The virgin threshold, then the AV, now this!

Re: numbers numbers numbers...

at first I cared. It was sort of egging my addiction to literotica on..."just a couple more posts and I'll be "experienced" and then I can go to bed..." - then I woke up and realized I'd reached 90! Time to make 100 my goal so that I could have an av! okay, av achieved, let's go for a title...1000 down! And...and...well...then what? Well, by then I was hopelessly addicted. I sort of noticed myself breeze by 5000, I notice that I'm sort of nearish 10,000 now...but it's just no big deal. Do I look at other people's post #'s? Only when they're small numbers like 1, 2, 3...the only reason I look then is that usually a person with a small amount of posts won't answer you if you answer a question they pose.
There aren't any "goals" after 1000, right? I do notice what other people's numbers are, but generally only in connection with how long they've been around. As I mentioned, I don't understand how people can get upwards of 10,000 posts within a few months' time.

You currently show 2.19 posts per day, so it will take you 23.7 more days to reach 1000 posts if you post at the same rate.
Well, if anyone happened to notice, I made it to 1000 posts, yesterday. Yippee!

Of course, that is lots faster than the 23.7 days it was suppose to happen by the system's calculations. But, I know my subconscious surely took over and I watched the numbers tally up more than I would have. So, I probably posted more than in a "normal" 6 days, for me.

I waited, sat here in front of the computer, watching for the bands and fireworks. But, like others had told me, nothing happened. Not a single boom or sizzle, oom pah pah, or anything. 1001 posts truly is just another day at the forum.

But, I can be just a little more expressive, now.

I'm hoping for at least a gift bag for when I hit 13,000. I gots nothing when I reached 1000 so many years ago.

Congrats on the 1000. :rose:

Thanks! And, if I happened to live close, you would get more than a gift bag at 13,000. Just in case you were wondering. :)

Oh well, no lights and whistles for 13,000 either.

sigh....
Oh, I don't know...I've since seen your pics. There are a few whistles in there. :D

Although, I am sorry to say Lit's drive has a problem right in the middle of them. Pitty.

You were saved from the ghastly sight of the rest of my pics then. ;)
deprived, more likely. And just as I was getting into it, too. Only the first page worked. :(

I cannot stand the whole posting/rating thingy, it drives me batty, so once I reach a significant number I tend to have hissy fits and unregister and re-register myself or take on a new nickname on some variation of serijules (seri, serij, jules, etc).
So ... can you change your title now, or do you have to hit 1,000?

What I really don't get is the people with 12000+ posts in something like a year. If I were to keep up my current posting rate (i.e., not the number shown in my profile) I might be nearing numbers like that, I guess, but it still boggles my mind. How can any of those posts have worthwhile content?!

Have you not met anyone that would not stop talking? I know friends like that, it does boggle the mind that they come up with so much trivia.

Lol, that is totally cheating AS :D

That is cheating. tsk, tsk

I suppose we could do the honest thing and comment on it incessantly and at least allow him opportunity to earn the count. I mean, what are friends for, right? ;)

Um, I dunno, although I just noticed since you posted this that I'm not really really experienced anymore. I have been posting more lately than I have in the entire 3ish years I've been here, I go through spurts like that.

I wouldn't have a clue what to put in it anyhow, took me forever to find an AV I liked. That kept changing for awhile too, which annoyed me because it annoys me when people change their AVs since I tend to not remember nicks and go by AVs.

I'm easily annoyed.

Hrm, maybe that can be my title in a few years time. really really annoyed *snicker*

I read boards where I never post...

I read boards where I am in the top 10 posters. (whew, that is scary!)

Getting a little bored of some of them, so while I've lurked here for a while, I am finally posting. I don't worry about numbers

Literotica was the second messageboard I joined, I think. I know I started posting here and stopped at around 800 or something. I then went on to other messageboards. This messageboard account has the second most posts - the one in first place has 11,700 posts or something and still steadily growing. It is the the third highest posting account there anyway.

Anywats, if we are to get into taking time to reach 1,000 posts, there are usually a few types.

Instant post spreers - they don't know the community that much but this post function is really neat. They'll reach 1,000 in a month or two and then quickly bore out of it and drop from the face of the messageboard.

Postwhores - they'll start posting but unlike the one before them, they'll feel attached to the community and continue their pattern for a very long time, reaching beyond 10,000 and the sort.

Plateau Postwhores- they'll work like normal postwhores except they'll slowly catch on and start writing longer and more meaningful posts and the sort.

Belated Postwhores - people who start out lurking and then realise after a while like 6 months or a year that posting is fun to do. Then they will accumulate a lot of posts.

Belated Plateau Postwhores - mix the two before this one together. These are usually only seen in posters who have been on a messageboard for more than two or three years.

Wit Poster - A person who posts and adds a little warmth and humour to threads. While not postwhores, their posts are usually short and to the point.

Regular Poster - Someone who makes decent attempts in each of their posts to contain information, however they like to post on a regular basis averaging between 1 and 10 posts a day beginning at about 6 months, sometimes longer. They will usually take 1 or 2 years - maybe even 3 years to get to 1,000 posts.

bollocks

I remember my 1000th post like it was yesterday.

I posted it from the back seat of my car using someone's unprotected Wireless LAN. It was everything I had hoped it would be and I knew I'd be doing a lot more.
