerfull, your going to have to seriously, and I mean SERIOUSLY limit the number and duration of times you can use it. Like once a day for a minute long.

When I use Cryostasis, I Need to rest right away. And I can only use cryostasis when I am fully rested with all my energy. It is too powerfull of an attack to flaunt you know. Handicaps are what make threads successfull. the greater the handycap, the better.

I get what you're saying Cryo. Tyrais doesn't use his skill often. He mostly waits until he really needs it. Sort of a last resort. Although how much energy it uses depends on how large the blasts are, and the duration it has to burn. A small fire ball barely weakens him, but if he were to use it to take out 100 soldiers or so, he'd end up completely exhausted. Same thing if he had to block or trap somebody with a firewall.

Also I'd like to point out that this skill idea is very similar to the one in the book, The Legend of Nightfall. Has anybody read it?

I didn't mean to lomit how often he uses it, I meant to limit how often he CAN use it. If it can be used to kill 100 enemies, it's too powerfull and the thread will die. You have to SERIOUSLY limit the Amount and time that he can Physically* use the attack, if at all. I can't emphasize that enough.

A good recomendation I can give is; Once a day, while fully rested, for aproximetly 20 seconds. If you use another skill you absorb from a felled apponent, you can't use starfire untill rested again.

That's a good tip, Cryo. Everyone, good characters. My character's name will be Thorn. Will start when y'all are ready.

Ok guys, I'll tone it down some more. I don't even know why I said 100 soldiers. I'm ready whenever you are. This should be a good thread.

I thought about it and came up with something using Cryo's scale of 99 MP.

A small fireball would take 30 MP, so he can only use it 3 times before becoming exhausted.

A medium fireball would use 45 MP, so he could 2 of those instead.

Or he can use a large fireball 1 time which would take 90 MP.

The strength of the blast he uses will depend on how much the situation demands. How's that?

that's at a Max of 99 mp. none of us are at our max. if anything, were less than level 10! if your going to go by MP, than I am at 30. that's only because she's a succumbus, and succumbi have a strong magic by nature. Cryostasis uses all of her MP no matter what her max is, as long as she has full Mp.

At any rate, your the starter of this thread, so take it away Morgoth.

OOC: On a side note, Thorn's inferno will have a life of it's own, if you will. It can be used at any time, but it shifts power. For example, he could be fighting a dragon and a raging inferno could emerge, or nothing but a tiny flame that barely tickles the dragon. It all depends on his mood and current feelings.

IC: Thorn strode up to the large building, slaves' moans coming from the compound behind it. He entered and swaggered up to the Slave master, an Azurak. " Your majesty, I would wish to join your powerful guild", he spoke respectfully. "Fine. But you'll have to get a tattoo on your forehead", said the Azurak, looking him up and down and taking him in. He lay down on a reclining chair, and the Azurak was at first surprised, then quickly conealed it and motioned forth a bazz. The Azurak and the bazz glided up to him quickly and the bazz drew forth a set of needles. He was just about to begin the tattoo, when Thorn's hand yanked free a dagger and plunged it into the Azurak's throat. The Azurak let out one gurgled cry, then grew light began to spew out of his eyes. Thorn yanked the dagger back and beheaded the bazz. He jumped up and took on the Azurak's form. "It's an illusion, you fools!", he screamed to the fleeing gaurds. "Can't you see? This is a kopak?!" he roared. The gaurds, not wanting to irritate their master, quickly spun about and charged at the "kopak" and began hacking away. Thorn, however, still bearing the disguise, charged out of the building. He ducked just as green fire erupted out of the windows. He stepped inside and saw dying green flames. Not even a scent remained of the gaurds or their master. He stepped into the courtyard behind the shack, and summoning up his most heroic voice, shouted out," You are free! To all, tell that Thorn has released you!" Slaves peeked out from behind thir ramshackle abodes, then yelped for joy and sprang out. They thanked him quickly, then ran away. He turned about and strode away. "Ha! Another Slaver's Guild outpost. That's about the fourth one this month", he muttered to himself. He walked to the bar, some people looking at him nervously, others with joy. He settled down in a seat and the waitress came quickly. He asked for a round for everyone in the room, and a cheer came up.

"So your the infamous Azurak Draconian guild leader. I'm Karen. Do you know how long I've waited to get my legs around you?" A human woman came and sat on Thorn's lap. She appeared human, though she had these mysterious red eyes. In addition, her grip was much belied by her figure. Thorn, being a Silvak, was skilled at taking the personality, as well as the form, of his victims. So he played it off, and feigned only mild interest in the human.
"So what do you say, shall we go upstairs and see if we can cross breed?" SHe whispered into his ear. Thorn laughed.
"Buahahahaha. you know it's me Charloette. Why don't you drop the disguise allready!" The woman looked at him with mock shock.
"Oh, my name happends to be Karen, thank you much. I'm starting to think that sleeping with you was a bad idea!"
"Oh please. I can see through your disguises as easily as you can see through mine. Now drop the act and relax." Thorn said merrily (as merrilly as a draconian can that is).
the woman smiled and nodded. A bulge appeared in the back of her dress. the bulge grew and stretched untill the dress ripped, and two purple leathery wings appeared. Her haircolor fell from red to green. Once free from her confinement, Charloette put her arms around Thorn again and carressed him. A look of dissapointment appeared on her face. "Oh thorn, do I really have to wait 3 days for this form to drop? Azurak doesn't suit you. The scales are too thin and wrinkly." she said. "Your much better with the sleek, muscular silvak form" she said as well, before jugging a pint.

Ivory entered the bar ill at ease with all the looks that men sent her way. She knew she was attractive but she hated it. She hated the attention that it got her she wanted a guy who saw her for her mind not her body. Shaking her head she proceeded to an empty table and sat down. Ordering her drink she sat back relaxed and observed those in the bar.

Tyrais

He'd had to destroy half a dozen vampire nests but Tyrais had finally done it. He had learned the location of the Masters.

The Masters are powerful vampires who use lesser vampires to do their bidding. Tyrais had been hunting them for several months now, determined to rid this land of their evil. For too long they had terrorized entire villages and drained the blood of many young women.

This particular group of Masters was hiding out in an ancient castle which had been abandoned centuries ago. As he approached the crumbling fortress he sensed their evil presence within. Tyrais knew they could sense him as well and would be prepared for his arrival.

Unsheathing his sword, he boldly strode inside. Most people would have considered it foolish to attack such beings alone, much less before the sun had risen. But Tyrais is not like most people. As the angel entered the castle's gateway, he remembered the vow he had made as he journeyed to the lair of his enemies. "I swear that before this night is over, the three Masters I have sought for so long, will die by my hand!"

They downed a few more. Though draconians are known for their love of the drink, Thorn had drank alot and was starting to show. Charloette was no exception. She Wiggled all over Thorn like a snake. "Comeon thorny baby. Let's go hunting. I want some more magic!" she slurred.
Thorn laughed. "Right. Let's go now then. Well, after a few more drinks"
"Oh, comeon mr. prickler. Were both skilled hunters. I managed to discover that Metamorph, remember?" she asked, not being able to see strait.
Thorn was in better controll, but dropping rapidly. "Discover!? HAHAHAHA! You killed a bear for dinner, and it turned out to be a metamorph. If anything, your just damn lucky!"
"Well I'll drink to that" She held up another drink. "After all, How else could I learn to shapeshift? Huh?" She looked at an empty corner suspiciously. "Hey, look. there goes another one of those skilled now. I'll just get up and *Urp*" She passed out and collapsed to the floor. Thorn only laughed and resumed his drinking.

Aaron walked into the town and pulled his hood down further to hide his face. He didn't want the same reaction with these people that he had with the last ones. He looked around and then sniffed the air, hoping to find somewhere to stay- somewhere who had a person that didn't judge him on the way that he looked. He sniffed the air then let out a growl as there was something that wasn't right with this place.

He walked further into the town and then took a step back as if hit by something. One of the Skilled was in this town, he didn't know how but he knew. He looked around, trying to find where this person was before he began to walk to where the power signature was getting stronger. Before he knew it he came to a bar and looked at the door, one of the Skilled was definitely in there.

He pulled the hood down again so that nobody in there would be able to see his face and then walked in, instantly getting hit with the sense that one of them was in this room. He walked towards the bar and asked for a mug of ale then scanned the room, trying to find where the person he seeked was. Then he found the person, there was a elven woman that sat at an empty table all by herself. That in itself was rare but the power that seem to come from her was greater than he had felt before.

He looked at her, knowing that he had found his protecterate, if she wanted him to do so that was. If not then he hoped she would want a travelling companion.

Ivory glance up when she was hit with a wave of power. A skilled had just entered. Looking around she found a hooded figure at the bar sipping a drink. Unsure of what to do she stayed seated warily watching the man.
