Kali hated that her friends had convinced her to go to their wedding solo. She tried to make an excuse to get her out of having to go, but having been the bride's college roommate for 4yrs she couldn't avoid it. After the ceremony Kali found her table number and scanned the room to see where she had been seated. She spotted table 12 and set her name card down at one of the seats.

She made her way over to the bar and joined the line, no way would she make it thru this night without some alcohol. As she stood in the line she thought back over the events of the last couple of weeks. Her boyfriend of 2yrs had been cheating on her and she had caught him at his office with the girl.... She had tossed his stuff on the front steps when she got home and changed the locks on the doors. It made her laugh a little now to think of his face when he had walked up and seen his things all over the grass....Jerk. He deserved it. She ran her fingers thru her long brown hair and scanned the room for faces she recognized.... there had already been a few people showing their sympathies....She didn't need that. She just needed to have a fun night.... She adjusted her dress. She looked down at it and pulled it to cover her long dancer legs a little more. She couldn't believe the bride, Amy had convinced her THIS was the dress for her! It hit mid thigh and fit her body just right....but it was definatly shorter than what she would normally wear. The silky black fabric felt nice on her skin tho.. "Wow this line is taking forever." she mummbled to herself.

As I looked for my name tag and table number, I happened to glance to my right and noticed a stunning woman in a very attractive dress. I quickly found my way to the bar, as my heart was not really in coming to the wedding alone, as my on again off again so called girlfriend, decided to go to the City for the weekend, at the last minute.
Since it was too late to find or even ask someone else, I decided to come to the wedding to make a token appearance and then I could be on my way.
In glancing back around the room, I no longer can find her, until I turn completely around and see her standing half way back in the long line for the bar. Being next to order I say "a Jack and Coke and a Cosmo and upon getting the drinks, throw a 5 in the tip jar and pick up the drinks.
Approaching you, my heart pounding through my chest, and giving you my best smile say "hello and may I interest you in a Cosmo?" And my name is Charles.

Distracted Kali didn't notice him approach her. When she heard him say hello she looked over at him and smiled. He was a very good looking guy and he was offering her a drink. She smiled, "Hi, and you would be my savior if you're seriously offering me that cosmo." she laughed as she took the drink from him. "Thank you, that was really nice of you.... I'm Kali." She stepped out of the line, taking a sip from the drink, "so are you here for the bride or the groom?" she smiled.

I smile back at you and say "the groom, he is my cousin somewhere along the line. We are not close but it is still one of those functions that you have to attend, or will end being the scourge of the family." But how could someone as beautiful as yourself possibly end up here in a single capacity? We arrive back at your table and I sit in an open chair beside you? "Do you mind as I know I am being much too forward."

Kali laughed nodding her head. "I see.... one of those situations. The bride and I were college roommates for 4yrs...so I couldn't avoid coming either." They made their way back to Kali's table. Go ahead and take a seat...I think that was my "Plus one" seat....They kept thinking I was going to end up bringing someone at the last minute....which obviously, I didn't. I figured it would be easier to make my escape if I was solo." she laughed as she took a seat next to him, taking a drink from the cosmo.

"I know what you mean as I actually have an extra chair across the room at my table. Interestingly enough, I was fully expecting to bring someone, but at the last minute, lets just say "it did not work out." So here I am totally single and unattached. I really only have two loves in my life so far. My law practice and my golf game. "how about you, what is your occupation? And please excuse me for my boldness, but do you have a signifigant other in your life?"

Kali smiled as she listened to him explain his situation. "Well then its my lucky day that I ran into you then." she set her drink down and turned facing him. "I am a athletic trainer... and no. I don't have a significant other."

I laugh lightly and smile at you and say "until I wear out my welcome with you, may I sit here and pretend that you are my date?" And I must say you are without a doubt the most beautiful woman that I have had the pleasure to be out with?" Where are you employed and you do not happen to play golf do you?"

Kali laughed, "I would like you to stay as long as you would like to." she blushed lightly when he complimented her, "Well thank you...Thats very sweet of you to say. I am on staff at the university....and I can play golf....just not very well." she laughed.

"That is the great thing about the game, you can enjoy it at any level. The fresh air, the scenery and the company. There is always something that keeps drawing you back. I happen to be a fairly accomplished player, but if you would give me the honor, I would love to take you to the County Club tomorrow, if you are not already a member and are free tomorrow?"And of course we will just play for the enjoyment of it, so please only enjoy the course and our time together.
