They never give up

None of that is needed. No one is out to get me. No one is following me. No one starts a fight with me ever. I'm just completely paranoid for no reason.

Are you sure? It's not paranoia if they're really out to get you.

On the other hand, maybe it's mild agoraphobia.

I used to smoke occasionally when I was a student. The illegality of it became an issue when I became an employee (back then, if I got caught my career was over).
It was a pleasurable high.
The only time I've gotten high since was when a "friend" thought it'd be funny to feed the straight girl a serious hash cookie, without my prior knowledge.
The paranoia that went with that high was ugly.

It depends on what your smoking. Different types of weed have different effects. Strains that are heavy on the sativa make you lively and chatty, indico strains dope you out. Some mess up your sense of balance. Others make you super productive.

Usually, though, you get a mild sense of euphoria, and feel relaxed. It can take about 20 minutes to kick in if you smoke it, longer if you eat it.

I'm a creative stoner - I smoke just enough to get absorbed in some artistic project, then stop. Other stoners smoke to get absolutely off their faces.

When you've overindulged you don't have the energy to move. Sometimes you get the spins and feel the blood draining from your face. In extreme cases you can break out into a cold sweat, because your blood pressure drops. Worst case scenario is that you either throw up or pass out. Either way, it's nowhere near as severe as overindulging on alcohol, and it passes in about 20 minutes.

Weed also gives you the munchies... and the other effect is extreme horniness. At least it is with me, anyway  Smoking during the day is lethal for me, because it turns me into a 6-8 a day girl, which means I'm maybe not as productive as I should be.

Getting the giggles is another cool side effect. Seeing something really bizarre can send you into fits of laughter for a long time. As you start coming down it's really easy to become absorbed in something and lose all track of time.

There's also the stoner's timewarp. Sometimes you think that hours and hours have passed, when really it's only about 20 minutes.

Does that answer your question?

That should be a smiley face, dammit!

I thought that was fear of open spaces? I don't have that. I have a fear of people I don't know

The stuff I smoked as a kid, compared with the stuff kids smoke now, is like beer compared to whisky. It's like kids are drinking a couple of bottles of whisky everyday. I can easily believe that it fucks up your head.

It does. There was a good series on drug about drugs, especially pot. It's not the benign drug we want to believe it is.

ETA: *toke* I mean on tv, dude. *exhale*

That's xenophobia.

Technically, fear of the marketplace but I was thinking more of fear of crowds. I'll look it up.

from medlineplus.gov

"Agoraphobia is a type of anxiety disorder related to fear. With agoraphobia, you fear being in places where it may be difficult or embarrassing to get out quickly or where you may have a panic attack and can't get help. Because of your fears, you avoid places where you think you may have a panic attack or panic-like symptoms.

People with agoraphobia often have a hard time feeling safe in any public place, especially places where crowds gather. Commonly feared places and situations are elevators, sporting events, lines, bridges, public transportation, driving, shopping malls and airplanes. The fears can be so overwhelming that some people are essentially trapped in their own homes — it's the only place they feel truly safe, so they don't venture out into public at all."

I was thinking more of general anxiety in crowds but Starrkers might have it with xenophobia.

I don't like the approach of the article, but at the same time, even though I'm probably the biggest space cadet of the AH, I have to admit that there's a grain of truth in it.
I think you're going to have to fight me for that title ;)

What is it like to smoke pot?...or to smoke in general?

Smoking pot is like having that really cold beer at the end of a really hot day...It's very relaxing, entrancing and hypnotic. The effects vary as others have mentioned but really it's just another drug of choice. Some people prefer the buzz you get from alcohol, others the mellow high of weed.

Smoking in general is amazingly wonderful. Especially when you haven't had one in a long time. That first drag from a freshly lit cigarette and it's like you can feel your lungs for the first time. The exhalation is almost a spiritual purging of tension and anxiety. Your heart rate slows and you can finally relax.

The real true beauty of smoking is that something so wonderful, pleasing and calming will just kill you dead. A long, slow, painful, and torturous death.

Maybe I'll quit tomorrow.

That article was interesting. My grandma is a Paranoid Schizophrenic, and she's heavily medicated so she can function on a day to day basis. If she wasnt, she'd be in a group home. I cannot even half way imagine her getting stoned, lol. She's bad enough as it is.

I guess it depends what kind and how much.. I've had friends that it totally calms down.. Opening their eyes is a difficult process, lol. Then others, they're freakin out man, lol.
The last time I smoked it was either really really good shit, or I'm not used to it, lol. (It was actually a little bit of both, hehe.:D) But I took a few hits off a joint.. then a few more. Nothing. Dammit. Oh well.
And it fuckin hurts, lol. It's okay going in, but hurts like hell coming back out. It felt like my lungs were going to cave in. I wasn't diggin' that. So I started holding it in as long as possible, so barely any smoke came back out. :D I doubt that's a good idea, hehe.
About 10 minutes later I started feeling floaty. And then I started giggling. And proceeded to announce, "Hehe. I think I'm stoned. Hehe."
I was giddy and goofy for a little bit, then my chest started feeling funny... like someone was sitting on it- like my lungs were trying to escape through my back. It wasn't painful, it was just.. gravity man. LOL. :p
Then it felt like my heart was going in slow-mo, pounding in my ears... and my internal organs felt like they were floating around, rearranging themselves.
Then I started freaking out about my heart pounding in my ears- (because of my high blood pressure, I pay close attention.) Then I started getting paranoid, afraid my lungs were going to explode along with my heart.. maybe my heart would keep slowing down gradually then stop... Then my adrenaline started to pump, and I was about to literally have a panic attack.
I had to sit there and talk to myself in my brain... 'it's okay. My heart is not going to stop. You're freakin out man. Calm it down.' So after I mentally talked to myself, I started giggling again, and hoped like hell I was right, lol.
Drugs are bad, m'kay? LOL.
Maybe I shoulda stopped after a couple hits, not most of a joint, hehe. :p
I gotta stay away from the 'dro, lol. :p:D

Am I the only here who doesn't smoke at all? Even cigarettes?

And why hasn't anyone answered me what it's like to smoke?
