The "Things you've done" thread

After TontoedRanger went to the great beyond and back from the abyss - I don't think I can top that one. Though I have been known to disappoint people a time or 2 along those lines.

Never let it be said that God above doesn't have a sense of humour.;)

I finally got around to doing some linework for that comic I'm thinking about doing. I couldn't make myself keep drawing THAT shittily but I tried to keep the same style. But now with like... room for organs, gravity, and a body on the chick that is actually hot rather than like... whatever the fuck that style thinks people look like. I just could not force myself to do hentai anatomy for more than that one sketch of spite. Like yes, the exaggeration is stylized, I get it, and I tried to capture that but there's a difference between "stylized" and eyebleedingly bad.

I haven't actually looked into pornhub though, so I'm actually not super sure if I'm going to post it there. I just am gonna try to make at least one passable image tonight because I have to stay up all night because of some shit in meatspace.

Damn you! As someone who has trouble drawing stick figures I am totally jealous of this.

:D
I suppose that's one of his ways of getting even w/me for all those times I "sedated" one of those critters.

That guy is a total fraud.

When it comes to making fire, he talks about Kilauea?

FWIW, God supposedly made the universe. There's THOUSANDS of balls of "fire" called "suns" or "stars" in the universe. And the charlatan in this thread merely mentions a volcano. Pathetic and he still can't speel worth a dam.

Keep up angelboi, your own schtick is failing you.

Ohh. Mmy. Godd.

Tontoed speak with Great Spirit Walker. Him okay w/that.

I forgot to post this because I actually forgot this was a thing I was going to do.

Edit: Apparently imgur doesn't resize anymore, so you get what you get

Working on this. It needs one itsy bitsy part called a "lower balance hole jewel". If you look at the crescent shaped part, there's a hole in it with a little dark spot at the bottom. That's the jewel. The one in there is busted worse than a clandestine drug dealer at a police dog convention.

All of that is what's inside a pocket watch. Plus the balance and balance bridge (not shown).

What would be nice would be if other people posted stuff they've done in this thread.

This is probably white charcoal pencil, 15-25 years old. I don't draw or paint now.

That's pretty cool. I have a blue jay done in acrylics on Maple plywood that I painted a couple / three decades ago hidden around here someplace. I keep looking for it but can't seem to find it.

I still draw sometimes but I haven't painted anything since the blue jay.

Here's a fun story.

So my whole life, my dad has been an asshole about everything, as is his want, but in particular about my "girly" interests like making my own "fagtastic" clothes, a word I don't think he expected me to embrace with such enthusiasm.

Then his ass stopped working. His whole intestines actually quit working and he had to have a series of surgeries over about 2 years, and wound up with a colostony bag. Well you can get protective insulated covers for them, but apparently they're very expensive. So this motherfucker comes to me hat in hand like, "Hey I know that you're really good at sewing, can you make these for me."

I had a prime opportunity to tell him to fuck right off like someone really ought to in that situation. But do you know what my punk ass did because I just couldn't stand to see a sick old man in need?

This:

For some reason this did not sink in the first time I read it. While what you made is impressive ( at least in my mind) I am very impressed with your level of compassion and maturity. It's easy to do something for a person you like, not so easy for someone who has done you wrong. Many would tell him to fuck off.

This is what being a good person is. It takes someone with a level of self confidence, maturity and compassion well beyond the norm to do that. I stand awed in your presence young man.

Repairing the VitaMix got me kudos from SHMBO, but won't get me any cred here.

I concur.

Something new. It's an Elgin HH Taylor that was built in 1871. No, that's not a
typo - it was made 148 years ago in 1871. It has 15 jewels and is "approved
for use in Railroad Service". Which is usually called "Railroad Grade".

It came as a ziploc baggie of parts. I disassembled the movement and laid it
out for inspection. Stuck to the blue/green blob is the "Balance Bridge".
There's a 2nd bridge right next to it. In the plastic tray is the balance for that
2nd bridge. The 2nd bridge is the one for this particular watch movement (they
have serial numbers). The balance also has a serial number so I needed to
combine the parts, not swap them, to make it complete.

In addition to combining the balance parts, it also needed a "roller jewel". If you
look at the dial, there's a "speck" between the 8 and the center hole. That's the
"roller jewel". I had to remove the tape holding it on the dial face and stick it
onto the "roller table" on the original balance wheel. If you look at the balance
in the plastic tray, you can see that shiny "disk" on it. That's the "roller table".
It has a VERY tiny hole in it for the jewel. To hold the jewel in place, you use
melted shellac as a glue. The jewel MUST BE straight up and down, oriented
properly (it has a flat side), and at the correct distance from the "fork" it engages
with. Installation is done under high magnification with a heat source (I use a
micro soldering iron) to melt the shellac.

After cleaning, I assembled it and adjusted the combined parts to make it all
work together properly. Then I stuck it on my timing machine. This watch is a
"slow train" and runs at 16,200 beats per hour as opposed to more modern "quick
train" movements which run at 18,000 beats per hour.

It's running a little bit fast in the pic but I was able to adjust it. It runs at a
very steady 16201, 16202, 16204, 16201... which is REALLY stable.

And here it is in a new case. This particular watch winds with a tiny key instead
of winding with a winding crown up in the watch bow.

It's been running for the past 10 days (as of this post) and is holding time better
than the standards required for Railroad Service at the time it was manufactured.
It's even better at doing that than modern day "chronographs" with higher jewel counts.
