One of my family members knocked over a candle of mine and now there is wax everywhere. i have wax on my blinds, comforter, side table, carpet, wall, books...everywhere.

Does anyone know how to get wax off without scraping? (i don't want to chip the paint on my side table)

Does anyone know how to get the waxy residue off after i'm done scraping the things that i can?

Does anyone know if putting my comforter in the washer or dryer will ruin them or the comforter itself? If so, what else can i do?

Last Christmas there was wax from candles on my tablecloth. I washed it in the machine and some of the wax was still there afterwards. But then I put the tablecloth in the dryer and after that the wax was all gone.

The idea with getting wax off of surfaces again is to re-heat it. An iron and some kitchenpaper may work, but not for surfaces that can't stand that kind of heat. I would say take a kitchentowel and soak it in very hot water. Lay the towel over the wax on the table. Once the wax is softened by the warmth, scratch it off gently with the back (blunt) side of a knife. Don't put too much pressure on the knife; it should come off rather quickly like that.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. Time to go shopping for kitchen paper.

*looks at the huge splatters of wax on the wall and sighs* This is going to be a long job.

Good luck.... hardest part (for the wallpaper mostly) might be the residue of the colour of the wax. Red is terrible....

Put some kitchen paper over the wax, iron over it and wait for the pop/sizzle. Remove kitchen paper, voila! It's very satisfying

A hairdryer is is also useful for heating/liquifying the wax so it can be soaked up by Kraft Paper, newsprint (NOT newspapers, the ink will cause stains) or a paper-towel.

I used to clean the church and often had to remove candle wax from the carpets. I used brown paper and an iron as has been suggested above. It was almost 100% effective.

Wow I can't believe so many people know so many techniques for removing wax.

Thanks everyone. i STILL have to go get that kitchen paper. Busy, busy, busy.

Rather than use a knife, you may have better luck with a plastic spatula, or something resembling a credit card
