Theater

Eponine, Les Miserables ????

:p

Ready to roll, CB!

Great question! I love theater and have done some amateur acting.

Two roles that I would love to play are Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof and the crooked tavern owner in Les Miz.

Well, when you say it like that..........

:p

I've wanted to play Lenny in "Of Mice And Men" since I was twelve. Also, King Henry in "Beckett" would be great.....

Musicals: The title role in "Sweeney Todd" and Marcellus Washburn or one of the Barbershop Quartet in "The Music Man"

Nigel

In junior high school, I tried out for the role of Pitti-Sing in The Mikado, but got bumped to the chorus by a girl with a better voice. So even though it's a bit part, I think I'd still like to be Pitti-Sing.

Rosencrantz or Guildenstern... in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead

Or Tommy.. in Tommy

Good Pick.

Thanks, now if only I could find a casting director...

Yooo hoo! Sir! "A man, breaking his journey at between two places at a third place of no name or consequence sees- a Unicorn cross his path and dissapear...." :)

If I could sing better Tommy'd be more realistic :) Hey, when he's younger that part can be done by anybody vocally :D

For those of you wondering where the hell this thread came from, I was just informed that I made the cast for The Vagina Monologues, it's showing on campus this February as part of the Vday-Victory over Violence campaign. I'm loving it. B thinks I'm a little wierd.:)

Congrats. But what will your parents say? If they're as traditional as you say, I can't imagine mom jumping up and down excited that little CB is part of the cast of something called "The Vagina Monologues." Sounds like one more thing to add stress to your life.

Congratulations, CelestialBody!

You must be very excited. I have heard so many wonderful things about this show. Some friends of mine saw it and raved about it for days. I'm sorry I didn't get to see it.

Please keep us posted on how you do. We'd all love to hear about it.

Casting Call.

First off, congratulations!!

I've actually done a small bit of community theater. I was an extra in Guys and Dolls (and understudied for Big Jule), and have done pits for a dozen shows or so.

The roles I'd love are:

Nathan Detroit or Nice Nicely Johnson - Guys and Dolls
Judas Iscariot - Jesus Christ Superstar (though I have the vocal range for Pilate or Caiaphas)
Mordred - Camelot (Fie on Goodness!!)
Marcus Licus - Something Funny Happened on the way to the Forum.
Sancho Panza - Man of La Mancha.

I make a great stage sidekick, or sidevillain. I'd also dealy love to have been in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, though I know it was a movie. ;)

Maria is the role for you......

Fantastic question.

I would love to play the Baroness in "Sound of Music" (ice princess), or the narrator in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat", or...

There are so many other roles I would love to play. I can't think of them all right now.

The Baroness? Nope, you're WAY too passionate and feeling for that role. I kinda see you in the role of Maria teaching the captain a few new lusty tunes! ;)

Phantom

I want to be the Phantom of the Opera!

I would LOVE to play the role of the Phantom of the Opera, my favorite musical. Now, if I could carry a tune that didn't make the neighborhood dogs howl, I'd have it made! :D

Phantom.

Congratulations!!!

Ohhh, how fun!!!

Once the acting bug bites, it never ever leaves your system...

Roles I would love? Hmmmmmm....

The Merry Widow - Anna Glawari--(I've been in this one twice as a Grizette, but never the lead)

Jesus Christ Superstar - Mary Magdelene--actually, I'd just love to be in this one, period

Crime of the Heart - Lenny - actually, I was cast in this role years ago, but at our first dress rehearsal, we were informed that the dinner theatre had been sold, so no performances--bummmmmer--but I may have an opportunity to audition for it again, soon...

Camelot - Guinevere

There's more, I know--every actress, especially of the soprano persuasion, wants to do every lead, in everything...

BTW, how many sopranos does it take to screw in a light bulb?

12.

One to screw it in, the other 11 to stand around and say, "I could have done it better..."

This joke also works very well with tenors, too.

Now starring in "Triple Espresso"

The magician character, I wish I recalled his name. He had me laughing so hard I nearly had to leave the theater. It's a great show. I don't know where else it's playing, but if you're in Mpls/St.Paul you owe it to yourself to go see this at the Music Box before the run ends sometime in January.

Congratulations, CelestialBody!!

Break a leg in February! I haven't done a play in about 4 years, and I miss the theatre desperately. I'm a bit jealous.....

Oooh - thanks JazzMan - I'd forgotten about Nicely Nicely Johnson in Guys and Dolls.... I played Big Jule WAY back when....and REALLY wanted to play Nicely......

Nigel

CB, congratulations on the "Vagina"! (For those of you who didn't read the first page of this thread -- LOL).

There are many roles I never got a chance to play. Barry ("Talk Radio"), J. Pierpont Finch ("How to Succeed..."), Chris ("I am a Camera"), Estragon ("Waiting for Godot"), Barnum, Petruchio, and on and on.

I once wanted to play in "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead", but now all I want to do is direct it. That play is a dream for a director with a vision.

I like the Tavern Keeper in "Les Miz", ("Master of the House" is a hell of a lot of fun to sing). I saw the show before it opened on Broadway because I had a friend in the chorus (she's on the cast album). After a year she moved up to play Eponine, and later Cosette, which was her dream role (though I prefer Eponine's songs).

I'd love to play Freddy in "Chess", but I haven't got anywhere near the voice for it.

But, I think King Henry would be my dream role. To tackle the St. Crispin's Day speech, just once...just once...

Hey, DCL, ol' Buddy, ol' Pall.... A man breaking his journey from one place to another at a third place of no name of signigance sees a Unicorn cross his path and dissapear......

Roles

I've played Hotspur in Henry IV Part 1, The Gatekeper in MacBeth, Horatio in Hamlet, both Oscar and Felix in the odd Couple, Danny in Sexual Perversity in Chicago, Yossarian in Catch-22, Ensign Pulver in Mr. Roberts and Pilate in Jesus Christ Superstar.

The most fun was Pilate, "Who IS this broken man, cluttering up my hallway. Who IS this un-fortun-ate?" - Although I DID get to do a bedroom scene in Perversity. Too bad she was a bitch in real life.

The one I'm proudest of was Hotspur.

I would love to play Jean Valjean in Les Mis.

And no, I'm not an actor. The above were all amature productions.

I did some theater in college, I was Reno Sweeny in "Anything Goes" and Anita in "West Side Story".

I would love to be just about anyone in Cats.
