1. Donald Trump wasn’t shot.
2. There was no genocide in Gaza.
3. AI is a massive bubble that’s gonna pop.
4. A lot of people are really gullible.

1. Donald Trump wasn’t shot.

DonOld was nicked by… “something” - at best.

😑

2. There was no genocide in Gaza.

Heavy handed retaliation for 10/7, and a rather… heavy handed elimination of Hamas’ terrorist infrastructure - at worst.

😑

3. AI is a massive bubble that’s gonna pop.

Potentially the biggest bubble ever - at best.

😑

4. A lot of people are really gullible.

A lot of dumb, gullible people got access to the internet and suddenly became "smart" (artificial intelligence?) - and those dumb people were convinced by grifters & charlatans that they were "more smart" than ACTUAL smart people

😑

WE. TOLD. THEM. SO.

What does popping mean? You think it is going away? Not a chance.
AI usage is currently being subsidized by massive infusions of venture capital. It has no roadmap to profitability. When the VC runs out and people have to pay what it really costs, usage will crash.

For many specialized use cases the compute power can be localized and shrunk. Trying to be one AI with all the knowledge in the universe available to any human query or interaction 24/7 requires massive data centers.

So my prediction is AI will scale to its eventual most useful size. Not pop, but inflate to the right size.

The response from AI is "confidence isn't evidence"

1) May or may not be true. Either way, it doesn't matter. It won't change how anyone sees Trump and his policies
2) The UN disagrees. But what you call it doesn't matter. What Israel has done/is still doing to thousands of innocent civilians is an inhumane atrocity and should never have happened. Hiding behind a word doesn't change this
3) Maybe it will pop, maybe it will fizzle. It won't keep growing like this forever, but it is here to stay. Some will win, some will lose. Survival of the most adaptable :)
4) Definitely

The war in Gaza would never have happened if Gaza hadn’t attacked Israel 3 years ago. All those people would still be alive.

So you’re predicting there will no longer be a push to build more data centers and the demand for specialized chips will drop?

🤔

Some economists (few if any economists argue an AI bubble doesn’t exist) argue that the AI bubble is localized due to the fairly small number of big players doing the lion’s share of the investing, so they believe the damage done to the economy (domestic and global) when it DOES pop will be localized to a certain extent. I agree with other economists who argue that everything is interconnected these days, so the damage done will be widespread. Meanwhile, the timing of this MASSIVE bubble popping is also problematic, as we are entering the peak of the boomer retirement window. Wealthy boomers have been floating the U.S. economy for some time now, and a pullback on their (our) part when it comes to spending, due to a major hit to 401ks etc, would ripple through the domestic and global economy): Let us NOT forget that the U.S. economy is largely based on consumer spending.

And “oh, by the way”, have you seen the amount of credit card debt consumers are currently carrying???

🤔

Putting all the eggs in the AI basket with no clear path for a ROI seems… problematic…

And what about the decommissioning of obsolete data centers and the disposal of obsolete chips, etc???

🤔

We. Told. Them. So.

Yeah, that ^ would guarantee that the AI bubble pops in short order…

And it may actually be how it happens…

🤔

It's a forever war with occasional pauses for reloading. When all the Jews, Arabs, Persians, and Egyptians are dust, new inhabitants will still be picking fights with the next tribe across the river.
Islam is still a young religion. We’ll what happens when it settles in for the long haul.

That’s the pop I expect. A massive contraction in AI investment that sends ripples through the whole economy. I’m predicting right after the election in November.

And if the Democrats do take control of even one House of Congress, the powers that be will blame the economic crash on the Democrats winning - even though the crash was a product of DonOld & the MAGAt republicans’ (and the tech oligarchs, etc) greed & incompetence… And a significant portion of the gullible (or complicit) electorate will go along with blaming the Democrats…

I hate to say anything positive about fascist Elon Musk, but the idea of nuclear-reactor powered datacenters in space might merit further discussion, especially since there is no way to construct nuclear-powered datacenter on land and the water requirements of conventional powered data centers are prohibitive.

Ideally, datacenters would scale to their most "useful" size. Unfortunately, I have an uneasy feeling that datacenters will scale to their most "profitable" size.

Did you see the ultra-secret gargantuan Amazon data center that was being built in the middle of the Saudi Arabian desert?

Massively scaled.

Also massively incinerated after an Iran missile strike. It's not yet capable of being classified "essential infrastructure" and Iran took full advantage.

The problem with putting data centers in space is heat dissipation. No water, no air circulation.

I’ll just leave this interview about AI / data center investment & the economy here as well:
