Jules sat in his comfortable office chair going over the notes for his previous client. He had upped his dose of Abilify for his depression to twenty milligrams. His Mac Book was open as he edited his notes.

His office was painted a calming blue and overlooked a oak red with autumn leaves. It reminded him of Tommy, his late son, add pushing him on the tree swing. These days the memories were less painful, though his divorce was still fresh in his heart.

His editing done, he leaned back his chair and sighed. He was a tall, broad shouldered man with tousled black hair, tan skin and spectacles, the product of a white father and a Mexican mother. He sat up, straightened his red tie, and slipped his tan sit jacket back on.

He kept working to help him cope with his son's accidental drowning and the resulting divorce. It did not always help though. He had dealt with the grief of a young life cut tragically short, but his young marriage had ended also. Losing his best friend and lover had been a soul crushing blow. He knew soldiering on might be foolish, but what else was there to do?

He touched the intercom on his desk. "Send in the next patient, Martha."

"Yes Dr. Henderson," came the nasally reply.

The heavy oak door opened and his newest patient entered.

Elizabeth Montgomery was a strong, independant modern women. She rarely relied on others as she found this to be a waste of her precious time. She never requested help in any shape, way or form, nor did she accept any when it was offered.

She stood about 5"7. Her hair hung in golden ringlets cascading down over her shoulders. Elizabeth wore her make up heavier than she should, it was her mask, nobody could see the real her or any weakness. She was aware that over the years her stomach had become a little plumper then she would have liked, but not overly so. Her breasts were small and round, perfectly proportioned to her frame. The cream blouse she wore emphasised them well. Elizabeth's long slender legs were encased in silk, a navy blue pencil skirt skimmed the tops of her knees. She was clearly a woman of taste, intelligence and class

Elizabeth stumbled forward into Dr Henderson's office, cursing softly under her breath at her own stupidity and nervousness. She did not want to be here, she felt that sitting talking about situations that should of been kept buried was tedious and pointless. Never the less she had promised to try and that is what this one and only session would be about.

Gaining her composure, Elizabeth saundered over to the desk, seating herself in the chair opposite. Her arms folded across her chest and with her legs crossed she glanced icily at Dr Henderson.

The first thing he noticed as he gaze swept from her head dow n over, was that behind those icy blue eyes was a world of pain, of secret torment that held him captivated. The first glimpse of vulnerability that he had seen and perhaps his last.

"Good morning Ms. Montgomery. I am Dr. Henderson. Please take a seat where ever you wish." Besides his desk chair and the couch, there were a number of comfortable chairs. He had seen the look of vulnerability and watched it pass. Inwardly he sighed.

"Would you care for a cup of tea? I have regular and herbal." His scent was pure midwestern United Stated, though his office was about an hour north of New York City. After the divorce a move had been in order.

Outside his big window was the little town of Aaron's Mill, population ten thousand. A yellow school bus drive past. "Would you like the blinds closed or open?"

"The blinds don't bother me, your preference is fine," she replies coldly in her English accent "I will pass on the offer of tea as I do hope this won't take very long and then we can both be on our way without wasting anymore of one anothers time."
Elizabeth stiffened in the chair, her anxiety growing, she hated these offices. She crossed and uncrossed her legs, twisting her hands in her lap. She felt like Dr Henderson's gaze was burning through her, seeing her deepest darkest secrets. She shifted uncomfortably, letting out a long sigh.

Jules sighed inwardly, again. She was a tough cookie, to be sure. The first rule of psychology, at least in his mind, was to establish a contract and a rapport with the client. Neither of those things seemed as if they were going to be easy. He decided to leave the blinds open, hoping the sight of children walking to school might soften her demeanor a tad.

He walked across the room and sat in a chair across from her. "O.K., we will get right to it then. How may I be of assistance?"

"To be quite honest Dr Henderson, I don't think you can. It was my husband, sorry soon to be ex-husband who suggested this," her voice softens, the coldness in her eyes melts a little, her body sags into the chair. "He believes that there is something wrong with me mentally, purely on the basis that I have reoccurring nightmares and I also refuse to do what he wants. He believes that over the last few years I have become a different person, I no longer comply with every decision he makes nor do I massage his ego."
She gazes out the window, watching the children playing, so innocent and carefree. Listening to their laughs and constant chatter. She swallows a gulp, trying to hold back the tears that fill her eyes, threatening to fall.
"So as you can see Dr Henderson, I really don't think I should be here."
