The Skilled

The Azurak that was Thorn stopped his drinking. He dropped the disguise and decided to play a trick on Charlotte. He used his inferno skill and cranked it up to full heat. He cast it several feet above her, so that much of the heat was cast onto her. He was too drunk to realize that using an inferno with no mana being spent would alert any Skilled within about 400 miles.

Aaron walked slowly towards where the woman sat. He stood there, not sure of what to say but then he remembered what he said the first time he had sworn himself to protect one of the Skilled. He took a seat across the table from the woman and said, "I know that this is forward of me but I have to ask you one question. I have to ask if you are one of the Skilled because if so then I would like to offer you the service of my sword. I offer it willingly and you can refuse if you like but all I can do is ask."

"Oh lucifer. Yes. turn up the heat baby, that's the way I like it. Oh.. Hey, that's a little too hot. A little... Too.... HOT!" Charloette woke up with a start. Above her an inferno raged, controlled by her lover and companion. The heat sobered her up quickly.

Cryostasis she called as she plunged her hands into the inferno. The entire bed of flame instantly became flame shaped ice. THe ice block crashed down ontop of her, though it was better than the heat. "What was that for?" she called out, standing up through the ice. She was completely sober now (though a little hung over) so she could see that her companion was drunk himself.

"Aha! so both'er ya er them skilled. Wehel. I'ma gonna enjoy taken yer skills now!" a seaman stood up from a table, and shot a bolt of lightning from his hand towared Charloette and Thorn.

Charloette looked to her companion, her face bored. "Would you like to take this one?" she asked

"Actually, I'm a little drunk. maybe you should handel it" said thorn.

"Drunk schmunk" said Charloette. "He's just a mere human with a Bolt 1 skill. Besides, I got the last one"

Tyrais

The first Master Tyrais had encountered had been the youngest of the three. Though he'd had a close call when a loose section of wall fell on him, he'd found a way to use it to his advantage. When his opponent came close enough to see if he was dead, a simple StarFire Blast took him by surprise and finished him off.

The second Master had been more of a challenge. That one had been a powerful wizard before being turned into a vampire. Using his gauntlets and sword to deflect the sorcerous attacks, Tyrais had patiently allowed him to wear himself out. The moment he let his guard down another StarFire Blast turned him to dust.

Now he was engaged in battle with the third and final Master, this one being the eldest and most powerful. Part of what made him so powerful was that he was a Skilled. His Skill was called Exploding Arrow. He would form an arrow between his hands, aim, and release. After a delayed reaction of a couple of seconds, the arrow would explode with tremendous force. Fortunately for the vampire, he did not yet know that. The first time he did this Tyrais avoided the arrow, but not the following explosion. The force of the blast sent him flying across the room. Now that he knew what to expect, he would definitely take more care.

After avoiding several more shots Tyrais knew that eventually, even a Skilled this powerful would exhaust his personal energy. Once that happened, they would be on more even terms. Finally, when the Master was unable to form another arrow, he emerged from his hiding place and suggested they settle this sword to sword. For several minutes they traded blows, trying to find any weakness to exploit.

The Master knew he was winning. While he had depleted much of his energy using his Skill, the angel had done the same when he killed the others with his own. He assured himself that it was only a matter of time before this foolish do-gooder made a fatal mistake.

Tyrais smiled. He might be an angel, but that didn't mean he wouldn't resort to cheating. Bringing up his left arm, he used his gauntlet to reflect the light from one of the torches placed along the wall. In the split second that the vampire was distracted Tyrais plunged his blade through the monster's heart.

The Master's body fell to ashes as his Skill surged into it's new owner. This was the first time Tyrais had absorbed the Skill of another. The sensation was incredible. Once he was recovered from the great transfer of power, he sheathed his sword and began to exit the castle, having finally completed his mission.

Or so he thought...

"Ah fine", Thorn snorted. He stuck up a gantlet and deflected the lghtning. It flew back and hit the seaman head on. He was raised into the air and electrocuted by his own Skill. But the kill still went to Thorn. He was lifted up as usual, and the skill entered him. As it ws low level, it elicited little pleasure. About as much as getting drunk. He had some before that dulled everything, some had even brought him into Nirvana. He settled down, sober. "Pathetic, I tell you. Why the hell did he think he could kill a Sivak and a Succubus? Was he insane?" muttered Thorn.

"So thorny. What's the count up to now, 4? 5?"

"6"

"Wow, 6 skills. I only have three, but at least their good ones." CHarloette resumed her seat on Thorns lap. "So when are you going to come upstairs with me? There's a hole in our room that needs plugging."

"Oh yah? well, where is the hole?"

"Well, it's not there yet, but it will be as soon as I walk in...."

Gromrir

OOC: Hey, sorry I haven't posted here yet hehe I haven't been on in... a long time. But I'm here now, so you can all celebrate... uh, yeah...

IC: Gromrir hefted his war hammer onto his shoulder as he stood upon the crest of the hill. He looked down into a valley, and at the far side, a great castle. From the castle there were a few bright sparks of light, and he narrowed his eyes. He looked up at the sky; he had been travelling for a long time, and it was now night - he had not even noticed, simply trudging along the whole time in a daze. His last encounter with one of the Skilled had been a very close one, and he had been wounded badly.
"Cursed mages! And if I know anything, that there lights is one of 'em too! Perhaps he's a friend of that last bloody one..." he growled, before setting down towards the valley and the castle.

OOC: It's fine.

IC: Thorn looked at her lustily, then stood up. "Shall we, then?" he gestured. He practically flew up the stairs himself, and lay down on the bed expectantly.

Morning came. Charloette rested peacefully on Thorns chest. Even though drunk, he still managed to satisfy her Nymphonic and Masacistic nature.

Thorn disterbed her slumber. "It's morning" he said, as he pushed her away and got up. Charloette sat up and stretched her wings while looking around. What did they do last night? There were claw marks all over the walls, a chair was smashed, a table was missing a leg, and 2 of the pillows could be seen in 6 different places. No wonder she felt so good this morning.

"So Thorny. What's to do today?" she asked. There were no more skilled in the town, so she couldn't go hunting for abilities. But perhaps she could go hunting in general...

"Well" he said. "I killed that Azurak for a reason. I just have to complete one more task and we can move on."

"Ok, so I'll see you back here tonight? or do you need my help?"

Tyrais

IC: Tyrais had just exited the castle, when out of nowhere a blast of magic sent him flying through the air. "What the hell was that?!" he wondered. Staggering to his feet he sensed a malevolent presence nearby. He looked up to find a vampire standing right in front of him. Worse yet, this was another Master! He'd thought there were only three of them. Having defeated the ones in the castle he'd foolishly let his guard down.

"I knew you'd fall for my little trap." said the Master, smiling. Now, not only will I rid the world of another angel, but gain two new Skills in the process." As the Master raised his right hand in front of him, it began to glow.

"So not only do I have to deal with a fourth Master, but a Skilled one as well." Tyrais grumbled to himself. "That's just great!" Thinking quickly, he slipped a vial of holy water from his belt and flung it at the vampire's face, taking him by surprise. He jumped out of the path of the blast just in time. While he was blinded, Tyrais took the opportunity to put some distance between them. As he ran, he tried to think of a plan.

"YOU'LL PAY FOR THAT, YOU LITTLE PEST!" cried the Master. While the holy water had temporarily distracted him, it had not burned his eyes as Tyrais had hoped. It took only a short time for him to recover and resume his hunt for the escaped angel.

Hiding in a hollow tree, Tyrais hoped the vampire would pass him by. But as fate would have it, he instead spun around with a triumphant yell of, "HA, I found you!" Panicking, he did the first thing that came to mind. He formed an arrow between his hands, aimed, and fired. He missed. The arrow imbedded itself in a tree and two seconds later, it exploded. "Pathetic." spat the Master as his right hand began to glow. With only a moment to act, Tyrais crossed his wrists, shielding himself as best he could with his gauntlets. The force of the blast flung both of them away from each other. Between his injuries and being drained of energy from use of his Skills, he could no longer remain conscious. Finally, he passed out.

The Master however, was no longer a threat. Having been flung against the recently destroyed tree, his last sight before expiring was of the splintered branch that had pierced his evil heart.

As before, the slain Master's power arced out of his remains seeking the nearest Skilled. This time though, it was not Tyrais who received it, but a wounded figure carrying a war hammer.

OOC: Glad you're back, Dark Warrior. I hope you don't mind my helping Gromrir acquire a Skill this way.

OOC: Goddammit! Wouldn't you know it? Just a minute or two after I hit the submit button, I rememebered your bio saying that Gromrir isn't Skilled. Sorry about that. Since I'm unable to edit my posts, you should probably just ignore the last paragraph of my post, unless you have some idea of your own.

"I can handle it", Thorn said impatiently. He shifted into the Azurak's body and left. He quietly approached the Raider Hold in the town. They quickly saluted to him and opend the door. He stepped inside and marched up to their leader. "Sir...", he said, surprised to see his leader. "Never mind. I need a map of every raider hold and Slaver's Guild in this nation. And I need it by tonight!" he growled. "But sir...", he began, but was once again cut off by Thorn, "No buts. I will have either it or your head tonight", he spoke threateningly, then turned and left. Once out of sight, he once more became a Slivak. He stalked into the bar and ordered a few drinks.

OOC: sorry I've been really busy lately

IC: Ivory looked at the man surprised by what he said. She hesitated to tell him she was a skilled. What if he was a hunter? Like the on that killed her mother? She caught his eyes with her own and held his gaze for a moment before nodding. His eyes were kind and sincere "Yes I am a skilled. I am flattered by your offer but I don't understand why you give it?"

Aaron moved the hood of his cloak back a little to show the woman his face. He moved forward and in a voice just low enough for the two of them to hear said, "I have taken an oath to protect the Skilled. Once I pledge to protect one of them I will give my life if need be to do so. I must tell you that the last one of the Skilled that I was protecting was killed because I ran away from my duty but I will not do that again. If you will let me protect you then I will do so to the best of my abilities as I seem to know where they are. I don't know why or how I can do this but I seem to know if one of the Skilled is near me. What say you, do you wish for me to be a protector or a travelling companion?"

Thorn lounged back in a chair at the inn, and waited patiently as a waitress walked up to him. "Some ale", he said briefly, and waited for Charlotte.

Gromrir

OOC: Don't worry about it Sephiroth. And no, I don't want to absorb his skills. You can have it.

IC: Gromrir grunted as he overlooked the two combatants, rubbing his chin. "Stupid Skilled! Don't know what's good for 'em..." he said, looking the remains of the vampire up and down. His gaze strayed across to the fallen angel. He could feel a soft and gentle aura surrounding the unconcious warrior, and so he resisted the urge to crush his skull. He crouched over Tyrais and laid one hand on his chest, feeling for a heartbeat. He found one, and with no further ado he picked the body up and slung it over his shoulders. It was heavy, and he was weary, but somehow he found the strength to carry on.
"Gotta get this guy somewhere safe..." he muttered to himself, surveying the nearby lands.

Gromrir

Gromrir layed the angel down, not too gently. He sat down and placed his war hammer by his side, before looking around the cave they were in. Hopefully it was abandoned as he thought; it certainly was big enough for something to live in, but it did not seem that anyone currently lived in here. With a reassuring nod, he looked down at Tyrais. Overlooking the angel's wounds, Gromrir allowed himself a smile.
"Stupid weakling, he's hardly taken any damage..." he said with a laugh, before settling down to await the angel's awakening.

Anduine

Seeing a dwarf with a angel on his shoulders Anduine desides to investigate why hes going into anbandoned goblin cave and why he has an unconssiouse angel with him.

Anduine "Dwarf what are you doing in elven lands yo do not belong here, and what are yu doing with that angel.

Dwarf, " I do not want to fight elf i am wounded and i have to look over this angel".

Anduine "were you involved in the fight with the skilled over the hills."

Dwarf "no i wasnt i was just walking along when i saw the fight. Before i got there it was over and this angel was hurt."

Anduine "we cannot stay here for long this a cave for the goblins during winter time they may comeback any day now. We must leave when your friend is able. I will guide you out of the forest safley. But now you must rest i will keep watch. My name is Anduine and what is yours."

Gromrir

Gromrir looked the elf up and down, "The name is Gromrir." he said simply, before looking back at the angel. "And don't misunderstand. He's no friend."
"So, do you save ALL those who are not your friend? Put yourself through exhaustion even though you are wounded?" the elf replied with a wry grin.
"Be quiet, o mighty pointy eared one." Gromrir replied sarcastically with a flash of anger.

Tyrais

IC: Tyrais awoke to what sounded like an argument. He carefully opened his eyes to find himself in a cave with a dwarf and an elf. He hoped they were friendly. He was still exhausted from using his Skills and would have trouble defending himself.

"Um... Hello." he said tentatively.

OOC: To correct my earlier post I've decided that Tyrais absorbed the Master's Skill, but he hasn't realized it yet.

Anduine

With a grin that would anger the devil himself, Anduin tels gromrir "Your wounded friends awake."

Gromrir looks down at the angel and says,"yor finally awake winged one."

Looking at the angel Anduine says, "Can you walk Winged one because we most leave in a hurry this is a cave the goblins use during the winter."

As Anduine finishes speaking his head turns around and says, "goblins are heading this way we must leave now."

Gromrir

Gromrir stood and grinned, brandishing his war hammer.
"Let the little annoying bastards come here, I'm ready for 'em." he said with a defiant tone, taking a few practice swings at imaginary goblins.
"Uh, but, there's a lot of them..." Anduine said, pointing out across the valley.
"What, you scared or something?" Gromrir said mockingly.
Anduine began to say something, but Tyrais interrupted him. "Look, we can't stand around here arguing amongst one another. I think I can move. Now let's go."
Anduine nodded, looking over at Gromrir questioningly.
"Tch, fine. But don't expect me to save either of you if the greenies attack us." the dwarf said gruffly.

Ivory looked at the man warily then nodded slowly praying she wouldn't regret this. She did need a companion. It was awfully lonely traveling alone. Plus this man was kind of cute. She nodded again with more conviction. "I accept your offer, what did you say your name was?" she smiled "My name is Ivory"

Tyrais

IC: Tyrais was unsure what to think of either of these strangers. At least they didn't seem hostile, although the dwarf obviously wouldn't mind a fight with those goblins. Had he not been so exhausted, Tyrais might have welcomed the battle as well.

As they left the goblin's cave, he decided that introductions were in order. "My name's Tyrais. What's yours?"

OOC: Just thought I'd mention that while Tyrais' hair and eyes identify him as an angel, he keeps his wings hidden until he needs to fly.
