Why was she here?....She found herself asking that very question as she sat at her designated seat. Who actully assigned seats to their guests anyway?...couldn't they pick their own seats? She shook her head, she was just being cranky. Her friend Ryan was the groom and he had insisted that she couldn't NOT come to his wedding. Her and Ryan had been good friends thru most of their college years. His now Wife Chole had thought they were more than friends at one point...until she got to know Kali, then she became a good friend too. So here she sat....dateless at a wedding... didn't get much lamer than that. She glanced around and spotted the hosted bar....Now THAT was a great idea. She stood up from her seat and was making a beeline for the bar. Waiting in line she adjusted she pale yellow dress that set off her tan skin amazingly..the fabric hugged her skin and showed her great body. She ran her fingers thru her hair, a nervous habit she had always had. As she looked around the croud she spotted some good looking people...none of which she really knew, but she had to admit Ryan and Chole had some attractive friends. She laughed as waited her turn.


Kali needs someone to rescue her from feeling so depressed about being at the wedding solo...let me know if you are interested!!!

Alexander didn't know why he had to come to this stupid wedding anyway. Sure he knew Chole, but only as his sister, Marie's, very good friend. The two girls had been inseperable and since Marie practically thought of her little brother as more of a stuffed toy than a human being, he usually found himself being dragged off into whatever mess they got into. Ryan was a godsend, as now Chole had someone else to spend her time with instead of Marie, giving Alexander a little more breathing room. Still, he never forgave Ryan, or any of Marie and Chole's other friends for mistaking him as Marie's boyfriend. He didn't want to go to this wedding anyway, but like she usually did, Marie twisted his arm. Not physically, like when they were children, but with veiled threats to start vicious rumors online about his sex life. As if she weren't the reason he didn't have a girlfriend, because she clung to him like one! Blackmailed into a wedding. How lame is that?

Since he was 21, he wandered over to the bar. He got in line with a rather pretty girl in a yellow dress. She looked just as thrilled to be there as he did. He noticed her gaze passing over him as she brushed her hair through her hand. Was she flirting with him? Probably not - she looked older than him (probably Marie's age), and besides, she probably had a boyfriend. She was probably just idley looking around. Still, it wouldn't help to have some fun. Alexander put on his best smile, and nodded knowingly at the girl. He tried to act older than he was as he made eye contact with the girl. He hoped he didn't look too dorky or like a creep - if she even noticed him at all.

Blusted...Kali blushe a little as she realized she had been caught staring... She laughed softly and smiled back at the guy.... at least he was good looking. She was sure his girlfriend or date wouldn't have appriciated the little flirtatious smiles they had exchanged, but he was standing in the line alone. He looked a little younger than her but she knew there was a wide spectrum of ages at the wedding. She tried to remember if she knew him or not, she was farily certain she didn't, she would have remembered him. Before she could dwell on him too much it was her turn to order, she stepped forward and ordered her cosmo. As she stepped out of the line she smiled at him again, heading in the general direction of her table.

She noticed him! Alexander took a moment to compose himself and order his drink so he wouldn't look like a smitten school boy getting attention from the cheer captain. The girl seemed to have indicated for him to follow her. Alexander thought he would, at least until the guests had to take thier assigned seats. He stole a glance at Marie. She was already on her 3rd (or 4th?) drink, and soon she'd be too drunk to bother him. He stole after the girl in the yellow dress, trying to look cool and casual.

"Hi," he said as he over took her. "Quite an evening, isn't it?"

Kali was surprised when the guy from the bar line ended up next to her, she smiled, "Yes, yes it is..it all seems to have come together." she smiled and set her drink down, "I'm Kali...I'm a friend of Ryan's from college..."

"I'm Alexander," Alexander said, returning her smile. "I'm - a friend of Chole's - sort of. She's my sister's best friend, and since my sister and I are very close, I got to know Chole to. It's nice to meet you, Kali."

Kali smiles, "Ahh, so you're Marie's brother." laughing she taking a drink from her glass. "Well it's nice to meet you too." shaking her head, "I still can't believe I let Ryan talk me into coming...I was think close to bailing at the last minute." she looks over at him, "Oh Jeez, don't tell them I said that..... I really should be in a better mood....but going to weddings stag makes me feel like an idiot." she smiles at him.

So she didn't have a boyfriend. Alexander got bolder. "Don't worry," he chuckled. "Your secret's safe with me. At least you ended up coming by your own choice. Marie had to practically drag me here. I knew Chole, but not that good. I think Marie just wanted an escort, though it looks like she'll have several by the time the night is out." Marie was drunkenly flirting with some of the male guests. "Guess I'll be on my own tonight. At least I won't have to babysit my drunken big sister."

Kali laughed, "Well thanks, I appriciate it." she smiled at him, "Forced by your sister huh?...wow, thats rough." at least she knew now that she didn't have to watch out for a crazy gf or anything.. she laughed when he pointed out Marie. "Yeah, you'll just have to babysit me if I continue drinking." she winked at him.

Alexander laughed too. "I wouldn't mind that. At least I wouldn't have to put up with being constantly reminded that I'm the baby brother.
"How long have you known Ryan for?"

Kali laughed, wow..she was actually enjoying herself! "I promise not to mention baby brother, or to get too drunk.. I've known Ryan since our Freshman year of college...seems like way longer than that tho."

"I don't remember ever meeting Chole," Alexander said. "I just remember hiding under my bed one day when I learned she was coming to play with my sister one day. I must have been 2 or 3."

Kali laughed, picturing him hiding under his bed, "That bad huh?" she smiled. As dinner was announced Kali glanced back at her table assignment, "Hey, go grab your place card and stick this one in its place." she quickly snatched Ms. Johnson's off her table and handed it to him. She laughed as she saw the confused look on his face as he headed to find his place card. When he returned she smiled, "Hey, if I'm going to be here, might as well enjoy some good company." she gave him a flirty wink as they took their seats. As dinner was being served she motioned towards his actual assigned table, "Do you think your sister even notices she's got a lady in her 90's sitting in your place?"

Alexander was surprised and thrilled by Kali's cleverness and playfulness. He couldn't have done better himself. He glanced over in Marie's direction. She was sitting at her place in a huff, occasionally casting forlorn glances at the best man, whom she'd been heavily flirting with prior to the dinner call.

"I think she has her eyes set on the best man. At least for now, while she can still focus. Do you have any siblings, Kali?"

Kali laughed as she looked over towards the best man, "Matt?...haha, of course she has a thing for Matt." she shook her head before turning her attention back to the table, "Siblings? I have 4. 4 brothers. Two younger and Two older...I fall right in the middle....and you thought having an older sister was bad?....try all brothers and being the only female. I think I lost 90% of my boyfriends due to them." she laughed knowing it was totally true.

Alexander shuddered a bit. That was bad. At least he only had 1 sister. He couldn't have handled another 3.

"Talk about over protective. I was so thrilled when Marie went off to college, but then she wasn't gone for a whole week before she started harassing me again. I already have a mother, and I didn't need another.

"So, what did you study?"

Kali laughed, "Yeah harrassing is what siblings do. I studied sports medicine. How bout you?" she was really enjoying herself, which for some reason surprised her.

"I'm not sure yet," Alexander shrugged. "My parents say I should study business. Marie keeps nagging me to switch to engineering, like her. I'm just doing general studies right now." He hoped Kali wasn't put off by this admission of youth. She looked like a successful young woman. He was still pretty much a boy.

She laughed, "Hey I switched majors twice before settling on the third...I know how it is... enjoy it while you can." she leaned back in her chair, funny she hadn't so much as glanced around since they had started talking. "My mom wanted me to be a teacher... my older brother wanted me to be an architect..." she laughed, "neither of them suited me..so sports med it was." she shook her head. "Just gotta do what makes you happy."

"What would make me happy would be to just drop out of school and find a way to earn money doing something other than retail or manual labor," Alexander said. "So what exactly does a sports med person do?" He wondered if Kali ministered to athletes. With a body like hers, she'd have no trouble attracting the attentions of some studly sports star.

She laughed, shaking her head, "Yeah wouldn't that be nice if that were the way it worked?" You know, my mom asked me that same question...."Right now I work with the football and baseball athletes... I help wrap them, treat injuries, all that type of stuff...ice them after games.... at some point I'd like to move from the college level to the pro level...but gotta start somewhere." she smiled at him. The music had started and for the first time she looked around her...people all seemed to be having a good time. As the next song came on she spots Marie signaling you to go out on the dancefloor with her. Laughing, "I think your sister wants you to dance with her." I gesture to where she is standing, giving you her best older sister look.

"What?" asked Alexander, blatantly ignoring his sister. She was so drunk at the moment, she'd most likely loose interest in a few minutes anyway. "I don't see anything. Or do you mean you'd like to dance?"

Kali laughed, "You know exactly what I said...but if it means I don't have t witness you dancing with your own sister at a wedding, I will dance with you." she smiled as they got up from the table and walked to the dance floor. As they got there a slower number came on and they stepped together. She wrapped her arms around his neck as they danced to the music. Ryan and Chloe appear at one side of them, Ryan laughing and Chloe saying, "OMG! You two are SO cute!!! Ry, why didn't we ever think of that before?!" Ryan rolled his eyes and mouthed "Sorry" to them as he twirled her in a new direction. Kali smiles at him...it did feel nice to be in his arms
