The Winter Lodge

Smiling as I walked over towards Vivica and Steve Weeks. "Yes Indeed I do know what they are." grinning at them both.

It does occur to me that maybe Vivica might find me attractive, but I quickly dismiss it as stupid thought as I hold out my hand to Steve and say " Hello Steve, I'm Nathan... pleased to meet you."

I went on the slopes but before I got to some serious skiing done I was weary.

I did manage to show that I could handle the slope even downhill. I told the teacher that I was returning to the lodge and she asked if I wanted her to radio the lodge.

"No that is okay. I can manage. " I took the lift down and bounced off at the bottom and then skied over to the lodge. Entering quietly and resting on the couch.

I must have drifted off and snored or something as my eyes opened to a worried face. "Hi"

Mark was surprized to see anyone return so early. He had been cleaning up and the soup was on the stove cooking. He had thought he heard the door and now found his young guest on the floor. "Ah hello, what brings you back so early? Thought it was good skiing out there today."

He sat down on the couch by her and looked in her eyes. "Feel like some coco? Feel like talking?"

Vivica

Before Steve had a chance to answer, Jubilee proceeded to load us on to the sled and bring us to the beginner levels ski run. She had asked if I could be used as a demonstration and smiling at Jubilee I responded with, “Of course you can. What would you like me to demonstrate?”

Vivica stood poised and confident as she waited for Jubilee’s response.

"Using the lift, how to board the moving chair while you have your skis on. I was hoping that you could model how easy that it is." I grinned.

Vivica

Smiling back at Jubilee, Vivica swooshed on over to the lift and said, “Ready everybody?” As the chair advanced she kept her back to it, but watched as it came close then closer. Lifting up the poles slightly the bench of the chair hit the back of her thighs and she leaned back, moving her buttocks to a more comfortable position.

Up and off she continued calling out behind her, “Piece of cake…. See you downhill!”

Steve

Steve trudged over to the lift holding his skis. He managed to get on and off it fairly well, then put on his skis and carefully turned so that he was facing downhill.

He was about to push off with his poles, when he started moving downhill. Gravity was to blame. Off balance, Steve landed on his butt. He sat there unsure of how to get up.

"Oh the skiing was great. I just wear out fast." I replied then smiled at his cocoa offer. "oh yes some cocoa would be great. Talking about what though?"

I slowly stood up and looked at my things. "Maybe I should take my stuff to the room."

I reached in my pocket and pulled out my pill bottle and then looked back to the kitchen. Time.. time .. always a time to take them. I sighed as I slid them back in my pocket and looked out the window and wished that I had more energy to keep up with the others.

Mark

"Okay I feel like some as well. Jubilee brought her own stock of stuff but I like store bought stuff just fine." Mark smiled and walked back into the kitchen. He found the cylinder and measured out the amount into two mugs added milk and stirred. He put the mugs in the mircowave and set it for a few minutes.

Mark moved by the door to the kitchen. "Oh I can help you with those bags." He noticed the pill container she was holding. He did not want to pry but asked, "need a glass of water to take those?"

"Actually no, water makes them taste worse. I was hoping that they'll slide down with my cocoa." I gulped hard again. I hated the looks sometimes.

"I'd really like that help with my bags after the cocoa. Then I might rest until lunch." I touched his hand and smiled. He felt kinda nice.

Mark smiled back and held he hand. "No problem that is what I am here for dear." He smiled and went back in the kitchen the coco was ready and he returned with two hot mugs and handed one to his guest. "Cheers," Mark said clicking them together. He looked her body up and down.

"What else can I do for you before lunch?"

I smiled at Steve and offered a hand to aid him getting off the ground and watched as he and Matt managed to get on the lift without further mishap.

I did radio Mark while heading up to check and see if our guest had arrived safely.

Mark

The radio came to life with the sound of Jubilee's voice calling and asking about the guest. Mark picked up the radio and replied, "I am looking at her right now. She having so coco. Just a bit tired. How is it going with all of you? Having a good day? Miss ya"

Steve Weeks

Steve thanked Jubilee for helping him up. He then went to the chair lift (skis on), and started skiing down the slopes. He fell a few times, but was getting the hang of it.

He skied over to Jubilee and said "TaDah!" Her face was flushed a bit from the cold and she looked lovely in her ski apparel. Steve kissed her on the cheek and thanked her for teaching him how to ski.

Vivica

As promised, Vivica kept her eye on Nathan’s skiing. He took a few falls, but overall, he was not bad for a beginner. On the other hand, Vivica’s lack of skiing did not deter her from having a great day. Admittedly, she was a bit rusty, but it took her very little time to get back into the swing of things.

What seemed a few minutes actually turned into several hours of skiing. Soon she grew tired of being out in the cold and Steve’s question on being in the hot tub sounded better and better to her.

Nathan looked worn out and Vivica felt sorry for him.

“Had enough?” she inquired.

Nathan’s impish smile said it all. “Why, can you tell?”

Vivica’s reply was simple, “You look less than fresh. How does that sound?” Nathan had tried very hard to do his best and she would not knock his beginning. “What do you think of the sport? Are you ready to ski again tomorrow?” She had planned to do a lot of it and having a buddy would not only be wise, but as Jubilee said safety in numbers was important.

Mark was back at the lodge with the youngest of the guests. He was right for the rest of the group though. The large half of hero sandwiches were stacked up in the fridge. A few months workign in Subway had paided off. Though all the fixings here were fresher. Soup was on the stove simmering and a pot of Jubilee's coco as well. It smelled good and he hoped she would enjoy the surprize. This job wasn't to bad. Mark headed to the doors to get the young girls bags.

The cocoa hit the spot as I relaxed in the chair. I glanced up and watched Mark take my bags upstairs.

"I'll just take that rest. Would you wake me when the others get in?" I asked meekly as the stairs seemed to wipe my energy slightly.

Mark opened the door to my room and I automatically went and laid down. I didn't even hear him leave the room or shut the door as I drifted into a deeper sleep.

Mark glanced over at the girl and wondered. You had to considering so little tired her out so much. Physically she looked healthy but that was no clear indication. He soon realized he was intruting on the girl and quitely shut the door after noting what number her intercom was in her room. She was pretty.

Mark went back downstiars checked on the food and unclipped the walky-talky from his belt. "Jubiless how is it going up there? every thing going fine? When can I expect you all back? See any polar bears?" He laughed and then released the botton.

Steve Weeks

Steve heard Mark over Jubilee's walkie-talkie. He was talking to her about calling it a day. He thought he was in good shape, but he had muscle aches in muscles he didn't even know he had. Steve really wanted to soak in the hot tub. And he just realized how hungry he was too.

Vivica

Taking her goggles off, she looked around her. This was the most fun she’d had in a long time. Nothing like the wind rushing against your body as you sailed through the air, down the mountain. She’d thought she could do it longer, but the full morning of skiing had plum tuckered Vivica out. She hadn’t used muscles that vigorously in a long while. Most of her days were spent in a small room running dialogue with her co-stars before actually shooting the grueling scenes. This, she knew, was what living meant to be and she knew if it wasn’t for the money she made she wouldn’t be skiing at a fancy lodge either.

“I’m all for calling it a day everyone,” she said aloud.

She looked around at the faces that had formed a semi circle. Everyone seemed to have had his or her fill of skiing, except for Jubilee. She happened to look radiant – all smiles.
Vivica doubted she looked as fresh and lively as Jubilee did, but then again she wasn’t Jubilee’s age either. It never bothered her though. Although Vivica didn’t believe in ‘age is just a number’ crap, she did believe in taking care of her body to the best that she could. That meant days at the spa, massages, facials, etc.

Besides, Vivica was not born yesterday. She knew her acting days were numbered. When new ingénues were being born and/or discovered every minute, she was going to become a has-been in no time.

Her silent reverie was interrupted just then when Nathan said her name.

It was peaceful when I woke with a loud thud. I blinked and then looked to the left... Oh man I fell out of the bed.

I couldn't help but laugh as I slowly got up and noticed the large purple welt that was forming. Well that will smart after a while. I glanced out the window and noticed the soft falling snow and could smell the soup's aroma slowly wafting to my room. Oh that smells devine my tummy rumbled.

Vivica

She smiled at Nathan and nodded in understanding. "Everyone, I am absolutely starving. Why don't we all go back to the Lodge? The day is disappearing and quite frankly, I am pooped."

Stretching her neck this way and that, Vivica could feel how the strain had already built. The hot tub was going to be a definite go as soon as she had something to eat when they returned.

Vivica pulled the hood of her parka off her head and took a deep breath. The air up here was invigorating. Crisp and cool, silent except for the slow hum of the lift that was no more than 20 yards away from them.

Everyone slowly filed their way back to the Lodge's van. It seemed that no words needed to be spoken by anyone because they all felt the same way. She bet some of them felt very sore too, with a grin.

Once back in the van, Jubilee proceeded to take us back to our home away from home. She chatted about the plans she had for us during our stay and I felt myself drift off into a light sleep. It wasn't until Steve nudged me that I noticed we were back at the Lodge.

Nathan helped me from the van by offering his arm. The step down could have been easily completed without his help, but she did think how sweet he was to be a gentleman.

"Last one to the dining room is a rotten egg!" she shouted in glee and briefly wondered what had gotten into her. She never behaved so childishly before or certainly not in the company of adults. Shrugging because she didn't want to dwell on the thought, she ditched her ski gear inside the mouth of the hallway and continued on; following the smell of the wonderful food.

Steve

On the ride back from the slopes, Jubilee was telling the group her plans for the next few days. Most of the group were resting, so they didn't really hear what she was saying. Steve woke Vivica from her quick nap. They slowly drifted out of the van, Nathan helping Vivica, who suddenly shouted, "Last one to the dining room is a rotten egg!" That invigorated them all and they raced to the dining room and the promise of good food and good company.

Steve let Jubilee go ahead of him, so she wouldn't be last. He bowed and shooed her in when they reached the entrance to the dining room. She curtsied, then entered a broad smile on her lips. It looked like this vacation was going to be fun and relaxing, Steve thought as he sat down and joined the others in devouring the soup and sandwiches. Mmmmmmmmmm, this was good, next the hot tub.

I noticed the other guests voices as they were coming inside and decided that it was time to go downstairs and eat.

I slipped on a heavy pair of pants to hide the bruise and then was all smiles as I moved down the staircase. I glanced over at the guy with Jubilee and grinned. Something about him that I found cute and then I saw Mark and had that same gut wrenching feeling.

I was bound to find out more about them both before the night was over.
