The Younger Crowd

Well, here it is, Monday night...I've got about half of my paper done. It's due Wednesday. I feel so unmotivated, but I gotta turn in something. Something that would be at least enough for me to get a passing grade for I don't want to have to redo this in the fall....

So how's everyone else's evening?
Looooooong. And annoying.

What's your paper on? What class?

Yeah, I'm a total freak ... I looooove writing papers. My forte, and all. I never write them 'til the night before, though. Pressure's my strongest moment.

I'm the same, at least with the pressure issue. I always tell myself to start my medical ethics essay exams a day or so after it's handed out, but nooo, I never know where to start, so I stay up till 4 AM stressed out and burnt out, sleep till 7 and finish is till it's due at 9:30. And I somehow manage to get As and ABs on them. Go figure.

Now sugar, you're talking to a girl who's never studied (for school) a day in her life, and has never made below an 85 on ANY paper, EVER. I'm waiting for the BIG crash and burn, like ... not remembering that my paper's due on Friday, missing it, and then not being able to argue my way out of it (I'm good at that, lol).

You're taking medical ethics? That sounds like so much fun. I've taken nearly every philosophy course offered at my (former) university, including ethics, and we just barely touched on medical ethics, but it REALLY interested me.

Its good to meet someone that thinks the same way I do. I've never studied in my life, I really don't know how. When I was engineering i would wait up late at night talking or screwing around and then start a porject (due at 8 the next day) at around 4 or so. Why is it that us young freaks manage to do so well, but can't at the same time? How many people here have switched majors at least once?

I don't think I'd be caught dead taking another philosophy course, even though this one is interesting. My roomie and a friend of mine both took intro phil, and I don't think I want an exam to be based only on whether or not I can prove that I exist. I figured that taking a medical ethics course would be good since if I am ever lucky enough to become a doctor, I'll have to face a few of them. That and I find it interesting to hear the various arguments on abortion. I'm pro-choice, but there are some crazy arguments, both pro-life and pro-choice. Oh, and the guy who's making the bioethical decisions for our country at the moment is a lunatic (read one of his articles on gene therapy and cloning), at least in my left-sided opinion.

I'm in shock. I'm stuttering. Or I would be, if I was actually speaking out loud.

YOU CAN'T PROVE YOU EXIST??? WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?

Okay, maybe I'm kidding. Philosophy's an acquired taste. As I mentioned before, I majored in it, TWICE, lol.

Well, it's because they were starting to have all these doubts because of all the Socrates and Aristotle and such they had to read. The class seemed like it was a "do we really exist?" class.
I'm really into psych right now, though. Maybe if I actually get around to doing departmental honors in it, I can do the study on men and penis size that I thought of during another exciting discussion on whether it matters or not on the How To board. I think it would be fun...and if I got to measure them myself, well that would be an added bonus. :p

LMAO You win funniest comment of my day. Best of luck with all that.
Haha, glad to make your day better. Yeah, I doubt the Psych department would really approve of that study, and I'm not sure how med schools would receive it during interviews.

"So, we see that you did a thesis paper in psychology. Tell us more about it."
-"Well, guys are always so anxious about their penis size, so I wanted to find out more about related personalities and perceptions within an social atmosphere. It was very eye opening to see all of the different sizes and shapes of penis."
"Oh, well, we must read it, it sounds interesting."

:p

I have two papers due Wednesday. A ~5page single spaced paper on Saturn's moon Titan and why it could be a candidate for extraterrestrial life (cool topic, but I doubt I'll be able to write 5 pages of interesting crap).

Then there's my ~30 page (anywhere from 20-40) double spaced paper on BIMA and Interstellar Medium. This one is a requirement for me to graduate and I really don't give a damn about BIMA (but my school is the 'I' in BIMA, so it's kinda important). I probably should have put it off until the Fall, but I thought that now would be the best time.

If I'm still alive by Wednesday....bring me food!

I went from Chemical Engineer to Mathematics to Astronomy. I was more or less running away from hard work only to find harder still. But I really do love Astronomy. I just dislike the 30 page paper that came with it (I'll be impressed if I break the 15 page mark).

You're right. That sounds like a very unlikely prospect.

Okay, good news, everyone. At least for me. I just got off the phone with my old algebra professor who absolutely adores me, and he's been giving me glowing recommendations for at least THREE companies since yesterday. Which means, (a) he still thinks I'm kickass, and (b) the firms I've been looking at are interested in me. Yay! Maggie needs money.

Welcome back, pewdnet - hope you had fun?

Vay, I don't understand half the words in the post explaining your paper, so ... wow, best of luck, and if you get that stuff, you rock. And now I'm feeling dumb, so I'm gonna go get a science encyclopedia or whatever and leaf through it while I'm sitting here.

If you're really interested, look up stuff about Titan. It's in our solar system, which gives it a bit of a downhome feeling.

(No, I'm not trying to get you to do my paper for me. Honest!);)

Wait. You said "Honest!" and then did the wink. I'm unclear on the situation now. LOL

I'm just really not a science-oriented person. I mean, I majored in philosophy for awhile. I'm the arguing "what if" kind of person, not the kind that can remember elements from the periodic thingie.

But really, let me know how it's goin', so I can cheer you on, lol.

I haven't memorized the periodic table;) But I really don't care too much about the "what if's" either. I'm in this astronomy gig because I love teaching people about the night sky. I like showing people cool stuff with my 12" (and only in astronomy can you say that and not get any weird looks;) )

Sadly, I don't care about these papers, but I gotta do 'em so I can get my degree eventually and do what I really wanna do....MAKE ASTRO PORN! LOL!:D

Wait, so does that mean, like, hot alien love and all that? I'm not exactly sure what that entails, so I'll just smile and nod and say, "Yeah, that gets me all hot and bothered."

LOL Well then, memorize that damn chart thingie! No ... hold on ... write the paper first.

OMG I am sooooo burnt right now. I usually spend thirty minutes on my stomach and 30 on my back when I'm tanning by the pool, but today I used some tanning oil that was lost for awhile ... and didn't think to spend less time. Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. *reaching for the mouse* ACK!!

LMAO! Is that your default response?

Um. Yeah. Try everything once, right?

And some things more than once. ;)

However, I don't know about that alien kinky porn. Mine would have strictly humans under the stars. And perhaps a blanket, just in case it gets cold.

There are exceptions to EVERY rule.

I'm sure accomodations can be made...
