The Wolf Pack

Wesley Side:

Heavy drops pelt the men and woman on the training ground. Not truly satisfied with the answer, Wesley decides it best to return to the barracks for now. The rain is merely an inconvinience and Wesley pays it little attention. Months without a roof over his head makes him immune to thinking about the weather so much. Hell, this is why he wears this goofy get-up--it wards off all kinds of weather.

Back in the barracks, he looks around at the other recruits. "So, what do you guys think? Personally, this scares the shit out of me."

Standing in front of a small window, Syife watched dark storm clouds swallow the setting sun. "That was some incredible shit we just witnessed out there." He turned around to face his companions. "I don't know if you understand our situation, though. We've just seen the results of some covert government programm. Obviously, it's not a secret that they'll risk revealing to the masses... I doubt that they'll take no for an answer, if you know what I mean. You'd be surprised how easy it is to make a couple individuals... dissapear."

Yes, running was out of the question now. Even if he did manage to escape, what fate awaited him in the civilian world? How long could he keep running? They'd catch him eventually. And then - a secret military tribunal, charges of treason, swift ruling, the chair, and an unmarked grave somewhere in Alaska... No, he was through running. This was as far as he'd go. "What the hell. I'll do it." he said to no one in particular.

OOC: Sorry guys. A family emergency has come up and I'll be gone till next Saturday. Feel free to write for my character untill I return, and I'll pick up where you left off.

Ian

Ian follows the other men to the barracks. He is quietly in ectasy. This is the way to power such as he has seeked all his life. Never again would he feel the fear of being outmanned in a fight. With his knowledge and experience combined with this unworldly power; there was little he would not be able to do. He would be able to sleep at night again, no longer living in fear of an assassination attempt. Ian's hands shook with excitement as he help open the door.

"I agree that it was all very scary out there on the training field. I almost had to change my underoos for a minute there. I am all for going through with this. I am too worried what would happen to me if I was not willing."

Timorne:

Turning to Hadley after having returned to his quarters, Tim looked her in the eyes. "Well, what do you think? Do you feel that they will join? I'm not so sure about a couple of them..." He said in a low tone as he ran a hand through his hair, water sprayed and dripped from his head. "And do you think they have a chance against the rogue experiments?"

Wesley Side:

"Well, I suppose you're right. May as well take them up on the offer. It's getting late, though and I think I'm going to sleep." Wesley sighs softly. He cannot remember the last time he slept on a real bed. Even the stiff military bunks would be a vast improvment over the cardboard mattress and newspaper sheets.

"One thing that I do know. They ain't killing me tonight. Otherwise, they'd have done it by now." Pulling off the last of his garments, he crawls into the top bunk in the corner of the room. Large barracks for such a small group.

She had watched everything with a slightly amused look in her eyes, but when she saw the look of horror on some of the men's faces she frowned. It brought back memories of when she had first turned, and the sight on her father's face....

"I do not know Tim." She shivered in the rain, "They seem to be smart however, and any smart person knows that they do not see a performance of a Top Secret Program like this one and then be expected to walk away whenever they wish. Aren't most of them Outlaws in their own way with the Government? "

She ran a hand through her hair which was quickly becoming a kinky curled mess, but that was not her concern. She quickly pulled it back out of her face and looked towards the Barracks. "I still get a very uneasy feeling from one or two of them, then again maybe it's because I am the only woman around."

"We will see in the morning, after all they have a choice we did not." She shivered and wrapped her arms around Tim's left arm. "Come on now, the rain is very cold and the Storm is just beginning, we should get inside."

Quinn

Dear God, thought Quinn, he had fought many things in his life, but this tim scared the hell out of him, he had never seen anything like it before in his life. But, somehow he knew taht if he ran it was over for him, it was jsut a feeling he had..... He hopped tomrow whould be better....

Ian

Ian looks over at Wes. "I agree with you, time for some shuteye. They would not kill us unless we were to reveal what happened or if we tried to leave. They went to a lot of trouble to get us all here,so we will doubtless survive the night. Good night to you all. " Ian got out of his wet things and laid his weary bones down on the bed.

Wesley Side:

With some last thoughts about the long day's events, Wesley drifts into a sleep that will undoubtably be filled with nightmares and unrest. When the morning comes, he will wake with the sun as always.

Timorne:

Catching Hadley by the shoulder, Tim turned her about. "Do you regret what you've become?" His eyes were peircing, never had the thought come to him before, that Hadley did not wish to be what she was now. He let go of her shoulder then, but still looked into her eyes.

Henry Gray

Downtown Pittsburgh

Walking down these streets at night wasn't the safest idea but if you wanted information about anything or anyone there was one guy to see, and he lived in the heart of these crime ridden streets. The rain had started to annoy me enough that I had killed a homeless man to take his tattered olive green trench coat. It was either him or someone else.

I had arrived at my informant, Kelso's place. I knocked on the heavy metal door, waiting for him to answer his damn door. Then, like something out of a fairy tale, the wall spoke. "--Who the fuck is it?" Startled I turned around but didn't see anyone around, who the hell was talking to me? I rang the buzzer again. "I said who the fuck is it!! Speak before I come down there and cap your ass!." I looked around again and whispered outloud, "Henry Grey." "Louder I can't hear you through this damn thing." "HENRY GREY!!!" I heard the tone of disgust in the wall's voice. "Alright come in. I'm in the apartment at the top of the stairs"

A loud buzzing noise cut through the sound of falling rain and awakened every primal sense in my head. I grasped my ears tight as I leapt backwards, expecting to hear an explosion. When nothing happened the wall spoke again, "When I ring the buzzer, open the door idiot!" As I approached the door I spoke outloud again, "Ok sorry." The buzz returned again, again piercing though my skull. Walking up the stairs, the smell of urine was present in the air. I reached the door and knocked. "Come in Grey."

Walking into the apartment, I was immediatly greeted by an AK-47 pointed directly at me, held by the dreadlocked stockey Jamacian known as Kelso. "Don't make any sudden moves, Grey. Last time you were hear you beheaded a hoe." "I remember she just kept talking and talking." "Yeah well I was the guy in hot water with her man! Sit down and try to act civilized!" Kelso obvisouly knew I wouldn't dare kill him, he's all too valuable to me. I took a seat in an old easy chair, held togethor by bands of duct tape that seemed to flow with the plaid pattern. "Sorry about the door Kelso." "No problem man, I know you forget about how to live in the real world every now and then. So what the fuck you want?" "I need you to get me of every major land purchase by the government in the past five years." "Government huh? Sounds like you're getting into some deep shit. I could get some serious jail time if they trace this stuff back to me." "If I get caught I'll never talk." "I know man, you've got that crazy marine training in ya, that's why I know you're straight with me." I watched as he paced around the room, scratching his beard as he thought about my request.

"I would usually do this for 50gs but since you don't have any cash you're going to have to do a job for me first." "What Kelso?" The jamician scrawled something on a piece of paper and handed it to Henry. "The person at this house been stealing from me for years, time to take care of them for me." "No problem, you just get that information for me." "Will do Grey, and one more thing, take a damn bath before you come back in here!!" As the door slammed I punched the wall, adding another hole that has been put in the plaster of this hallway by me. After I got those locations though, I wouldn't need that worm anymore. I'll take care of him later, but for now I have a job to do.

Hadley's features went soft and she laid her head on Tim's shoulder. "You and I both know how hard it was to learn control, you and I both know what it was like to see millions of failures then end up being the firsts. I am not regreting that fact that what happened to me helped to launch my father's dream. However I still ever so slightly feel robbed of what could have been. We are still learning every day who we are Tim, it is a life time of research that will probably not be completed until our life is over with."

She sighed hugged him and turned to go to her quarters," I don't regret becoming who I am, I just regret that I did not have the time to be who I was before this." She smiled warmly at him and then disappeared behind the oakwood door of her room.

Ian

Ian tried to sleep, but spent a night tossing and turning. He had dreams where all the people around him changed to beasts. Then his body went through the change also. The pain was excruciating, even in the dream. He woke up in a cold sweat. He reached over and lit up a cigarette. The smoke whafting through the air as Ian looked at the ceiling; the sun slowly rising to shine its light through the barrack windows.

Wesley Side:

Sitting Indian-style on his bunk, Wesley watches the others toss in their unrestful slumber. Finally, Ian wakes up to grab a cigarette. "Morning Ian. It feels like it's almost six. Should we wake Syife and Quinn? Do you have a watch?"

Ian

Ian look over at Wes "Good morning yourself. Lets wake them up, I am sure they are as anxious as we are to see what our hosts have in store for us today. My watch says that it is 5:50 am, good time sense. Would you like a cigarette? This may be our last for a while, so live it up." Ian moves over and wakes up Syife. "Come on lazy bones, there is no sleep that will cure the curiousity that you must feel. "

Syife looks at Ian, " Very true, I was not able to sleep much, kept seeing that scene from last night run over and over in my mind."
Ian looks over and sees that Wes is waking up Quinn.

Timorne:

After Hadley retired to her quarters, Timorne gave himself over to the beast itching just under his tightly honed control, and ran, ran for nearly three hours. He knew if he didn't, the unatural kiss of the moondust in his blood had a very real chance of robbing him of his control. Taking the dust, it was like taking a hit of every sort of drug mankind has at its disposal, all at once, euphoria, the sharp acid like feel of adreniline, it was the nearest a mortal being could get to being a god in his own right.

At 0520 hours, he returned to his quarters, dried himself and dressed. He went to Hadley's door and knocked. "Hadley, its 0535 hours, rise and shine!" He called to her through the door then turned and strode away. As he made his way out, he took up two pill bottles, one with a red label, one marked blue. Finally he stood in the middle of the training feild, awaiting the potential recruits arrivals.

She tossed and turned in her sleep, she just had an eerie feeling she could not shake. She had heard Tim returning from whatever work out he had to give him self and slowly made her way out of bed and to her shower. It didn't take her long to shower, and make up was not an issue with her, she had a natural beauty that was only enhanced with a tube of red lipstick. She pulled on a sports bra, then a tank top over it, and pulled on some jogging pants. Down in the hills it was somewhat cold this early in the morning but she needed to exercise and that would warm her up. She hoped the men would be able to adjust to their surroundings as well as the vigorous training they would be receiving. She pulled her curls back into a pony tail and slipped her feet into her running shoes, today would be a interesting day...many shows to display abilities.

Wesley Side:

Wesley finally resorts to shaking the soundly-sleeping Quinn. "Come on man, it's time to see what those wackos have in store for us." Convinced that Quinn moaning means he's awake, Wesley puts on his hat and moccosins and looks at the three others, "Let's go. I don't want to be late if those monsters are counting roll." As he turns to walk out the door, he sees Syife start to follow him and a waking Quinn start to dress.

Timorne:

Lighting a cigar Timorne lifted his head as he took his first puff, seeing the men come walking out of the barracks. "Morn'n men." He looked past the first few and gave a small nod as he waited for the rest to show. Looking to his right, Hadley was already standing at the ready. He smiled around his cigar, taking in a deep breath as he looked her over. Finally he returned his gaze to the men. "Have you all come to a dicision?" He reached into a deep pocket and pulled out the pill containers.

Ian

"I am not sure about the others, but I have nothing to lose by going through with this. I have lost most of my family and friends, so I have nothing left. What do I have to do ? " Ian looks over at the Agent , waiting for further instructions.

Syife Marauder

Yawning as the final shreds of sleep fled his body, Syife came to a stop and met the agent's gaze.

"Yeah, count me in. Oh yes, before I forget-" he fished around in his coat pocket before producing a small piece of paper. "Here's the routing number for a bank account. I'll give you a figure later. It ain't going to be too much, just enough to cover living expenses and maybe a little extra for any risk associated with this, er... endeavor."

Wesley Side:

Wesley, like the rest of the crew, wants to know what is next. However, unlike the others, he remains silent, watching the agent, but not speaking.

Timorne:

Lifting two pill bottles between his fingers, Timorne looks pointedly around the men. "Typical routine, red, you're in, blue takes you back to kansas." He said with a touch of humor in his voice. Setting them down at his feet, he stepped back. "Its got to be by your own hands that you chose..." He added as he stood next to Hadley.

Hadley suppresses a giggle by Tim's humor regarding the pills and watches as the men take their future into their own hands. She shivered and glanced around, she still could not shake that eerie feeling. What was it?

Ian

Ian gives a short snort at the attempted humor of the agent. This was a very tense situation. Ian could feel that the men with him were as confused as he was. Ian decided to take the plunge and be the first. He picked up the red bottle, emptying a pill into his large hand. He looked up at the heavens, said a quick prayer and swallowed the pill. He turned to his compatriots, "Anyone else want to do some reds with me? "
