The War on Christmas should be fought with GUNS!

It's generic. It's all auto correct; it's the same hook to the same black box variant.

The morning AceRebelWat “conversation” is missing one of its alts. I hope he’s not ill. Thoughts and prayers.

Thanks be to Allah for all of his manifold blessings and great mercies . . . .

To be fair, before the 19th Century, Christmas was not a decorous family holiday. It was a get-drunk-and-cut-loose holiday. Rich people shuttered their windows at Christmas.
I'm convinced the non-stop barrage of Christmas ads featuring Santa drinking Coca-cola instead of milk in mainstream magazines from 1930 or so through today have standardized the Norman Rockwell-esque appeal of Christmas to Boomers and later cohorts.

A lot of pre-Christian cultures in Europe had a holiday around the time of the Winter Solstice. The religious significance varied from one culture to another, but the real purpose was always the same: to provide a festive break in the winter.

I prefer Christmas the way it was - Yule... and what were the Winter Holidays before they were renamed due to political correctness? That's right! Christmas. And what was Christmas (at least in northern Europe) before Christianity hijacked the winter solstice festival? Yule. And what was Yule? It's a mid-winter (winter solstice) festival historically observed by the Germanic peoples, with probable far earlier origins, which was later Christianized. Many present-day Christmas customs and traditions such as the Yule log, Yule goat, Yule boar, Yule singing, and others all stem from those old pre-Christian traditions. The word is attested in an explicitly pre-Christian context primarily in Old Norse. Words with an etymological equivalent to Yule are still used in the Nordic countries and in Estonia to describe Christmas, and Yule's roots lie deep in the past, possibly far back into the Stone Age, but have survived into the present.

Okay okay, it's my favorite Christmas story. Just because I wrote it myself.....

Think I'll go out this afternoon a shoot a few Sharp-tails and a couple of Huns. I'll be with friends in Phillipsburg on Christmas. Should be a white Christmas. Hope you have a great holiday Wat.

Thank you very much. A very merry Xmas to you-n-yours. You kids have fun.

No snow in the forecast, which suits me fine. The kids who get sleds might not agree.

Can we get an update from the frontlines of the War on Christmas?

Fox News started the War on Christmas way back in 2004. 20+ years is a long fucking war! What is the casualty count?

Are children in our war torn nation deprived of Christmas presents? Have Christmas trees been banned? Have all of the Christmas parade organizers been deported? How many churches have been prevented from holding Christmas services? Was everyone at your workplace Christmas party detained and questioned by authorities?

I want data!
